Another interesting video - it's always fascinating to see other people's record collections and to listen to music you would probably never have bought.
A few cassette dates for you:
The TDK SA 90 (at about 6 minutes) was made between 1992 and 1995 and the music is the first album from 1996 called 'Spiders' by a group called Space who were from Liverpool and were fairly big in the late 90s.
The BASF Ferro Extra Extra 1 (at about 20 minutes) was made between 1991 and 1993.
The EMI Super is from 1981-82.
The Rolling Stones 'Steel Wheels' should have a rather jazzy label not a plain one with no details. It's quite possible that it doesn't actually belong in that case. The Billy Joel album looks like a misprinted label where the colours are missing. It doesn't look like something homemade.

Thank you so much for the info. I'll make date notes on sticky notes on the cassette cases, thanks.
Today is the day the video goes public and by coincidence I also started listening to the tapes today, including the Spiders one. I even went to Wikipedia to find out about the group. Late 90s music sorta passed me by, unfortunately.
Another coincidence, the Steel Wheels one is in my Walkman and I'm listening now. I'm pretty sure that's a pirated copy too, it's a bit distorted and lots of dropouts. I might abandon the cassette experience and listen via streaming for that one .
Pretty sure the Billy Joel one is a pirated copy too. Shame.
      Thanks for the comment!

I was wondering why the Stones and Billy Joel tapes were pirated as they're very common and easily available. Then I thought that it was probably someone duplicating the tapes using a twin deck and selling them at a car boot sale or down the pub for a couple of quid. Bootlegs that are not commercially available are much more interesting (if still illegal) 🤫

@@redpossum Yes, probably bought in a pub from a suitcase. Pirated I think is the right term. I now think bootleg relates to concert recordings, etc.

@@CBitsTech You might be interested that there are apparently three classifications in record collecting:
Bootleg - release of unreleased unauthorised recordings such as concerts, outtakes, unreleased songs, etc.
Counterfeit - unauthorised copies of any released material that are designed to fool the buyer into thinking they are buying the genuine article (these are a lot easier to produce in the computer age).
Pirate - previously released material in which the maker makes no attempt to replicate the original packaging.

Excellent, thanks. So I've been using the wrong term for these counterfeit tapes. And, sir, how do you know so much about this 🤔

Thanks. I finally finished listening to them all a couple of weeks ago. There are some good keepers in there.

Thanks. I'm not actively seeking more cassettes, I have run out of space now. I'll probably shoot a video about my "collection" once I've had a sort out.

What a great collection of free audio tapes. And they have good music on them too. At least you got a few dozen good hours of playback. Enjoy!👍

Thanks. I've been enjoying them today. Three keepers, and two rejected. I suspect there's a bit of a problem with the home recorded ones. I'll test a few more and might put up a Shorts video to expain it.

You have inspired me to make a video about some pre-recorded cassettes I picked up fairly cheaply in a couple of markets.

@@AvidRetro Lovely! Can't wait to watch it. I picked up a haul of pre-recorded ones too, recently. My video is awaiting editing, and will be up in maybe 1-3 weeks.

Love a box of tapes that would be otherwise destined for the tip.....some really eclectic mixes of music on one tape, always worth a listen, thank heavens for shazam, there were a lot of Sunday markets knocking out copies in the 80/90s

Record them on the mds and listen at your leisure.

@wellermj Yes, I remember working in a pub in the 80s and I bloke would come in with a suitcase full of tapes and sell them. I bought one once, and it sounded really bad, muffled. Very Dell-boy.

@paulroach2538 With the players I've got, it's actually more convenient to listen to tapes while I work. I've been enjoying them today :)
