I think I've listened to this close to 100 times now this is one of my favorite tracks I have found recently.

Yup, the fact that the background music from Mr. Vain speeds the song up makes a WORLD of difference. The original of this is far too slow by contrast.

Surprisingly superb, but way too short!

Perhaps I should make an extended version if this mashup continues to perform as well as it's doing now.
It's starting to really get a boost and I'm loving it :)

I don't know the first thing about audio mixing (and bravo, this was great btw) but I've been into dance music for damn near 30 years. That said, if you were to try to make an extended mix, if *I* were to try this I'd do this --
0:08 - Katy starts singing. (That was way earlier than I expected but... somehow it worked great actually).
0:36 - "When I'm gone I'm never really gone..." starts. Insert "Call him Mr. Raider" lyrics here instead and extend it to...
1:06 - where it transitions into "verse 2" from Katy... ("You're chasing the danger..." )
1:34 - "When I'm gone I'm never really gone" repeats. Insert "Call him Mr. Raider" here, OR the rapper part from Mr Vain and see if you can stretch it to 2:03 (or longer if you want to finish the whole Rap verse from Mr. Vain**)
2:03 - "Calling Mr. Raider" starts. Here instead, insert the "When I'm gone I'm never really gone" part, and then start to fade out either with the complete "Calling Mr. Raider" part (no Rapper) OR REPEAT "When I'm gone I'm never really gone..." all the way to fade out. (perhaps with a few "Calling Mr. Raider" lines splashed in, fused together)
**XX:XX (wherever the Mr. Vain part stopped and Katy started singing again) -- Maintain the fade out with "When I'm gone I'm never really gone..." and then REPEAT the "When I'm gone I'm never really gone..." sequence all the way to fade out.
I bring this up because your version here only really had 30 seconds of the Mr. Vain lyrics and I wanted more; yet I see incredible potential here if you made another version that was longer and made it more 50/50. Maintaining the Instrumental from Mr. Vain THE WHOLE TIME meanwhile is perfect because the instrumental from "When I'm gone" is far too slow with not enough BPM to make this work. So good job there too.
If you want a further explanation of where I'm trying to go with this, look up "Culture Beat vs. Snap - Mr. Vain is a Dancer" on here and listen to the 6:07 of magnificence and take note of how well both songs/sets of lyrics fuse together. The original video got Copyright Strike'd out but the comments were some variant of "10/10, absolutely amazingly perfect" in 99% of them.

While I like the idea, I'm thinking it might be better to have the choruses exchange vocals since ppl who know the Katy Perry song will at least like to sing the chorus right after the verses. Let the Mr. Vain chorus play after Katy's choruses (could be in one or both).
After the second chorus, thinking of maybe using the Mr. Vain rap verse as the bridge since the Katy song only has two verses and choruses and is lacking a bridge.
I'm also thinking you extend it already by using one of the original extended Mr. Vain versions, but that's going to be something to work out.
