One more thing that makes me dislike the surface mounting is that the light is free to move to the fall-from-the-sky position on the screw heads. You might be able to make the screws just tight enough that there is friction to make them stable, or perhaps push them to one extreme and screw something else into the joist to make sliding impossible.

I used the same lights in my shop. I simply cut the wires, ran the cord to an octagon box and hardwired them in (x8). Been 4 years not a hitch.

Definitely looks good and beats the regular outdated neon tubes. It would definitely light up my garage. Will definitely consider that option once the garage renovation project makes it to the top of the to-do list!

These are sold under several different names on Amazon. I have 40 going up in my big shop and the main failure I have found is the switches are JUNK!!! And actually melt. So all switches are getting cut out before they go up. Amazon has a few pictures of the failures if you search hard enough

I have been fortunate. No problems. If you want true quality, stay away from Amazon and spend more. All of these cheap lighting brands are made in China. No quality control or regs.

The only unbiased review would be if you had bought the light fixtures. you still have a biased if they give them to you. That’s just a scientific fact nothing against you
