    Holy Zucchini! That's *huge* !
    I really wish you were my neighbours. I'd happily volunteer for weeding duty just so I could feel the soil in my hands. IMO, there's nothing quite so rewarding as growing your own food and eating the rewards of your toil. Well done, guys!

    Great garden plenty of variety. I use to grow a big organic veg garden. Now it's a cottage garden still 90 % organic. The summer flowers are fading and a few autumn flowers starting to bud. Of course with a flower garden the only havest is the momeries of the colors and scents to feed your soul. Thanks from Chicago.

    i love watching videos about your garden, it reminds me of my grandpas vegetable garden when i was little. The broad beans especially! He would make some sort of salad from them, with lots of garlic (also from his garden) and he'd smell like garlic all the time :P He's been gone 12 years now, but seeing your beautiful harvest made me miss him and my childhood a lot.

    We had the same courgettes in our garden! Only, it happened quite often that we didn't see them all when harvesting, so we had to invest in a freezer to save them. But it's a good thing because our garden is giving us lots of veggies this year :)

    I think you makes the best homesteading videos and much more on RUclips! Pure joy, although I am sure you don't always feel that way. There is a depth of understated appreciation of the delights of growing things in the way you narrate. I had a tomato plant given me this year. With nowhere else to put it, I plonked it in the front garden where it has grown to triffid proportions! It was a Romano tomato for cooking. I cannot tell you the pride (quite misplaced) that I feel every time I pick a couple of tomatoes and cook them up for supper. And that is the sum of my veggie growing, ever! 😃

    I use landscape fabric. I do love it for stopping the weeds! This year i moved the fabric aside to allow walk ways. Well of course the weeds came back so I mulched them with newspaper and put coffee grounds atop. Your soil is BEAUTIFUL! That is a pretty plant. It looks like a purple brassica plant, but looking at those rhizomes, Yep it's got to go! My concern about the straw is that it will provide a haven for rodents. Chard is very pretty. I feed it to my caged rabbit. He lives outdoors. How do you prepare your chard. I have only eaten it raw in salads. I grew cow peas this year for a cover crop. I am amazed at how they grow and cover, like the beans.

    • @WayOutWestx2
      @WayOutWestx2  7 лет назад

      The plastic will come off again in a month or so, so I hope not too much harm will be done in that time.
      Chard is good steamed too - or in a stir-fry. Try it!
