Chitchor is the 3rd in the trilogy of Basu da. (Basu Chaterjee). Rajanigandha, Chhotisi Baat and finally the pinnacle, Chitchor. The best gift for the cinegoers in mid-70's. (Do not remember the exact year of release of Chitchor.) The best serving for the middle classes. Amol Palekar, as the endearing next door boy excelled. Stories in each of these films, structuring and screen play and finally the eminently successful experiment with Jesudas and Hemalatha are now part of memorable, indelible history. To this day, my mood gets elevated when I hear Chitchor songs.
