Keeper has really been building out their template capabilities for firm and non-closing tasks! They just started a community template sharing section - still pretty bare-bones, but growing!

Does anyone have a "feature comparison grid" available that compares Firm360, Karbon, Canopy, Qount, etc?

People love to bag on Practice CS, and I get it. However, I don't think people realize that Practice CS was incredibly innovative for its time (it came out about 25 years ago - having software work with the internet was barely a thing at that time). It has a steep learning curve and TR should have done a much better job with training users (they always wanted to charge thousands for training, so most firms had staff wing it). They also shouldn't have sold modules separately - firms would buy the base package with the client management module and think they were set. Then, find out that they needed to spend another chunk of money on the project management module to get what they really needed - which is very frustrating! That said, the capabilities were way ahead of other options available at that time. I suspect that most modern PMs have learned from PCS. (It's like comparing a 25 year old car to a new car. Sure, the new car is better - but it has the benefit of 25 years of development.)

While I have a lot of respect for the contribution that Practice CS made to practice management tools, where my "car analogy" falls apart is that a car manufacturer doesn't have much ability to improve their product after it leaves the dealership. A software company can / should make periodic updates to their product. I've worked for 3 firms that use PCS, and I started using PCS about 15 years ago. I honestly can't recall a significant update during that time. While developers of modern PM tools learned from PCS and improved upon its shortcomings and expanded upon its positives - TR should be ashamed that they haven't been doing that all along.

Does Drake offer a PM? Is it any good? All I saw on their website is web hosting and other ancillary tools. Looking to start from scratch next year. Thanks

Hi Jason, as your daily podcast listener and a new/small tax firm owner, I'm planning to choose either Financial Cents or Firm 360 to start my tiny practice among myself and 2 contractors. I don't know which of the two options I should choose. Want your input.

Depends on your firm! If you haven't yet, run through the tool linked in the vid description, that'll give you a "top" recommendation

Tax Software PM = Ew. 🤢This was a super interesting one...not that your others are not. lol😂 I'm constantly torn by whether or not I'm in the right platform, or if I should make a change This was good to be able to quickly go through the pros and cons of each. Thank you!
