Counter picking is important, but losing all Ult charge due to constant swaps hurts more as OW has largely been a game about pushing Q to win a point. Sure it takes proper timing, possible strategy with your team to actually win. But most big pushes or clears come down to good Ult use. There is a reason why a lot of the top players Main a handful of hero's. They are good enough to play through situations where they are at a disadvantage instead of instantly swapping to another hero.
I relate as a support player. I remember being Ana, next to a Moira in quick play. Our tank kept nagging me to heal while the Moira did nothing but dive. There’s only one of me and 4 of them running to their death.
Didn't realize it till the end, but the entire first game was built upon the idea the Tank/lifeweaver complained they always lost when a Mercy was on their team... the enemy team that Won had a Mercy. Seems pretty obvious what the difference of the two teams was.
As a mercy main I really appreciate when you show even the not so great games. When I have a bad game or go on a losing streak I really beat myself up and start to question everything I’m doing. It’s comforting to know that even higher ranked mercys go through the same struggles. Its important to just believe in yourself and keep trying. Wishing you all the luck on your future games!

you can report lws for doing those grips its actually considered throwing/griefing and messing with the match progression. It's annoying they say your throwing but your not physically causing them not to be able to play the game correctly.

You also have to consider Rank. I wasn't paying too much attention to where Eley was at in this video but she reaches top 500 almost every season... You can complain about off meta hero's and throw picks all you want but if your in Grand Master you better expect they know what they are doing. If anything being in GM as something like Symetra, Mercy, etc means your probably better than most others of the same rank. Your working at a disadvantage in every fight because your hero isn't meta.
blizzard saw that not too many people were playing comp so they ruined it for the few that do... matchmaking has never been worse than with this stupid drive event and there's people throwing all over the place amazing how they can't get a single thing right

yeah honestly, i play with a duo dps/support and occasionally with a trio supp/dps and we lose so many games in a row its not even funny, even before drive it hasn't been this bad.. it somehow is better when I solo q but not when i duo or trio q.. even when we are about the same rank, high silver/gold

That might've been true before buffs, but no LW is a good support. Not every situation, as it always goes. But his kit is quite versatile if used properly, but this guy chose to waste half of it. Also he does a decent amount of damage and has a higher health than most squishies so he generally lives longer to heal longer.

I’ve been inspired by you and bogur to try competitive playing only Mercy. This is coming from a quickplay sweat that refused to touch competitive for a long time. 😂 None of the buddies I play with even wanna touch competitive lol, but I wanted the challenge of solo queuing anyway. I’m having fun getting sweatier matches, but I also noticed that I see people with weak mentality more often than in qp. They’re quick to blame others and sabotage their own team mates instead of trying to learn and adapt. I’ve watched other OW creators talk about the main difference between professional level players and regular players being whether someone had a persistent and strong mentality or folded under pressure. I love getting matches where the team work is on point, and every time I get team mates or enemy players that try to sabotage their respective teams, I just report them and shrug it off after the match cause they didn’t deserve to win anyway. Anyway, the ones with better skills, game sense and team work will also shrug it off and persevere, and I prefer winning with a good team than with awful teammates. So keep up the good work! You’re inspiring to watch and I’m always happy to see your vids 😁
i don't understand a lot of the mercy hate. i understand being frustrated when you get otp mercys who get no value out of her, but to straight up bully someone and throw a game because of a character is crazy. i don't main mercy (i play ana and kiri supp wise) but i dont even dare touch mercy bc then ill just be targeted the whole game 😭
ive turned my chats off in both ow and league and holy gaming so blissful and fun when you cant see what everyones saying xD youre able to finally focus on yourself and ur own gameplay so who cares what they have to say! theyre talking to a brick wall! besides, at the end of the day everyone will close the game and move on and no one will remember what happened so! its all just for fun!
Absolutely! I only started climbing when I turned all chats/comms off lol, sometimes teammates really are just a distraction and ppl can be SO mean. It put me off the game for a while, I'm glad I don't have to hear it anymore.

This honestly goes to show you how bad Blizzards reporting system is if players like this exist in such high ranks. Super obvious with their comments in text chat, the easiest chat for Blizzard to parse with AI bots. Then the Life weaver pulls, the easiest hero to troll with in the game. Yet they are so confident they won't get punished, they do this. At times I honestly feel the only thing that gets punished in OW is racist or sexist speech abuses. Those seem to get people banned instantly, anything else is mostly ignored.

What’s crazy is as a mercy main who dmg boosts as primary, sometimes teammates will see their damage and think that mercy doesn’t contribute meanwhile a huge chunk of their damage is because of the damage boost. Then res’ and the healing output is completely overlooked. You did a great job!
I started playing not too long ago, and it was really bad I was useless with every character I choosed to use but then I found mercy and everything was waaayy better, I finally found the character I like to play with :). Sometimes is frustrating cause I’m still learning how to be better every matches more, but watching the way u play it is incredible!! Don’t listen to those people you’re so good at this! Hi Eley, I know not everyone has people to duo with in comp but it might help with the bad matches. Honest you’re the best mercy out there that I’ve seen-nothing against other streamers out there, but their mercy just isn’t the same. You put so much skill into your games. Still, those other streamers are at high grand master and top 500 because they get duo queues. It feels bad that comp is less about individual skill expression and more about pocketing the team carry. Maybe more group queues would pad out the toxicity and make for more reliable teammates. I don’t know if you prefer solo queue, cause I don’t read twitch chat, but maybe more group games would help? I think most ppl have the wrong idea of rlly think that playing mercy is a good pick, bc let's be honest, in terms of utility, mercy is the worst pick for that, literally u can pick any other supp and do an excellent job and even more than a mercy and i know u can say "mercy can revive teammates" but it is much better to have a supp who can keep the ally alive and on top of that give something more than a supp who the only thing she does is revive. In addition, she is one of the worst supports to play in ranked currently due to the little usefulness that her kit has in games, do not take it personally, it is a general view and a fact that many people usually ignore. Literally any other support can do a much better job than a mercy in the game, I'm not saying don't play mercy, I'm just saying when you have to change do it because otherwise if you continue with mercy 2 things may happen, the first is that it is more difficult to win the game itself and that this leads to a defeat, the second is that they lose the game directly and the chances of winning with mercy would be low compared to other supports
Honestly the toxicity of ranked is why I stopped playing competitive and just do unranked now especially when I tend to get bad loss streaks and feel like a failure

12:54 this game was annoying for a mercy because of orisa and lw. I understand BBing dps is a must but with this set up, your tank is a priority. I’d just maneuver around to keep tank and dps up. Usually lw can hold their own. Mercy have more movement than lw, so it’s okay to leave dps to help tank, even if you think it’s suicidal. Like yes, orisa went in hard but also, people were everywhere & so was enemy team. It’s just situational who to help, and if it’ll win the fight. Don’t be afraid to rez without ult, or confuse them and rez too. Ofc you’re a mercy main so you know better, but as a mercy player myself I’ve done a lot of crazy fun tricks w mercy in this rank & lower. But regardless you played fine, I personally would’ve sacrificed myself to keep tank alive or use my body to take some dmg if I know someone will die even with my healing beam. It helps a lot ❤❤ but nice try for sure~ 32:00 This was a good game!! I did notice sometimes you fly away from enemy but never believe in your teammates that are trying to kill someone whos attacking you & you let them die because of hiding. Mercy’s whole character is built to bait, and juke..distract enemy team. (At least that’s how I used her and climbed) also to stay alive while doing all of that. You can even create space with your movement back & forth to persuade enemy team to kill u who’s just freely flying around. Playing safe is also good! But I noticed there were moments where you could’ve definitely saved your teammates. Well plays either way, was soothing to watch 🤍 I also recommend controlling your blue beam/yellow beam instead of it being automatically locked on to someone. It’s faster when you have it off auto to maneuver between yellow/blue (like healing someone low is quicker from blue beam) ❤️🔥
Can someone answer me why rez keeps cancelling? You should be able to grab the soul even if its almost out of time. I've been having rez cancel (not resetting the cooldown) more often lately, even if there's a quarter timer left on the soul respawn? Friends are having the same issue.
Group respawns make the timer faster. Hold your Rez key down as you approach to snag them. As long as someone hasn’t died within a 5 second timer (iirc), their respawn will not change and shorten.

This season was really unplayable for me too. I don't know what's wrong but it's not even about Mercy. I've been trying to play other supports but the result is the same. I've gone to gold3 from diamond2.... I don't even want to start the game anymore.
I don’t play mercy that much anymore just because of interactions like this. We had double hitscan so I went mercy - made sense. We won first round but second round, two people in the enemy team were intent on spawn camping and saying vile things to me just for playing mercy…it got so bad that even my team joined in. Just got playing a character. I swapped off but it didn’t matter to them…literally took a break from ow2 for a good couple of weeks because of it. The only person who said anything in my defend was my support who messaged me after apologising… I get mercy can be frustrating for people. But the fact people take it so seriously and harass them these days is getting crazy. I stick to every other support unless Mercy is the absolute best pick that someone else hasn’t chosen.
It’s always easier to blame other people than to see what you could be doing wrong. 🤦♀️ These people are absolutely insufferable and the fact that the lw was gripping on purpose makes it worse.

I remember the only time I ever reached masters was by only playing Zen (I believe it was season 8 or 9, can't remember). And I had a Hog who said the exact same thing to me: "Switch off Zen or Ill throw" (I did not switch off Zen). Lol but he kept jumping off the map n simply attacking here n there to not get kicked out due to inactivity. no fr, so many people who don't play comp wanted those stupid name tags that they decided to start playing again. And surprise surprise most of them aren't that good lol. One game of mine I had a Moria with 2k dmg and only 900 heals. Worst part is they couldn't even get any kills with all that dmg, yet me and the rest of my team have to loose because of their poor performance
It's very difficult playing in matches like these! It feels like you aren't doing much, if anything especially when your team keeps seperating and dying. Good matches though! I can see my mercy positioning, cooldown usage and red timings can be very poor when I see you play

I can never have a good game without my team being bums and complaining about mercy and not even just asking to swap or giving me an actual reason to swap , the enemy team having the better dps . like the list goes ON . you can report lws for doing those grips its actually considered throwing/griefing and messing with the match progression. It's annoying they say your throwing but your not physically causing them not to be able to play the game correctly.
I would also report the tank for sexual harassment/misconduct. Saw one at 10:40 I think. May have missed at another point too.

You also have to consider Rank. I wasn't paying too much attention to where Eley was at in this video but she reaches top 500 almost every season... You can complain about off meta hero's and throw picks all you want but if your in Grand Master you better expect they know what they are doing. If anything being in GM as something like Symetra, Mercy, etc means your probably better than most others of the same rank. Your working at a disadvantage in every fight because your hero isn't meta.

yeah honestly, i play with a duo dps/support and occasionally with a trio supp/dps and we lose so many games in a row its not even funny, even before drive it hasn't been this bad.. it somehow is better when I solo q but not when i duo or trio q.. even when we are about the same rank, high silver/gold

That might've been true before buffs, but no LW is a good support. Not every situation, as it always goes. But his kit is quite versatile if used properly, but this guy chose to waste half of it. Also he does a decent amount of damage and has a higher health than most squishies so he generally lives longer to heal longer.

You’re my favorite mercy main to watch Eley, I watched your vids to better understand how to play Mercy for whenever I spawned as her in mystery heroes! I’ve been inspired by you and bogur to try competitive playing only Mercy. This is coming from a quickplay sweat that refused to touch competitive for a long time. 😂 None of the buddies I play with even wanna touch competitive lol, but I wanted the challenge of solo queuing anyway. I’m having fun getting sweatier matches, but I also noticed that I see people with weak mentality more often than in qp. They’re quick to blame others and sabotage their own team mates instead of trying to learn and adapt.
I’ve watched other OW creators talk about the main difference between professional level players and regular players being whether someone had a persistent and strong mentality or folded under pressure. I love getting matches where the team work is on point, and every time I get team mates or enemy players that try to sabotage their respective teams, I just report them and shrug it off after the match cause they didn’t deserve to win anyway. Anyway, the ones with better skills, game sense and team work will also shrug it off and persevere, and I prefer winning with a good team than with awful teammates. So keep up the good work! You’re inspiring to watch and I’m always happy to see your vids 😁
i don't understand a lot of the mercy hate. i understand being frustrated when you get otp mercys who get no value out of her, but to straight up bully someone and throw a game because of a character is crazy. i don't main mercy (i play ana and kiri supp wise) but i dont even dare touch mercy bc then ill just be targeted the whole game 😭

ive turned my chats off in both ow and league and holy gaming so blissful and fun when you cant see what everyones saying xD youre able to finally focus on yourself and ur own gameplay so who cares what they have to say! theyre talking to a brick wall! besides, at the end of the day everyone will close the game and move on and no one will remember what happened so! its all just for fun!

Absolutely! I only started climbing when I turned all chats/comms off lol, sometimes teammates really are just a distraction and ppl can be SO mean. It put me off the game for a while, I'm glad I don't have to hear it anymore.

This honestly goes to show you how bad Blizzards reporting system is if players like this exist in such high ranks. Super obvious with their comments in text chat, the easiest chat for Blizzard to parse with AI bots. Then the Life weaver pulls, the easiest hero to troll with in the game. Yet they are so confident they won't get punished, they do this. At times I honestly feel the only thing that gets punished in OW is racist or sexist speech abuses. Those seem to get people banned instantly, anything else is mostly ignored.
its also probably bc team chat bans are not that "restrictive" if that makes sense a lot of ppl play ow without having to ever touch it so they dont care

What’s crazy is as a mercy main who dmg boosts as primary, sometimes teammates will see their damage and think that mercy doesn’t contribute meanwhile a huge chunk of their damage is because of the damage boost. Then res’ and the healing output is completely overlooked. You did a great job!
I started playing not too long ago, and it was really bad I was useless with every character I choosed to use but then I found mercy and everything was waaayy better, I finally found the character I like to play with :). Sometimes is frustrating cause I’m still learning how to be better every matches more, but watching the way u play it is incredible!! Don’t listen to those people you’re so good at this! I love watching u playing mercy :) it inspires me to be better at it!
I love the mercy complaints like the enemy team didn't also have mercy. Your teammates were the ones throwing, and last I checked, throwing is the reportable offense. Not playing a character that's literally in the game. I'm glad you don't let others dictate how you play. Hi Eley, I know not everyone has people to duo with in comp but it might help with the bad matches. Honest you’re the best mercy out there that I’ve seen-nothing against other streamers out there, but their mercy just isn’t the same. You put so much skill into your games. Still, those other streamers are at high grand master and top 500 because they get duo queues. It feels bad that comp is less about individual skill expression and more about pocketing the team carry. Maybe more group queues would pad out the toxicity and make for more reliable teammates. I don’t know if you prefer solo queue, cause I don’t read twitch chat, but maybe more group games would help? I love how positive you are ❤️ but I also only solo queue haha so maybe this comment won’t land right. GL in all your games!! I love watching your mercy play!! I think most ppl have the wrong idea of rlly think that playing mercy is a good pick, bc let's be honest, in terms of utility, mercy is the worst pick for that, literally u can pick any other supp and do an excellent job and even more than a mercy and i know u can say "mercy can revive teammates" but it is much better to have a supp who can keep the ally alive and on top of that give something more than a supp who the only thing she does is revive. In addition, she is one of the worst supports to play in ranked currently due to the little usefulness that her kit has in games, do not take it personally, it is a general view and a fact that many people usually ignore. Literally any other support can do a much better job than a mercy in the game, I'm not saying don't play mercy, I'm just saying when you have to change do it because otherwise if you continue with mercy 2 things may happen, the first is that it is more difficult to win the game itself and that this leads to a defeat, the second is that they lose the game directly and the chances of winning with mercy would be low compared to other supports

I just switched to pc and I have to say.. no one gives mercy players enough credit. Having movement like zhau is just incredible, it’s harder than it looks to play mercy at the highest level.

sure in a logical sense ppl may argue and say that you shouldnt play mercy with the team comp , but at the same time that dosent warrant ppl to dogpile on you just because you are playing mercy when the lw wasnt even being held accountable for wasting utility to troll and throwing on purpose . people play what they want in comp and if the lw had a brain he would have went main heals to compensate for the amount of damage obviously being dealt , especially to your orisa . there is like a small percent of the time where mercy isnt viable because your teammates ( like in this video ) arent getting value from the damage boost and as mercy you have no choice but to PRAY that someone gets a pick LOL . love ur videos zhau , keep up the great work 🩷
12:54 this game was annoying for a mercy because of orisa and lw. I understand BBing dps is a must but with this set up, your tank is a priority. I’d just maneuver around to keep tank and dps up. Usually lw can hold their own. Mercy have more movement than lw, so it’s okay to leave dps to help tank, even if you think it’s suicidal. Like yes, orisa went in hard but also, people were everywhere & so was enemy team. It’s just situational who to help, and if it’ll win the fight. Don’t be afraid to rez without ult, or confuse them and rez too. Ofc you’re a mercy main so you know better, but as a mercy player myself I’ve done a lot of crazy fun tricks w mercy in this rank & lower. But regardless you played fine, I personally would’ve sacrificed myself to keep tank alive or use my body to take some dmg if I know someone will die even with my healing beam. It helps a lot ❤❤ but nice try for sure~
32:00 This was a good game!! I did notice sometimes you fly away from enemy but never believe in your teammates that are trying to kill someone whos attacking you & you let them die because of hiding. Mercy’s whole character is built to bait, and juke..distract enemy team. (At least that’s how I used her and climbed) also to stay alive while doing all of that. You can even create space with your movement back & forth to persuade enemy team to kill u who’s just freely flying around. Playing safe is also good! But I noticed there were moments where you could’ve definitely saved your teammates. Well plays either way, was soothing to watch 🤍 I also recommend controlling your blue beam/yellow beam instead of it being automatically locked on to someone.
It’s faster when you have it off auto to maneuver between yellow/blue (like healing someone low is quicker from blue beam) ❤️🔥
Can someone answer me why rez keeps cancelling? You should be able to grab the soul even if its almost out of time. I've been having rez cancel (not resetting the cooldown) more often lately, even if there's a quarter timer left on the soul respawn? Friends are having the same issue.
Group respawns make the timer faster. Hold your Rez key down as you approach to snag them. As long as someone hasn’t died within a 5 second timer (iirc), their respawn will not change and shorten.

This season was really unplayable for me too. I don't know what's wrong but it's not even about Mercy. I've been trying to play other supports but the result is the same. I've gone to gold3 from diamond2.... I don't even want to start the game anymore.
I don’t play mercy that much anymore just because of interactions like this. We had double hitscan so I went mercy - made sense. We won first round but second round, two people in the enemy team were intent on spawn camping and saying vile things to me just for playing mercy…it got so bad that even my team joined in. Just got playing a character. I swapped off but it didn’t matter to them…literally took a break from ow2 for a good couple of weeks because of it.
The only person who said anything in my defend was my support who messaged me after apologising…
I get mercy can be frustrating for people. But the fact people take it so seriously and harass them these days is getting crazy.
I stick to every other support unless Mercy is the absolute best pick that someone else hasn’t chosen.

I remember the only time I ever reached masters was by only playing Zen (I believe it was season 8 or 9, can't remember). And I had a Hog who said the exact same thing to me: "Switch off Zen or Ill throw" (I did not switch off Zen). Lol but he kept jumping off the map n simply attacking here n there to not get kicked out due to inactivity.

no fr, so many people who don't play comp wanted those stupid name tags that they decided to start playing again. And surprise surprise most of them aren't that good lol. One game of mine I had a Moria with 2k dmg and only 900 heals. Worst part is they couldn't even get any kills with all that dmg, yet me and the rest of my team have to loose because of their poor performance

It's very difficult playing in matches like these! It feels like you aren't doing much, if anything especially when your team keeps seperating and dying. Good matches though! I can see my mercy positioning, cooldown usage and red timings can be very poor when I see you play
playing mercy for the past couple of seasons is just extremely tiring at this point . I can never have a good game without my team being bums and complaining about mercy and not even just asking to swap or giving me an actual reason to swap , the enemy team having the better dps . like the list goes ON . Just here for the mercy skins and charms in the battlepass tbh .....
