If you were wondering, the burning blade figurehead is still in wanderers refuge cave so there's two of them in game currently Just wanted to mention this😅
I learnt about the tales of monkey island series through my gf, we played a few through that were available on steam and this is a super solid theory man. I reckon you're on the money here
The fact that this collaboration is such a critical part of the storyline and that it has been planned for over 2-3 years is absolutely mindblowing. I'm just speechless
My first thought was LeChuck. He's got a history of disguises and the green "zombie" look as opposed to the the Pirate Lord's spectral blue-green color.
@b_alshammari Granted I still assumed that it was the dark brethren since they are a villain group that's also against flameheart, and the sword of souls tainted with flameheart's essence is said to be the weapon that could end him.
I thought it was Lechuck, it makes sense and it would actually give our characters a reason on why we have to find Guybrush because we will probably need him to help us stop Lechuck and get the sword of souls back
They did say the Legend of Monkey Island would have a link to the Flameheart story. I would love to see the Servent of Flame confront Le Chuck. "The only person I hate more than your father is that blasted..." Guybrush falls from the ceiling screaming. "...THREEPWOOD!"
It could be duke, considering we haven't heard from him, and rats are the symbol of the bilge rats. It also makes sense how he would know so much about the NPCs from every outpost.
I like your idea of Duke. Right now he is just a guy. We have Wanda, maker of the cursed cannonballs and founder of the Reaper’s Bones. Amoranta, a co-leader in the Arena, wielder of the Gold Hoarder staff, killer of one of the sea’s most famous pirate. The Siren Queen, the leader of the ocean crawler and siren army. The Cap’n, the leader who works from the shadows and owner of Davy Jone’s heart. And Duke, a guy who sold cosmetics and voyages until his group kicked him out. Duke needs needs a power up. He was a Bilge rat potentially explaining his rat form, he was apart of Flameheart’s crew in a past life (and the Burning Blade was apart of the tale). I hope it’s Duke Edit: with Flameheart Jr. saying “perhaps there is a new Duke in the making” what if instead of literally there being a new Duke. He meant Duke is changing as in becoming more powerful
Oh yeah, lots of small details that stick out that it made the practice names in the back really on the nose. The thing that I picked up on first was just how bossy and pompous he was acting, then I noticed the way he underlined his name on the first page, then my friend pointed out the last page (hadn't read that far yet) and I just felt like facepalming xD
1:55 You can find a journal from two people who iirc call themselves Anvil and Hammer noting they're working on reconstructing the Burning Blade and they say something like "I came up with the idea to use the Blackwych for the Burning Blade's crucial parts, which makes it even more or a hit to Pendragon - Hammer (not that we had much of a choice though) - Anvil" I spotted it next to the two barrels almost directly below the figurhead as I was doing the adventure. Back to the other aspects though, this is a very interesting theory. I saw some people saying it was Flameheart but that just didn't make sense to me since we literally take parts from his own ship's figurehead. My two theories were 'H' from the hoarders hunt since the promo work hinted at him having green eyes or Pendragon. Apart from the green eyes though that was where my theory for 'H' ended, but I felt Pendragon's still held some weight. The green eyes do match that of the portrait in the Blackwych's captain's quarters, not to mention the rat in there which doesn't seem to have much of an explanation as to why it's there. I also thought it could be Pendragon because of the pocket watch, to me the only one who would realistically know who had it and that Olivia likely wouldn't be willing to part with it made me wonder if it was him. There's also the dialogue about the sword, other than Le Chuck (as you've suggested) or Flameheart (who was ruled out the moment we took parts from his ship) I can't exactly see anyone who would need to find the sword of souls or be "searching all this time" for it, other than it's original owner.. Pendragon. It certainly is a bit of a stretch but I'd be willing to say there's a chance it's either Pendragon or Le Chuck.
I understand Lechuck, because in the orb teaser with the imposter and vault Flameheart Jr. talks about that legend rotting in his prison. Which could be a point to Lechuck. But I really like the idea of Duke. He is the weakest of the group. He doesn’t have much going for him in this life. When Flameheart Jr. said “we have a new Duke in the making” he could be referring to Duke changing, becoming more powerful. The Burning Blade was also in this adventure which he would have been on. All in all I guess it’s fine if it’s Lechuck, but I would love to see Duke have something special for him, because right now Duke has is no threat.
This was my theory. It just makes sense with everything revealed in the adventure. I also found it fun that I immediately knew that this pirate lord was an imposter. It was very funny going around knowing I am working for an imposter
I honestly hated that they gave up the deception from the beginning. We saw it coming a mile away. After releasing Flameheart, we would never have fallen for it again. Makes me feel like my pirate is stupid.
Another small key of evidence could be that the pirate lord says (paraphrasing) "damn, they got away. This compass isn't pointing anywhere, they probably aren't even in the sea of thieves anymore"
Something I noticed that totally helps this theory, at the end of the adventure the real pirate lord says the fake has gone too far for the compass to work, some like like... and I believe he's talking about the sea of the damned, and that being where the monkey Island tales will take us I totally believe this theory
Another fun fact that the last page where the fake pirate lord has practiced his name writing skills. The Great Pirate Lord is actually the letters of how Lechuck signs his letters G.P.L or The Ghost Pirate Lechuck. Something fun me and my crew noticed.
And also all the evidence in the Dark Brethren Tall Tale hinting towards Hook, with the hook markings on the chair and the double burn marks on the table suggesting it could be his duo-cigar-smoking-pipe. Refering to Falcores own video "A NEW Enemy Emerges!"
@@andyralph4666I just don’t want the captain to be a crossover character period, I want this critical character that’s been teased for years to be original to the SoT universe
7:13 Not only that, but in Tales of Monkey Island, that is entirely his goal, to tear a path between the living and the dead world so he could use La Sponge Grande to siphon voodoo energy straight from the source and to use it to become all powerful. That said we also got the story of Return to Monkey Island which just had that whole chest thing.
Incredibly good call on him being the captain I'm guessing, but when he says "we" I think he means him and the player Also yeah he's totally lechuck, I called it at the end of the adventure thanks to falcore's video lol
Here is my really dumb crazy theory but what if the imposter is Pendragon? We went to Madame Olivia to get HIS compass, we go to Shipwreck Bay where HE was banished in his own prison. We go to the Burning Blade where we break a part of the ship, the ship of the man who HE freed and was banished for. We can also find a rat in HIS ship where he laid trapped for a long time. We then followed a compass to HIS sword. He then says “I hope you enjoy clearing up the mess we made!” Which could imply to how Pendragon entrusted the trust in us and how all of us chose the wrong answer (in his point of view). This adventure was about Pendragon. Now you might say “but the adventure wasn’t that long ago! Pendragon couldn’t have turned evil in that time!” Time works differently in the SotD. For us it was a few months, but for him it could be another eternity. What if while the Dark Brethren was looking for the cure to the curse. They found Pendragon, showed him the Sea of Thieves and what that he was forgotten of. Maybe along their search Pendragon may have learned of a skill that allows him to shapeshift. I don’t 100% believe in this theory and would much rather it be Duke than Pendragon, but I still think it an option for the imposter
imagine more pirates from more medias entering the sea of thieves like fortnite with your infinites cameos, but only for pirates, if the world is shadered and the world is open for others "dimensions" this is very hype and with the team of writers that sea of thieves have i can even imagine
I love how you switch your theory of the Cap'n being LeChuck instead of Hook without addressing all the evidence that made us think it was Hook in the first place.
Who said I switched my theory? Its just another theory. You can't switch theories, that's impossible. Theories are not based in fact, so therefore not real, so its possible to have multiple.
i think once the burning blade is made a large fight happens then flame heart talks to the pirate lord about peace and the dark brethern with the captain are spotted at the devils roar and a huge fight breaks out with pirate lord and flamheart fightin the captian togeather
I'm hoping the corrupted sword of souls is in some sort of in-between state. That it's only just become corrupted and will warp later into something more interesting
The only reason I don't think Le Chuck is the Capt. is that I feel like Flameheart's former captain wouldn't be referred to as "another Duke in the making", but I could be wrong.
So if they're rebuilding the Burning Blade at shipwreck bay (to be the Reapers flagship), I wonder if the half-built ship in the drydock of New Golden Sands is going to serve as the flagship for the good guys (whether Athenas, Hunters Call, etc.)? 🤔
I do think that your theory has merit, but how could the Capt'n that was mentioned in books and as a core piece of Pre-SOT lore be a main villain in a lucasart game?
I was thinking it might be Duke, as in the room with the sword 2 things stand out to me. 1) there's a hat and eyepatch hanging next to the door, and Duke needs an eyepatch now. 2) everything in that room that's examinable, the prompt is "Examine Artefact" not "Artifact"..... Duke wasn't the brightest, but it's a really.....strange choice for the devs and makes me question whether it would be LeChuck or anything monkey island related. Idk, am I reading too much into this?
I do think the imposter is LeChuck, but i don't think LeChuck is the captain. If he's related to the dark whatever he must be just another member, like Davy Jones. I do really think the captain is captain hook, like you pointed in a video by the marks in the table.
It can't be lechuk or whatever his name is spelled. His eyes are red and the rat has green eyes. I figured it has to be related to the dark brethren. My idea of it being Duke may still stand but the voice throws that idea away in the trash. I also doube Lechuk is the cap'n....he was in the lore before monkey island was a thing.
Not gonna lie, there’s absolutely no reason for Lechuck to be the impostor. What would Lechuck want with the sword of souls? And how would he know of the pirate lord and his connection to Pendragon? Furthermore, I believe that the legend of monkey island trilogy is going to be isolated from the rest of sea of thieves lore. The most they could and would combine the storylines is with a very slight and short appearance such as Davy Jones for a time being a member of the Dark Brethren, before shortly being defeated. TL;DR, Lechuck has no reason to want the sword of souls, and monkey island is isolated from SoT
i do think the shapeshifter is luchuck and that luchuck will be affiliated with the dark brethren but i do not think he is there leader becuse i think that is still cpt hook
Btw, if you read the note beside the 2 red flares in the room under the tavern 🍺 it says if it's used in a right way it can spawn a megaladon 😮 you should make a video about it
I think chuck is working for the brethren so that they can fully open the gate way for the cap’n I thin he’s a skeleton that’s taller than any skeleton or Ashen lords And I believe his flag ship will be sailing through And that it’s size will rival all ships Hell if hook joins maybe he will be converted to a skeleton and help the cap’n Plus who doesn’t love a unique character rather than hook being tha cap’n It feels more likely
I don't know if anyone has seen this but I was at shipwreck bay the other day and I saw the rat with the glowing eyes on a ship there I wasn't able to record it but I was wondering if anyone else knew about it
I didnt know he practiced his writing in that book he gave us. I just got immediate red flags when I saw the penmanship and how he kept addressing himself as "the great pirate lord" or "the legendary pirate lord". I knew the pirate lord wasn't egotistical so I knew something was off right away. I figured it was Duke.
Nobody else feel like that last line from the fake pirate lord sounded like Pendragon? I agree with your theory but did the adventure first and immediately thought it sounded like Pendragon. Might just be the same voice actor sounding similar but...
Me and my crewmate were joking that at the end of the adventure there was going to be a FLAMEHEART WINS button with sticky note over it saying pirate lord wins
The only thing about this adventure that I don't understand is why, instead of actual things to do in the game, did they spend so much time creating something that serves no in game purpose, can be delivered to the lore nerds on 4 pages of a comic book, and gonna be gone in two weeks anyway...
Generally good theory, and it almost does line up but I'm almost certain it's not Lechuck. Another thing you should look into is, Trouble. You thought it was the cat being shown right? Incorrect, Trouble is actually the launch trailer Cat. The crew in the launch trailer are The Cap'ns crew. This is all the information I'll give you. Go search my friend, you will discover a lot more. P.S - Trouble is a witch that was turned into a cat. *laughs internally*
@@CaptainFalcore 'the Cat is just a generic cat.' Incorrect, lets see. It has scars, it's blind in the same eye when you alter the brightness, it's 100% trouble the witch who was turned into a cat by the cap'n. The cat isn't even in game in the same style. They is one that is like it without the scars and blind eye. Insiders cat closely looks like trouble but without the scars. The one you pointed out in game doesn't match the type of cat, Wildcat. The one you pointed out hasn't got the same tail as trouble, isn't blind and doesn't have scars on it. I know you also don't get told as much as you make out from the developers, so your response I'll take as speculation much like my own opinion but mine actually makes sense and goes with the lore and before you say 'Developers always change things' yes they do, but they wouldn't change the cat or how it looked as it's already lore before the cap'n even appears in game.

IMO the imposter is what the athena blessing should have looked like where the cloths are affecting and there's no sparkles
Did anyone else knew that in a he first tall tail in the pirates life it was referenced but the ship was broken
Nobody else feel like that last line from the fake pirate lord sounded like Pendragon? I agree with your theory but did the adventure first and immediately thought it sounded like Pendragon. Might just be the same voice actor sounding similar but...
Rare: write that down, write that down
Checks out, LeChuck transforms into the pirate lord during the tall tale mocking the real Ramsey
this reminds me of the evil pirate lord story that little kid made lol
I come from the future. Yep, you were right.
Me and my crewmate were joking that at the end of the adventure there was going to be a FLAMEHEART WINS button with sticky note over it saying pirate lord wins
My guess is LeChuck
What do you think about Pendragon?
@shadowlord6517 I think lechuck is more likely. Dude can shape-shift and is a nefarious character.
hmm yea you're right
59 more minutes now
@@kaledmasterme My thoughts exactly.
I feel la chuck could definitely be the captain, it honestly makes way more sense then Captain Hook.
Why would Lechuck be after the sword???
A rat?
The ghost/zombie/demon pirate LeChuck disguised as a rat!
Bro was 100% correct
i already knew he was the captain! was obvi from the start ngl 😂
Dropping the kegs again Falcore!
once the adventure started I knew from the get go the pirate lord was a fake, it was quite fun though.
I thought it was Duke because he can't write well and on the last page of the book he was trying to write the pirate lords signature
I get duke vibes too, that and he turns into a rat, bilge rat, fitting
jeez u scared me at the end and by accident i just pressed subscribe -.-
The Capn is obviously Capn Crunch 😤
Why didn’t the pirate lord do anything about it?
The only thing about this adventure that I don't understand is why, instead of actual things to do in the game, did they spend so much time creating something that serves no in game purpose, can be delivered to the lore nerds on 4 pages of a comic book, and gonna be gone in two weeks anyway...
Falcore doesn’t predict the lore… *he is the lore*
so if we're going after LeChuck, does that mean we get root beer-themed weapons?
this makes me think
I think Fake PL's line of "the mess WE made" refers to him and US.
Why does this make so much sense?
Aged like wine
Generally good theory, and it almost does line up but I'm almost certain it's not Lechuck. Another thing you should look into is, Trouble. You thought it was the cat being shown right? Incorrect, Trouble is actually the launch trailer Cat. The crew in the launch trailer are The Cap'ns crew. This is all the information I'll give you. Go search my friend, you will discover a lot more. P.S - Trouble is a witch that was turned into a cat. *laughs internally*
The crew in the launch trailer are actually the developers Pirates and not the Cap'ns crew, the Cat is just a generic cat.
I thought it has something to do with the gold hoarder since all the rats have his eyes
the SUBSCRIBE at the end xD
