- After 10 years, my DAC started making a high-pitched whining noise when powering up. Warm-up of 10-15 minutes is needed for it to begin working normally.
I have learned the experience of other owners. Many thanks for this video • Cambridge Audio Dacmag...
It turns out that this is a very common problem that is easy to fix.
I filmed the whole process on video and am glad to share it. Maybe this will help give new life to other devices, not just Creative Audio but other brands.
So don't rush to send your DAC for spare parts or trash!
Welcome to share your experience in the comments and subscribe to my channel, I have many ideas for new videos.

Интересное видео, но странно, что просмотров еще так мало.. пробовали развить через ютифай?
I can't yet figure out how to make this video available for English speaking audience through adding subtitles. As video is in Ukrainian.
my DAC Magic works, BUT has distorted sound with some muffing in mid and low frequencies - as if the speakers are blown, you know? Speakers are fine though. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
I think it can be fixed by caps replacement like I made
My DACMagic+ has no sound on the RCA, Balanced or Headphone outputs. When I manage to connect it via USB or with an optical input (it doesn't always connect successfully) it gives output only to the optical output and works fine but through an external dac. Some advise to change all electrolytes and voltage stabilizers, but in case there is a beep at the output. I can only hear a brief sound of the headphones turning on and off which tells me that the preamps (op amps) are working. I suspect a short circuit on Electrolyte C171 (it's not from him, I checked it outside the PCB with an ESR). Should I have a short circuit here (which I find strange). What is causing that short circuit for me? Coil I think is not connected in parallel with Electrolyte C171. There is no short circuit on the Electrolyte C170 which is next to it. Please help.
From your symptoms it looks like replacing capacitors should help. Both RADIAL and CMD (replacing alumni ones helped in my case).
I also tried to use multimeter to identify which one has short circuit, but all appeared to be working. I assume when it's getting old it changes characteristics. So don't waste your time, replace them all.
I do not have the electrical schematic of the device. Only official service has. And I'm not an expert, it's more like a hobby. Economically it's cheaper to buy a new device than invest in fixing a broken one ))
@@lifeplushack Could you check on your board what the resistance of C171 is, it would mean a lot to me. It's 0 ohms for me. Did you change all 6 bipolar capacitors?
And do you have a list of all the capacitors you changed?
@@zlatkotemelkovskable In my video I'm saying that I've changed only bi-polar, because I made a mistake and ordered all polar. In your case it looks like NP has to be replaced too.
@@zlatkotemelkovskable Find the full list I ordered under below link. NOTE: those which has to be non-polar I marked as NP, the rest are polar. In my order I added one more for each position (just in case I spoil while soldering or receive non working item) drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IYTu_C-CmL0nRtvWOiry8dhp3aF9FOzu?usp=sharing
