The dude was playing a lot of hands, having a good time, bringing action to the game. He was an obvious rec who made a mistake...chop was a legit and classy move for that specific player. I think most people learn a lesson from positivity not negativity. Just my opinion. Thanks for the story Lex!
I would say a chop makes sense if it made the dude happy, but he was still annoyed that he should have the whole pot. It'd be different if his cards were recoverable, or he'd flashed them to someone on the table. I'd probably just give the guy a rebate of a few hundred, it's the qualitatively the same as a chop...more than he deserves and less than he wants.
Classy move Lex, chop was the best deal. It’s hard for me to believe someone playing 5/10 doesn’t know to show his hand. Thanks for the content and hope the run good keeps coming ur way!
You did the right thing. Not the easy thing or the right thing BY THE RULES..but you showed sportsmanship and integrity. You’re the man! I would have done the same.
You the man!! Great story! You can sleep at night because you did the right thing. Loved it ans that’s one of the reasons I love watching your videos you are not only a great player but a great human!

The return in massive respect by the “pro” community and value of your reputation is priceless. Sometimes that type of decision helps encourage newer players to come back or come out and play. Tbh I watch your content but not as much as other streamers. After this I will be supporting more, you can tell when someone is genuine and I appreciate the dialogue! Good luck this year Lexo
1. You said he's good - he can turn over his hand and win 2. You turned over A high - he can turn over a better hand and win 3. You can turn over anything - he can muck and lose
I love you brother. Your such a stand up guy. Never let anyone compromise your integrity. We are supposed to treat others as we want to be treated. With that being said no matter what you decided to do I know you are going to do what you feel is right in your heart and that's all we can ask of you.
I just show when I bluff so it saves time and forces them to show. I actually don’t like it when people say you’re good or something along those lines. I usually just sit there and wait for them to show anyway. That’s me tho. Love your shit Lex!
@@supersmoo7377 If they don’t show.. I wait for them to muck. You never throw your hand in the muck if you’re the winner. At all levels you have to show the winner.
Lesson learned. I am very much down for the classy move. I play with a guy who will claim a hand he doesn't have, like "Straight" or "Set, " before showing his cards, hoping that someone will muck their winning hand. What a tool. We were all new at some point playing poker, you did right here. You helped him learn a lesson and he will probably never make that mistake again. I had a situation where I bluffed and when she called I said "Do you have a straight?" She thought I said I had a straight and mucked her hand (See the jerk lines above). She mucked her cards saying she had a set. She called a large bluff on the river and misheard what I said. I did what you did and chopped the pot. Way to keep the game, classy sir! First time watching. I go to Florida on occasion, it would be nice to play poker with you someday!
If someone miscalls their hand knowingly at any place I play, they will be kicked out at least for the day if not permanently banned. That's a horrible angle shoot and a big no-no
1) instead of saying "you're good " try saying "Ace high" . It still provides clarity to your opponent without giving useful info to the table. "Ace high " statement can be AK down to A2. It also doesn't reveal suits. Chopping pot was best decision IMO. 2) QQ was interesting hand, didn't like the way you played it tho. You seemed to hope UTG would do a limp reraise after your call but if he did where would that leave you? Also just calling here opens up the hand to being multi-multi way which we don't want of course. Another great vlog 👍.
On the fence about this one. I've taught poker etiquette to a lot of new players and tell them when it comes to the showdown you have one thing to do and one only - turn your cards over immediately. Lex was called and didn't do that; he said "You're good" twice. The rec player had three options at that point: 1. Tell Lex he's called his bet and ask him to show his cards. 2. Turn his own cards over 3. Ask Lex or the dealer - is that a muck? If Lex or the dealer said yes, then he takes the pot without showing He should not muck his hand without doing one of those things, yet he did! In Lex's position I would've immediately turned my cards ove, and we would have known if he had a pair or not. While it's highly unlikely he would have hero-called with nothing better than AT, the fact remains he mucked his hand without showing anyone, and on that basis I believe Lex gets the whole pot. No chop, expensive but very valuable lesson.
If your read is that this is "never" an angle (and I doubt it was) then either chop the pot or give him his last bet back. Nobody could fault you for keeping the whole pot, but particularly as a pro and ambassador for the game, showing some leniency here is the gracious thing to do.👍
The whole "you're good" thing is dumb. I would proudly table the AJ so I can see what they called me with, which is just as important as making your bluffs a mystery.
I know a lot of people will disagree with me and that’s fine, but if I was in your shoes, I would’ve done the exact same thing, and I have a lot of respect for you for doing exactly what you did by chopping that pot!
I love that you include baby doggo Rohge in your videos! Doggos are better than people love us unconditionally even if we get mad at them for something that’s our own fault! Love your videos!
Thanks Lex love watching your Vlogs and I always Learn something new. One thing I would like to learn from you is that what do you do when you go card dead. ? Do you just keep folding or do you play aggressively ( which I think is a bad idea especially ) when you are card dead and not hitting the board
One time at Resorts World I made a Yahtzee reference and said "small straight" when I flipped over my cards at showdown. One guy mucked and then realized I had 4 to a straight. There actually wasn't even a possible straight out there. I ended up giving the whole pot to the deal because he said he mucked a pair.
Classy move Lex. I would have had to get a visual of the 8's to give him any of it. The rules that remain the same from casino to casino, I dont have any give on no matter what confusion there is. If you're comfortable enough w the game that you are risking the money, it's on you to know the universal rules. Many dealers would not let me reach into the muck to turn his cards over (as they are told not to allow it) so if they stop me from doing so, I am walking with the pot. That said, I don't play $5-$10 but 3-5 times a year and I am not as invested in rep. You're a smart and kind hearted guy.
Same thing happened to me when I was new playing 1/2. I rivered a one card gutter with a jack with a pair of aces with AJ. Didn’t even see the straight. Opponent had AK I had AJ and folded thinking his two pair beat mine. I showed person next to me and threw cards into the muck and he was like you had a straight! I tried to grab my cards but the female dealer went off on me saying I can’t touch dead cards. I wish I would have got to chop that pot atleast. I respect the chop Lex, class move!
You certainly did the right thing specially the he was a recreational poker this will mean a lot to him. kudos to you !!!! that's why I like watching your videos and as I can see you're gaining a lot of progress. Good Luck
I think you did the right thing. Clearly he messed it up but you should be generous with a rec player. Appreciate that you chopped it. It only shows that you are a person with integrity. Kudos to your action
What you did was the very nice thing to do, I wouldn't say it was the right thing. Either way, I don't hate what you did. Being kind and empathetic is always a good thing to do. The one thing that would've made me keep the pot, was no one ever saw his cards. If he had flashed them to me then mucked and the dealer pushed me the pot because he didn't table them, that would be different. It's nice that you gave him the BOD, kudos to you Lex

Bruh you classy asf. Chop was the most fair thing to do, so kind of you to consider the Rec player coz I for sure could’ve been one of them having those mistakes LOL. Good job man 👍🏻
I agree with the chop decision. Ive been put in a similar spot before with newer players at a local game. Chopping is the best way to resolve it, doing more opens yourself up to angles, less is inconsiderate of the action being given to you.
I think you made the best choice. This guy will always remember that you acted like a great steward of the game and he'll want to continue playing the game and everybody else will also remember your choice that you made. Thanks for being a great guy.

I definitely don’t think giving him the entire pot is right ~ he made a large mistake despite whatever you said, you can’t win a pot without showing your cards if your heads up opponent shows… Edit: you chopped! I like that. On the “you’re good” comment, I completely agree with you.

Nah, you absolutely made the right call. Let’s encourage him to continue playing and not walk away thinking he got robbed. Good outcome for you as well. Well done Sir!
This is one of those times that I show no mercy, if you want to play poker then play poker, if you want to get drunk then do it away from the poker table. No mercy from me for a drunk on the road or at the poker table.
I like your vlogs, i like the way your adjusting with your content to the audience and i respect what you did. But… in my opinion a real hero thing to do was to give him that pot. U picked a mix between the rules and your personal kidness - cool. Cheers from Poland ;)
When you started the story, I thought it was going to be that you said, “you’re good,” and then he mucked straight away thinking that that meant you already conceded the pot. If that were the case, you should even consider giving the whole pot for the accidental angle. But that’s not what happened. You did (eventually) table your hand, and he never tabled his. It is possible that he actually called you down with a worse A high. You have no way of knowing he’s not lying. So I’d probably just give him the river action back and not chop the whole pot. I’m not a fan of saying “you’re good” twice, especially against a rec. If he doesn’t react, you should just table your hand.
Good move on chopping it up and also waiting to reveal what you did at the end of the vlog as the watch time increased. Good move again on the chop. It was the gentlemen thing to do
I learned a lot of lessons the hard way in poker. I would have probably given him back his River call but part of me thinks "F it, thems the rules. Learn them before you put your dough on the table" and kept the whole damn thing. Bet he never forgets that rule again if you keep the pot
LexO you're a stand up guy, BUT chopping it is worst thing you could do. You should have kept it. That lesson could have been the cheapest lesson he ever learned. Like stopping traffic just to let someone else out. Its dangerous to them and others.
Lex - cool blogs - interesting situation w the tipsy reg. Totally familiar with the “you’re good” modus operandi and the reason for it. In Panama we say “me ganaste” which is “you win” lol. My take is his beer soaked mind got stuck at the perception that you had already relinquished your hand when you said “you’re good” - and even though he didn’t want to (or didn’t know he had to after your comment) show his hand - ONCE YOU DO SHOW, in a way that forces him to show a winning hand - and he didn’t. It IS somewhat weird, provided if you had decided to muck YOUR HAND FIRST after saying “you’re good”- he would have won the pot(which is something Ive seen half the time - players say you’re good and muck immediately)….nice gesture to chop pot.
That's crazy the same exact thing happened to me last night. A recreational player limped in middle position and I raise from the SB with AQ, the player calls and its a very dry runout. All three streets are checked through, and I had just won a similar hand against this player with K high, so I figured there's a very good chance my hand is good. After the river goes check check, I say " I have Ace high", he looks a little confused and after I turn over my hand he takes a second and mucks his cards. After the cards are already being shuffled he tells the player next to him that he a had a pair, he looked extremely embarrassed and confused. Luckily this was a very small pot and he handled it very well. But in my opinion if you sit down to play a game and you don't understand all of the rules, that is on you, and in your specific situation I think you should just keep the pot and not feel bad about it all. He mucked his cards, you win.
I think you are right do the cop. I had something similar happened to me when I first started playing at the casino, but in my confusion and learning the process of the game the person I wasn't playing again gave me my $50 bet back. It was a good learning point, and a good way to build the pool of people playing
Good on you for chopping. If I was a RUclipsr like you ida done that too. I will say you got lucky on that QQ hand but imo I would have 3 bet pre flop. Worked out great though. Your a pro ima rec but an action rec so I woulda been loosing my ass on that QQ run out. Love your content bro. Keep it up.
I think that was honorable what u did with that gentleman I have alot respect for what u did. Good job lex I have watched all of your videos your one of the best keep it up
I had somewhat of a similar situation I had 10/9 and bluffed 3 streets on J J 9 3 9, when the player called on the river I put my cards face down into the middle and he showed 55, I grabbed my still identifiable cards and flipped them over and won. The pot was around 700 and at the time I was playing 1/3 with only around a 3k bankroll. Want to hear what others have to say about this, was I wrong?
I would have kept all the money for one simple fact. He is a rec player. He knows the rules we all do. You have no way of knowing if he was lying or not. So you can’t trust him. He could have had the losing hand and did that just to try and make you feel sorry. No way you should do anything but stack the chips.

The only way to concede the pot is to muck/fold. If your opponent doesn't muck/fold you MUST show your hand to win.
Nice attitude man, you did the right thing, even if the mistake was not yours !
Good move on chopping it up and also waiting to reveal what you did at the end of the vlog as the watch time increased.
Good move again on the chop. It was the gentlemen thing to do
100% you were beat with the pocket queens. I can see how the rec player was confused. You did the right thing chopping the pot.
Thats why we love ya lex. Classy move.
How are you able to record at the hard rock ? I play there also and they told me absolutely no recording can take place.
There's no shot you were ahead on the turn vs JJ sure but not the third player that mucked when dude rivered a set.
Did I miss the end stats?
Very nice Lex
I think you are right do the cop. I had something similar happened to me when I first started playing at the casino, but in my confusion and learning the process of the game the person I wasn't playing again gave me my $50 bet back. It was a good learning point, and a good way to build the pool of people playing
Good on you for chopping. If I was a RUclipsr like you ida done that too. I will say you got lucky on that QQ hand but imo I would have 3 bet pre flop. Worked out great though. Your a pro ima rec but an action rec so I woulda been loosing my ass on that QQ run out. Love your content bro. Keep it up.
You good, you the man, good lucky in 2023
win win win

You did the right thing. Class.
Classy player like Mariano! You are going far! Looking forward to you playing like Mariano!
Congrats on 50k🎉🎉🎉
Classy move with the chop.
Classy move with the chop. Good on you bro.
You been more than fair, chop it up. Great deal to the recreational player. 🎉
Roge living the good life , love your blog , at times very good stuff someyimes bad calls but that's poker , thanks !
It depends on whether he was a nice guy or not. Nice guy I split the pot. Douche I keep the chips
Going all in with JJ with the A is good. Because if you have KK you might fold and give him a shot at the main
I would have kept all the money for one simple fact. He is a rec player. He knows the rules we all do. You have no way of knowing if he was lying or not. So you can’t trust him. He could have had the losing hand and did that just to try and make you feel sorry. No way you should do anything but stack the chips.
It was the right thing to do lex. Good for you. Best wishes!
You did the right thing man of your word. Kid should have been thankful if it was me I would not have accepted your offer you won the hand
