@@garveyevans3021 That’s great pal, respect to you.Early UB40 was the best, I have this 12” with all my other UB vinyl. I was massive into them back in the day, being a Brummie too.
@@123tonyking I bet they were. I've seen Brian Travers in interviews and he came across as very real, genuine and down to earth. Love his sax playing 💚🎷
I can still remember as a school kid in the late 70s going to my life long best friends house ( he is a white guy ) and he was playing a tape of UB40 on his Sony ‘Ghetto Blaster’ and I started jammin to the vibe and I knew this guy was gonna be my friend for life.. I was shocked that he listened to black music and reggae at that... He turned and told me the lead singer was “white” and I nearly fell off my chair... I’m proud to say I’ve seen UB40 sing live before they split... I’m Godfather to my friends 1st Daughter and he was my Best Man when I got married in Jamaica.... @Kylo Damian I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.

+ian draper Just bought an old radiogram from the 70's. Looking to build a record collect 'Signing Off' and 'Present Arms' are top of my list (along with The Specials) You can't beat an old radiogram for 70's music and reggae/two tone.
Not with every song, but in many cases, I LOVE reggae, ska AND dub. I know the songs earth dies screaming and dream a lie well too. Great taste, ian draper!
Been listening to that angelic voice of Ali and support of the amazing and talented boys since my youth in the 80s. Man it makes me so nostalgic but happy that I'm still here and was able to turn my three beautiful children (21, 20, & 18) into life long fans of the UB40. I hope to hear this on my final day on earth...I'll go to sleep with a smile on my face. LITTLE BAGARIDDIM!!! ✌🏽& 1⃣ ♥️ to all of the UB fans still out here in almost 2021, pandemic style, WHERE YOU AT?!?! ☀️🏖 🎶 🏝 🎸🎧🎤😎😃
As a 14/ 15 yr old in the care system a got into ub40 and listen to them for hrs wondering what was to be .45yrs later im still listening like it was yesterday but with much water past under the bridge and a clearer rd ahead .Ali you have one hell of a voice and how many must be out there that has a story that goes with the first few Albums from day one ie Signing off labour of love ect .

"The mic toasting" what a beautiful expression I never heard it. What does it mean though? Is it toasting because the vocals are on fire? Or is it some type of singing-style? Is it a filter they use? Please explain! :-)
About 43 years ago the man in the record store I frequented said, I have something for you. A new reggae band from the UK. Have a listen. This was in Amsterdam, The Netherlands where we were slightly behind with import at that time. lol That was present arms in dub, ordered everything else they had made and never looked back. At that time I was probably the only person to walk around with a "boombox" as it was an old Phillips cassette recorder that ate 6 big batteries a day. Everyone that heard the tape was going, wtf who is this!!??
they lost the plot after UB44, so even if they did get it sorted, dont mean they will get the Hunger and brilliance back that they had at the very beginning..... unfortunately.
My introduction to reggae...spent many years looking for a replacement for my damaged copy...found it this week on holiday in Montpellier. JAH WILL PROVIDE.
This group's first three albums plus their live album was a mix of them but after that the edge wore out on their political dagger as they went on an attention hunt by fans who have never or rarely play the first three albums, every time I say I like UB40,the always say "oh red red wine"I say " aye sure"through gritted teeth, this is were the real UB40 are, keep on listening people.god bless.
Yes I tend to agree. I saw them at Ratanga Junction in Cape town couple a years ago, doing there what they do best. I was totally blown away, ever since they are under my skin, each and everyone of them brilliant

Classic 12in. From the british masters of reggae!
but it wasn't on the original 12inch , shame,as its a good extended mix
This is an old school reggae from England thanks God for those good old days

They need to get back together and make another album; call it 'UB United'
such a classic, and what a great message to us all - "don't slow down" !, that is, keep grabbing the best from life!
