  • Academy Color Encoding System or ACES is the industry standard for managing color throughout the life cycle of a motion picture or television production. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which is generally known as the Oscars, has introduced this TV and film industry-standard to streamline and standardize the color grading workflows during the whole process of making films and TV shows. Film studios and their coloring teams are starting to adopt the standard little by little and in near future, it can have great effects on the industry and what is considered "accepted" motion pictures.

Mmmm, c'est pas avec mon matos, DJI pocket3 et Première Pro, que je vais travailler les ACES, c'est trop pointu, mais de savoir que cela existe c'est bien pour sa culture personelle.

The hype about ACES is soon to die. ACES doesn't manage color well, and it doesn't look right either. It's not how the human eye perceives color. If you want a better color space, go for AGX. However, I still prefer a linear workflow with Reinhard applied because that's more aligned with human perception. I see more and more people coming back to linear. ACES literally processes everything with a strong color shift, making everything contrasty and oversaturated.

@@memcrew1 No... they already didn't; I dont know if you've noticed but all of film has already been downhill for over 40 years -- nothing good is coming anytime soon.
