This came free on VHS with my first guitar I got age 15 in 1998 a red squire strat starter pack with amp , this is really nostalgic for me , the last time I watched this was about '99 ! thanks for uploading !
This video is a gold mine of information. Before anyone with a phone could upload their two cents, videos were written, produced, and edited by people who were expected to make quality educational content. Wolf Marshall is in a class by himself in this regard.
Wow man, Wolf taught me in '85 at John Waltrips Music. Him along with Tm Sarracino and Frank Surber. Let's not forget Dave Cellentano. Been a long time ( Vick ).
Wolf Marshall now plays Jazz (and still writes guitar instructional stuff like Charlie Christian Guitar licks). He's no one-trick pony or an archetypical Heavy Metal Harry, he's a born musician!
Mitt Romney's guitar teacher. On a serious note, I did like his simple demo of intonating the bridge saddles. On another serious note I'm sure he can play circles around me.
12:37 = Top Tip! Turn down the Bass frequency knob just a bit more than what is recommended here when wacking up the Gain on your amp :-) Edit: Scottish New Wave band The Rezillos put a great version of Glad All Over on their 1978 debut, Can't Stand The Rezillos - Fay Fife's vocals add even more melody and charm to the original! Wolf's version here is great too - even an enthusiastic beginner could play the vocal lines quite quickly on their instrument!
Dude kinda looks like Ricardo Montalbán as Khan. "To the last, I will grapple with thee... from Hell's heart, I stab at thee! For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee!" (Solo break) It could happen!
merloy84 I wonder where he is now? Cool name, though, like Wolf Hoffman. I miss guitar culture from the 80's when what you actually learned to play you earned it and didn't cheat with computers, lol
yep...I remember at a certain period of time him and andy aledort where the kings of transcribing. You could always count on them getting stuff correct.
I got a black Japanese squire new back then. Still have it but it has one bridge humbucker and custom paint. Kahler's.rosewood fretboard. Thanks Mom and Dad!
Great video for beginners. Did me the word of good when I started playing guitar as a kid. But as a beginner, I highly recommend never to touch the intonation! If you don't know what you're doing you can make things worse! 24 years of playing guitar and the intonation is the 1 thing I am always dodgy about touching...
Marcus Jones You should really learn to maintain your guitar on your own. It's kind of silly to pay someone to do something you could do yourself, handling intonation is really not complicated. Like anything else you have to spend time doing it to learn how to do it well.
Thats exactly it. I can do it, it just takes me a little time, I have done it many times before. But time is something I really have little of. So something that someone can do 10 times quicker than me, It is worth me paying them to get the job done so I have spend the time playing instead of spending like, an hour a day over 3 days to get it right. On the guitars I use not so much, I will do the intonation on those, but the ones I need like now, Ill pay someone to do it.
Relating to my previous comment though. Someone who is just starting out and touching the intonation can go horribly wrong. Yes its good to learn to do it yourself. But not as a beginner where they dont even know how to tune a guitar properly yet ;)
Marcus Jones "An hour a day over 3 days"? All you need is 10 minutes after you restring and tune up your guitar. It takes a few minutes, tops. Something tells me you don't know how to do it properly otherwise you'd find it ridiculous to pay someone else to do it.
Ill start by saying the original post I made was meant for beginners who cant even tune a guitar, and start playing with intonation, do you realise how many beginners walk into a guitar tech because they have screwed their intonation up by playing around with it, then ask you to tune it for them etc! I know what im doing dude! A few mins yes with most bridges. Floyed rose trems, setting intonation on one over 3 days, thats how long it was taking to get this old 90's jackson I had perfect, So I took it to a guy I know. Usually I would do it myself these days, but still dread it due to my ocd on it being perfect. Gimme a regular bridge its done in minutes, but floyed rose is a whole different pain in the ass! The time I saved on the last guitar I had someone sort was well worth the money. Though my original post was meant for beginners who cant tune a guitar yet, and playing with intonation wouldnt be good! We all have things we dont like doing but we get it done. and theres always times I pay for someones service cos it would of cost me more in time doing it myself. You know, I could replace the brakes on my car, but I pay someone else to do it because it takes them 3 times less time than me...
The Wolf Marshall guitar method cassette tape was my tuner for 10 years.

I had a VHS copy of this which came with my first guitar(Encore Les Paul copy and amp(10 watt Kustom).
Wow I owned this , talk about memories, I'm still as bad as I was then
Lots of great info packed into this video. Professional level narrating too.
this guy is epic, he transcribed the whole Ozzy Osbourne / Randy Rhoads Tribute album note for note.
Yep, I own a copy of that to this day.
Is it good tho?
@@MiguelOrtiz-ni5vj Nope.
Got this in a starter pack on VHS in '97 with a Peavey Raptor and a dreadful Peavey solid state amp which still works.
a true teacher.

It could happen!
This must be the same Wolf Marshall who would transcribe all those tab books from the 80's?
Thats right.
merloy84 I wonder where he is now? Cool name, though, like Wolf Hoffman. I miss guitar culture from the 80's when what you actually learned to play you earned it and didn't cheat with computers, lol
Foo Rankoo Wolf plays a lot of jazz these days.

1990s too
I like it already
me too...i had this on vhs
He's playing a Squier here. Probably an earlyJapanese made 'Fender' Squier worth a fair few bucks now.
il Solano don't forget that sweet sweet squier amp next to him..
I got a black Japanese squire new back then. Still have it but it has one bridge humbucker and custom paint. Kahler's.rosewood fretboard. Thanks Mom and Dad!
I never dialed it in though. Fret spacing doesn't feel quite right.
So this is where the pedal guy got that voice
Its like he is reading his UCLA textbook to us😎
FUCK!!! I remember this guy.
Rock star hair 👍🏻🎸
WIsh i'd had this VHS as my first instead of Yngwie Malmsteen's REH :P

Hi Wolf! TomS here. Howdy :)
Hi I wanted to be Randy but here I am. Not him unless you are really wasted.
60$ guitar.....poor guy
It's an MIJ Squier. If you want to see another top flight player and his Japanese made Squier, look up 'Equinox It Bites' here on RUclips.
burried video
