Hi There! I'm loving your channel! And I notice a most clever detail. Your lovely soft canary yellow blouse has, so to speak, no top button (or second to top botton, the one below the collar). This makes the decolletée much lighter, more elegant, the "plunge" soft and alluring. Did you remove the button (most clever) or did the blouse come this way? Either way, a clever trick for contrasting buttons. Removing "distractions", unnecessary details, always "adds" elegance and lightness. Well done!

I was always 5’6”, an almost ideal height (5’7” is my ideal). A few years ago, at around age 60, I was measured at the doctor’s office and am only 5’4” now. It gave me quite a shock and a complex for a while, but explained why my older trousers always seemed too long. I also lost weight to compensate; the BMI I was using was for my youthful height and I did feel a bit chubby at that weight. I always dress to look taller, but can’t wear heels higher than about 2.5 inches. Even a 2-inch block heel makes me feel better! Unless I have to do a lot of walking, I wear them every day I go out, in a boot, sandals, etc.🙂

I'm barely 5ft but slightly longer in the leg and shorter in body. I'm also an apple. I'm guilty of wearing tops out rather than tucked in to avoid bulk unless I can find a petite fit. Recently I have decided to have tops shortened. I have other clothes shortened if necessary but never thought about tops before and I'm hoping it will save me money in the long run because I'm more likely to wear them 🤞

I love a low, square vamp in shoes, I’m not sure why, but they flatter me. Most comfort shoes have a really high vamp, which is visually shortening and frumpy, I think. I’ll only wear nude ankle straps, contrasting dark ones visually cut off the legs. Now that wide-leg trousers are popular, I had to get some summer shoes with covered heels, the pant hem gets between my foot and the shoe-bed otherwise, it’s so annoying and can’t possibly look good, either. I finally found some espadrilles with a wedge less than 3 inches high, from Talbot’s (I’ve turned my ankles too many times in 3-inch wedges). I haven’t received them yet, but noticed that they have lots of cute styles with the lower heels I need, under 2.5 inches. I hope they’re comfy, if they are, Talbots will be a good shoe source for me. I find most of their clothes frumpy, but have had the occasional good find.

  • @DLS.15715
    @DLS.15715 Год назад +1

Deidre, I disagree about the vamp. I’m wearing brown trousers with a brown flat that have a high vamp. As I look in a full length mirror I see my trousers which blend in with my shoes. If I had a low vamp shoe I would see a break with my skin showing between my trousers and shoes.
A low vamp only elongates the leg if one is wearing something other than trousers.

I’ve been seeing a lot of Vivaia imitators making similar knitted shoes, but be careful, they don’t use recycled plastics, just new ones, which defeats the purpose. I ordered my first pair from Vivaia and don’t find them all that comfortable, the toes are quite narrow and squeeze (I’m an Average, or C width). I’m also afraid that they won’t be breathable, but I’ll give them a try with an outfit for a few hours. I always buy leather shoes because I know they will be breathable, soften and stretch. I’m thinking of trying Calla shoes instead, which are leather, but haven’t yet seen a Must-Have style.

    I'm not a petite woman. Im a whole 5'3" tall !!
I wear the short waist Chanel cut jackets and peplum style. Form fitting outfits look good, Never drown yourself with lots of fabric. Accentuate the waist by tucking shirts in, wearing belts, high waisted pants, and good posture!
Shoulders back, chest up and out, raise decolletage, suck your lower diaphragm in, it's in your lower tummy, under the belly button in.
If you can't find it, lay flat on the floor, knees bent, feet up by thighs. curl pelvic bone under ( like a dog tucking his tail between his hind legs.) Exhale, Now your belly has a place to sink into, It's called 'the bread basket. Practice laying down then standing up. You'll lose 5 pounds by standing properly, and you'll look taller!
Also don't lean on one leg from the hip. Keeping hips even and stretching a leg out will lengthen legs. Slightly twisting the upper body from the waist, like Deidre does when she poses, creates a smaller waistline and the elegant Greek sway.

Love your videos but I have a bit of a tummy so wearing a long top hides it.I usually do that with a pair of leggings or skinny jeans

Too-long trousers that puddle on the floor are visually shortening, too, like your black ones here (sorry, Deirdre, but I would get those shortened a few inches). I always tuck in my tops, or wear “crop” ones that just cover a high waistband (fairly easy to find because I’m both short in height and very short-waisted, but I won’t show tummy skin at my age, 63). I think showing the waist, at least in front, is the most important thing of all. Yes, I, too, have a tummy bulge, like most women our age, and am not slim (US size 10) but long tops hanging down over the hips and upper legs just ruin the visual proportions of the whole body. Long tops worn over leggings or skinnies is also a very outdated silhouette, it makes us look stuck in the past.

As a seamstress I was thinking the same thing, I'd shorten those black pants 1/4 inch and they will hit the bottom of the heel beautifully. They definitely shouldn't "puddle".

The long top untucked. 1/2 1/2 No no. TWO THIRDS RULE. 1/3 top. 2/3 bottom. Short torso long legs. Or visa versa? 2/3 top. 1/3 bottom. Long tall body? Enjoyed!👍

Speaking of recycled shoes...I picked up a pair of Adidas sneakers made entirely of plastic. I know it sounds hideous but they’re great looking and will never get dirty.

My feet are wide, and a little longer, so I can't wear pointed shoes. I get serious pain and cramping, and my feet look even longer. When you showed rounded shoes you were wearing joggers. Not rounded dress shoes. Not exactly on the same level??

The only thing I take issue with you is calling 5’4” “short” . I’m 5’4” and I consider myself average height. I love this height and wouldn’t want to be any taller or shorter. My husband is 6’1” and I think he’s a perfect height too.

Well, in fashion terms, 5'4" and under is considered petite.

@@maryokeefe5351 I really don’t “take issue” with that. But I’m in America and I have always bought regular sized clothes. I could get by with Petite Capris but I understand those are no good. Lol. But any time I’ve tried on petite pants they’re too short. So I definitely don’t consider myself petite. But I’m sure in high fashion I’m a shrimp.
