Seeing Eddie like this is so sad man. Eddie had such a beautiful and natural tenor but cancer and smoking weakened that wonderful voice. But Eddie was a soldier and stayed strong til the end. Eddie will forever be remembered for that golden voice and being a Temptation. No matter what, Eddie gave it his all. RIP Mr. Eddie Kendricks ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I can’t lie, this footage of Eddie was very hard to watch. It made me cry. He even left the stage because the struggle was real. Love and miss you forever and a day Eddie😭😢
But God bless Dennis for never turning his back on him and allowing him to stay on stage doing what he loved, even when he wasn't in top form. He was the REAL glue of the Temptations.
"Eddie and Dennis were both true performers and legends to the very end. What I do not understand is that Eddie and Dennis had recorded one more album before they died. This is not their last performance. They performed in Los Angeles and Palm Springs, where they recorded the album. When they finished the album, they toured out of the country for a brief time. They were supposed to return from their tour to start promoting the album. But the tour was too much for Eddie, and when he got off the plane, the operation he had on his lung had taken his life shortly after. There is a lot more to the circumstances that have never been told. But I could stake my life on it that the ending of Eddie's life is not the way the record books have recorded it. He was a gentleman, thoughtful, and one of the greatest singers this world knew. I was proud to call him my friend."
@@troyturner3955 He was truly something else as a singer and a person. I sure he up in heaven being the great person he was. It a shame that he never really got what he deserved. His words not mine.
Thank you David Green. Seriously thank you. This is a precious and extremely rare bit of musical history. To see Damon and Eddie on the same stage was awesome. Always wanted to see that! In retrospect, it was also both surreal and sad because we know that in 2 and a half months Eddie would leave us and you can see how he was conserving his strength. Damon did excellently and for him to sing Just my Imagination we know that it was really serious at this point. Eddie would normally do his own numbers. Nate, Dennis, and everyone did well and I enjoyed it. Thank you for this upload and share! It means a lot!
It’s sad to see Eddie like this. It’s always been said The Apollo was his last show but that was 6.15.92 and this is a full month later. He was gone within the next 2.5 months.
Dennis did THE best job of keeping the Temptations alive and well. Nate Evans, Eddie, David, David Jr, Paul Williams Jr... Dennis kept them all on the stage. Seems like he had a pure heart. 💙
No matter what you think of Eddie and Dennis, they were both great singers of the Temptations, and having their own group with Damon, Nate and David Sea. It was very great, a great 1992 lineup if i'm being honest.
I think they were great singers, and I got no problem with them getting their bag. You know you going to get the best they can give when they hit the stage. I credit Motown and their pride in themselves.
At 39:55, leading “Get Ready” the former Temptation that replaced Eddie Kendricks in 1972, Damon (Otis) Harris. Also he’s the original falsetto lead on the Temptation’s “Papa Was A Rolling Stone” as he sings here starting the 47:15 mark.
This is what a temptation group is supposed to sound like. I just wish Eddie and Dennis would have taken time out to find a natural bass singer. The guy who is singing bass Charles I think that's his name is actually a good lead singer in his own voice but not the bass that's needed in the temps. Damon surely shows how a 1st tenor should sound like coming in behind Eddie. Even though David Ruffin passed in this lineup Eddie and Dennis are just as much temptations as were Otis and Melvin at that time so there were two groups of the temptations as far as am concerned.
Dennis was the real one that was keeping the Temptations all together and all working and getting paid. He didn't claim to be glue while treating them like disposable parts. Watching him bring out Paul Williams' son was like watching Paul take the stage again. But thru no fault of his own-- nobody really has that bottom of the basement bass like Melvin Frankin! Thank you for everything, Mr. Edwards. Temptations Forever.
Just show pride in performing he had. He know he could not hit those notes like he used to and wanted to give the fans the best show. he sang what he could because he knew the fans were there for him. and we understand everyone changes over time, but we still love them. That is why the Tempts still perform worldwide and make a nice living, its the quality of their work
@@queenviviene4110 People need to credit Dennis Edward's for keeping the REAL Temptations together. He was performing with both David and Eddie until they passed. Nate Evans, Paul Williams son. Unlike a certain selfish person that treated people like interchangeable, disposable parts-- Dennis kept them together and doing what they loved as long as he could. ❤
Eddie was there at first, but then he left the stage very shortly after they did the first song (Standing On The Top). Eddie was also dealing with serious health issues, but I'm unsure if that's why he left the stage. Also, it was good to see former Temptations 1st Tenor/Falsetto Otis Robert "Damon" Harris, Jr. (aka Damon Harris) on stage singing (Damon was in Black, dressed the same as Dennis). R.I.P. to Eddie, Dennis, and Damon.💕😇💕
@patthurman6552 yeah I grew up with all the temps the original ones I have all their LPS. I was just wondering about Eddie I didn't see him at all. I always like watching the old videos and songs. It brings back so many good memories. Those were the days are real music. I even bought the Temptations movie you know with different actors. I guess Otis played a big part in making the movie. Thanks for your info.
Actually Eddie returned to the stage very near the end ... he sang "The Way You Do The Things You Do." I could tell by the "straining in his voice" that he was sick (and he did not dance on stage with the group). I'm glad that Eddie and Damon had a good relationship and respect for each other after they both left the Temptations. That made it easier for Damon to assist by singing the songs that Eddie made famous back in the day.🎶😀🎶
Here's a throwback featuring 7 of the members from the Reunion Tour in the early 80s. Eddie's voice was strained at that time. Damon Harris was not with this tour, so Glenn Leonard (Damon's replacement) sang some of the high notes. This lineup: Otis Williams, Eddie Kendricks, Melvin "Blue" Franklin, David Ruffin, Dennis Edwards, Richard Street, and Glenn Leonard. ENJOY!!🎶😀🎶 music.ruclips.net/video/vrIbU3CS3eM/видео.html&feature=share

Mr. Kendrick passed away😢
You are correct and knowing this really not only makes the performance special but kind of eerily surreal as well...

Exactly.
Damon, the underrated legend of the Temptations splendidly sang "Just My Imagination".
You're right, I think he was the best after Eddie, He was just too young when he joined and got caught up. But no denying his talent
@@botrrun9399I agree that he was the best replacement for Eddie.
Amazing !! Dennis, Eddie, and Damon R.I.P. Gentlemen... Thank you for posting this historical footage of these legends!
Everyone did so good. Thank you for uploading. So cool to see Damon with them.
When Eddie was diagnosed to have lung cancer , he refused to get chemo..only because he said his hair fall out. the rest they say is His story!!

David Green, thank you for the wonderful video. Dennis Edwards was always my favorite.
Dennis Edward's always a powerhouse.
I see the great tenor Damon Otis Harris here as well (replaced Eddie in the Temptations originally),David Sea and Nate Evans
The real glue of the Temptations was Dennis Edwards.
i like the song selections....so many hits~
Standing On The Top-these musicians kept the spirit of Rick James bumping.
Saw them May 91 and Eddie was in great voice and shape. He deteriorated pretty quick bless him.
I think David's death took a toll on him
Great show. Those guys were great
I saw THEM IN HARLEM APOLLO FATHERS DAY..Poor EDDIE KENDRICK was So FRAIL..BUT HE did his best...RIH

Kinder sad for Damon to take eddie's parts, and eddie is standing right there.
He was too sick to sing for an hour.

Dennis Edwards was loyal to Eddie till the very end. He kept Eddie on the payroll until he died.
