That is lovely to hear, Audrey!! We are so excited to have you as a member of the Not Reading for Content Book Club! We look forward to seeing what you think about this pilot book!
This sounds fun, and some different reads which is always fun! Library holds saved, but looks like might be behind for Dec, but should be caught up before the end. I don't often purchase books, usually do library loans. I'm also more of a digital book reader, just kindle app on my phone so I can read anywhere I go, and it's comfortable to hold even in bed. We do purchase, usually if we'll both be reading, or I really enjoy the book/series and think I'll do a re-read.
Glad you will be able to read with us. No worries about timing. You can always wait to watch an episode if you are behind. We love supporting the library! Glad you have found a way to make it work for you. Having easy access on the go is a fantastic way to prioritize the reads you want to get to.
In Germany most "hyped" books are published as a hardback, and a year later we get the small paperback. Lately a lot of publishers go for the bigger paperbacks instead of the hardcover which I really like.
I agree I tend to prefer the larger paperbacks. Hardbacks are pretty to be sure, but when reading I like the comfort of a paperback. And if it is floppy, even better!
This looks interesting! Unfortunately, my library doesn't have it, and my December is already booked with the Reindeer Readathon, but I'm hopeful for January!
Ohhhh, I totally didnt see the train/title as smoke 😅 I'm reading the German translation. Mostly I read books in the OG language, but the translator did an amazing job.
Interesting talk about book format. I've heard authors say before that they get more money from hardback sales than from paperback sales, and then even less from ebook sales. I assume this is the same way for the publishers and that must be why the hardcover comes out first, to give it a chance to sell more copies to the people who want it right away. I hadn't heard of this book before but I'm going to try to pick it up!
That does make sense if they have seen that hardbacks bring in more revenue. I do wonder if those numbers are blustered by the order that they release the book in, or if they have looked at data where all editions were released on the same date. Definitely an interesting topic. We hope you enjoy the book!
@@NotReadingForContent I believe the thing is they get a set % per sale and that % is higher for hardbacks. And adding to that the fact that hardbacks are more expensive, I imagine the difference must be substantial. That's in part why it's such a big deal when authors get their first hardback!
Awesome! Can't wait to participate! Thanks Leandra & Dani!
Absolutely!
