just for benefit of beginners...whenever i get scared or fearful of making that crucial call, i remember when i had a boss and i was starting out. The boss used to say, GET ON THAT PHONE...NOW. they used to say , have you called that client yet ? ..if not call them now. They used to say, what deals are you closing, and if you had nothing, you would immediately hit the phones, because the next time they asked, you better have something. what i'm getting at is, when you are afraid....PRETEND YOU HAVE A BOSS, AND TELL YOURSELF WHAT YOUR BOSS WOULD TELL YOU. You see a lot of newbies, they are now the boss, possibly for the first time in their lives, and they are not holding themselves accountable, so it will help if they can conjure up in their mind that they have a boss, who is telling them what to do , until it becomes second nature. The more believable the conjure, the more of a kick up the ass to do the tasks in question. they really should try and get this split personality, with one half of the personality (the boss) forcing them to make the call, to send the email again, and the other part of their personality (the worker) the one that responds to the boss, and does what he is told, and gets the job done. I myself do this at times when i am slacking, I pretend my old boss is standing over me and asking the RIGHT QUESTIONS, and then responding as they would..and then i get a bit of clarity and strength to overcome the fear and just DO IT, AS THE BOSS HAS SAID. just don't take it too far guys, or you will end up HOSPITALIZED ON A WARD IN A STRAIT JACKET !
In regards to your second statement of targeting small to medium sized companies as potential clients. What size in regards to employee count would be considered small-medium sized?
This is a good question and I really encourage people not to dive TOO deep into the details, we want clients, not PERFECT clients, we just want PAYING clients, so I can give you a number but it really won't matter because I work with offices that have 5 employees paying me for admins and other things. Small-medium sized is anywhere from 5-500 basically. (rough number) again, wouldn't put toooo much focus on it.
