I have hope. I took a class online at my local university extension, women’s art history, and the instructor gave us a trick bonus question in the open quiz asking our thoughts on if it’s ok for anthropologists to retroactively change the gender of a person who is biologically female but wearing mens clothing. I was the only one that answered, and although I knew what I believed (no,) I very diplomatically gave the answer that I thought I should give based on my previous experience in such courses. I did not get the extra credit points for that answer. Although I think the teacher should not have even have had that question in the quiz, I was kinda happily surprised to see that all of the other students avoided it, and that she was clearly not interested in the response I assumed she’d want. Also, this is at a San Francisco university so make of that what you will.
sad state of affairs.
how do you know nibody else took on that question?
did the professor tell the class these things?
the answer for ANY phys. anthro student should be OBVIOUS.
so....
🤔
@ it was an open quiz, as I said, meaning everyone can see everyone else’s answers after you hit submit. Anyone who’s taken an online course in the last few years knows what I’m talking about.
The central issue is destruction of open communication. I'm not blaming you for being diplomatic and I sympathize with your double-bind situation. Instead of feeling (as a university student ought) free to express your opinion, you anticipated what was expected. THAT restriction IS the problem. I'm also disappointed in the professor who was clearly box-ticking, rather than taking an opportunity to engage with a student's ideas. Ideally, University is about learning to think, bouncing ideas around, having one's curiosity stimulated. Instead, as someone said in another video --- western universities have become madrassas.
28:30 moralistic fallacy fits better here - the assumption that what is conventionally morally good should be reflected in reality.
Really sad to see what woke is doing to science.
And what WOKE is doing to everything!
Non reproducibility is an academic honesty problem.
I saw you on pageou!!!
Did I hear correctly that Richard Dawkins and Steven Pinker also left FFRF?
I dropped my subscription with them due to their straying away from the religion issue to waste time on woke nonsense.
Yes, as I understand it, Pinker and Dawkins resigned due to the cancellation of Coyne's article. The FFRF then eliminated their honorary board completely in response.
Hope Trump getting in can stop this shit
He is flawed, but he is taking action aganist the MI6 Five Eyes txrrorist mafia, so that's excellent.
RFK and Tulsi are a good sign; despite having to publicly support anti-Semitiz anti-democratic Zionist usurpers.
Trump will stop all shit. Including democracy.
Trump didn’t study in school. He got in bc daddy gifted penn. Trump was lazy as in first term in office. He has little idea how govt works. He’s a DEI president. Twice. He’s a role model for youth. Celebrity and oafishness can get you what you want. Why study?
The problem is not easily legislated away or corrected by cancelling programs. That could provide an interruption to the continuation of DISeducation, but the disaster lies in the many who have been taught not only foundational misinformation, but to think dogmatically, and to be *vaccinated* against considering facts and rational explanations. How can they be deradicalized? How can their resistant minds be opened?
The statement regarding relationship seems to check out the atheist professor this is actually a bit missing the simplicity of it. In the same way that science hasn't been able to turn every Christian away from religion, because yes, they have this, it's somewhat higher belief, something nice, no matter what docs just proved them faith is everything and they have the moral authority to stand up for it, no matter what. And that's even done, and there's similar pretense love diversity, inclusion, peace just be kind. It is absolutely the definition of cult religion.
Thank you! Though, no institution can do it alone -- we must be decentralised. Even the Heterodox Academy was hosting obvious MI6/CIA Cut-outs with anti-democratic Russophobic pro-Banderite nonsense; and that's to be expected because of powerplay and manipulation -- so decentralised cellular-structures and resiliency become imperatiive.
Rusophobic? Really? Decentralised cellular structures? Like which ones?
