It's a cool car but I am getting tired of how modern cars have simple commands or adjustments buried in menus. It's kind of dangerous to be distracted digging in menus to change the air pattern of the air conditioning vent, for example.
Agreed. The more stuff that is reliant on touchscreens, the less time the driver is going to spend looking at the road while they fiddle about with the most basic everyday settings that should be on fully tactile knobs and switches.
Yeah the climate vent thing is just plain stupid and seems like they were actively searching to do something different for the sake of being more "modern", when in reality it just makes things less convenient. I am not bothered by it (yet) because I only ever buy used cars, but the whole all-screen interior concept is something that would honestly make me not buy a specific car at all. Not only is it harder to operate and possibly dangerous since you can't operate it without looking, it also looks like shit as soon as someone has used the screens for even just a few minutes because everything is covered in fingerprints.

Model 3 (and a cayenne) got 6 in handling too. Putting porsche's huge reputation in sports cars aside, Taycan proved itself setting an amazing lap time in nurburgring (which tesla probrabily doens't even care). Hard to digest this one

Obviously he's never lived in Central NY during winter. Pretty goddamn close to avalanche conditions
I love this car. But Porsche's engineers didn't take into account cold, snowy winters like in Canada. During the winter, ice would build up in that area preventing you to "open" the charge port with that exterior sliding sensor and also the door could jam due to ice build ups.

I think he starts with a total in his mind then works out the individual scores to fit it.
People talk about 911’s handling, and it may be good with the new models but the classics were actually extremely prone to spinning out
Tbh earning 6 in a Doug score is impressive bc Doug review cars like Lamborghini, Ferrari and all pro handling cars to be able to tell the difference

There's a cheaper RWD version out now. I took one for a test drive just out of curiosity, and placed an order minutes later. It's £80k in the UK, so $106k in the USA, that's with a few basic options. Most options are a waste of money. Long-range battery is the main option to add. It corners like on rails, instant torque at any speed, and yet is as easy to drive as a VW Golf. Amazing cars.
Cars are so much cheaper in the US, it starts at $76k

We test-drove a 4S a couple of weeks ago. The acceleration in even the 4S is breathtaking. I want one.
Just saw a black Turbo in the office parking lot. Amazing - much more compact in person, super tight and slammed. Like a 911 sedan. The black paint was a mile deep - a $20k type job. I’ve gotta hit the LA Porsche Experience with my son!! 🏁

Those air vents are the equivalent of digital LED speedometers in the '80s. Less practical than the analog alternative, but it feels "future".
If those vent controls were on ANY non-luxury brand he would've dragged them for such a counterintuitive method to adjust AC flow.

Just wait until the warranty is over and the vent microprocessor fries along with two vent servos and it costs $2000 to make your vents work again.
The Taycan is a really cool car and I absolutely love the exterior design of the car but I feel that they over-used the touch screen controls. This is just too much of a distraction when driving just to change the simplest things that should be controlled by hand. The configurable gauge cluster screen is a fantastic idea tho!

The artificial engine sound does sound good, but for some odd reason it's a $500 option. A bit of a waste of money, especially since the actual sound of the electric motor and transmission is fairly pleasing compared to Tesla's.

Hi Doug, you probably already know this . . . but, there is no volume knob to turn up / down audio as you point out, but you don't need to keep hitting the '+' / '-' button to make adjustments, just use two fingers on the main screen up or down and the volume reacts accordingly.
