My smile at a clumsy guy who was about to go onstage quickly changed by a mouth wide open because of the sheer beauty of this song... and then came cathartic tears. I didn't understand a word in beautiful Portuguese, I didn't know who he was and what health issues the singer had, I was stunned, mesmerized, hypnotized by music and this raw, heartfelt emotion that makes a Eurovision song ART.

Do you realize how big this victory is? After decades of fireworks and extravagance, Eurovision is won by a modest young man who just climbed onto the stage and sang his heart out. We needed him! Pure emotion and simplicity is what the world needs (or, at least, the music world), and it warms my heart that so many people recognized the beauty these two talented people offered us. Artists like these deserve the spotlight, and the world deserves artists like these. I hope they influence the direction in which music is going. I am surely more optimistic about the world now.

This song makes me cry. It's so pure and true, full of emotions that touch your heart. Why are some people saying that it is boring or it doesn't deserve the win? The Eurovision this year was about celebrating diversity and this is exactly what diversity is. At the end of the day, everyone's a winner in their own way. Sublime, touchy and outstanding! The best song Portugal has ever sent to the contest and this year's most beautiful entry by far. Once upon a time the Eurovision "song" contest used to be about songs, not about best fireworks or best special effects. To see fragile Salvador standing alone on that tiny circle among the audience singing his sister's little masterpiece in Portuguese gave me goosebumps. For three magical minutes I just forgot I was watching one of the world's freakiest shows. The motto of this edition is "Celebrate Diversity" but, funny enough, all the songs sound exactly the same and they are all sung in English. I couldn't feel or see any diversity last night in Kiev but a celebration of globalisation and alienation instead... Except for song number 9! Well done Portugal, you are my winner and I would love to be with you in Lisbon (or Porto, or wherever you want in your beautiful country) in May 2018. I couldnt say it better. It's more than month after eurovision and I'm still going back to it and listen to Salvador Sobral. For sure the best performance I've ever seen on Eurovision. He truly is a genious I think because he is real, genuine, he's not pretending anything, he's just himself and he totally gives into the song.

The first time I heard it I found it strange until I realized that I was not listening the music but watching Salvador's strange moves ... but now I understand why for the first time in decades this song is gathering the support of so many people. Maybe we have a surprise either he wins or not and other countries decide to return to the genesis of this contest and introduce songs which represent them. I will watch the final again for the first time in the past 10 years, this song made me want to do that again. You just have to close your eyes and listen. This is what music is made of.
