One thing about the cold hearted appearance is that we know that anger, fear, and worry don't achieve anything. It is more productive to put those emotions aside and concentrate on solving the problem/predicament. Emotion can come out when the situation is stable and we've snuck away before others make a scene in which we do not want to be on display.
