I’m a single 20 year old black woman, and this podcast and mukbangs with these two families bring me sooooo much joy... I mentally not ready for any of the things they talk about however I feel like it relates so much to my life! My parents have been together for 25 years and when I watch these... I just have a feeling this is what my parents would have been going through at there age, now that there established the stories are great... but there is real beauty in the struggle of being young! I appreciate all the content and kindness you bring into the world!

Thank you all for reminding me how important it is to understand the possible expression behind the words. I realized thinking over the week, that in addition to words of praise/affirmation, one of my his' love languages is quality time. When he says to me, going to the gym & working out with loved ones is his love language, he may mean working out together, attaining goals together, modifying routines together, experimenting on patterns together, & building strength together, but he would've said simply: I like to workout with you. So, when he told me he sees a lot of time together in marriage as the goal, that now made more sense. That isn't my background, I've usually witnessed routines centered around a set activity, then lots & lots & too much autonomy, which is how I have behaved. I also realize, due to background stuff, I struggle to receive words of affirmation because they don't jive with how I've been taught to look at myself through others' eyes. So, the reassurance I look for hasn't been in his compliments or invitations (which confuse me emotionally due to my stuff) but in trying to interpret bigger goals & things holding us back. I'm overstanding in this moment though due to anxiety, so I'll hold off on commenting again until the end.
Okay, great podcast! Also, I too need time to process. Not as much as I used to, but when I'm feeling, I cannot put my feelings on hold. I can hold my physical reactions as much as I can, but there's usually spillover. The easiest thing for me to do is to go ahead & work through it because if I don't, it will just get sloppy. He's more of a act, identify what's next person. It can be jarring because I'm still feeling & he's already onto the next thing & tackling the outcome. I prefer to wait to minimize impact. If I have a big reaction, it's been building up. If I concentrate on smaller reactions, I can handle it better because I really don't like having to clean up situations that didn't have to turn into situations.
One thing I cannot do is watch this while driving because I was cracking up. When Marcus and Angel were talking about how that android camera looked, I lost it all 😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣
My wife and I are quarantining and I have an outlet because i go to work for 9 day stretches at a time so we get a break from each other. But when this thing first started and we were at home together 24/7 I couldn't get up from my chair without her asking "Where YOU going?"... It got on my nerves so bad I had to retreat to the basement and lift weights, listen to a podcast, go outside, etc. On another note, when it comes to hobbies or passions of one half of the couple. That person enjoys those activities as a pursuit and unless they ask you do so, don't actively insert yourself into that person's activity. Some people need solitary pursuits to clear their heads or center themselves. Other folks enjoy more group oriented activity. It's all about being able to recognize those things about each other. I appreciate that Kevin agreed to build furniture to help soothe Melissa's senses, even though the activity made him want to slit his wrists, LOL!!. That's being married and that's how it should work.

I think the key is finding and understanding your love languages and realizing and understanding your spouse love languages.
