Pradyot Debbarma holds closed-door meeting with IPFT leader Sukla Charan Noatia

Days after TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Debbarma threatened to start a hunger strike until death, Debbarma met IPFT leader and cabinet minister Shukla Charan Noatia on Monday night. As per reports, the meeting was held to seek Noatia’s support for the forthcoming fast-unto-death agitation starting from February 28.
Following the meeting which lasted about 35 minutes, Debbarma spoke to the media and said that it was not a meeting but he had only gone to meet the minister’s family members over dinner. Debbarma, also mentioned that everybody is welcome to join him at the fast since it is not a political move but for the interest of the people.
"We are not against any political party. We are only putting forth the demands of the Tiprasa people. We are neither against any political party nor are the demands being made for a political party. So we welcome everyone. We are only placing the demands of the indigenous people to the Government of India and if the government feels the demands are legitimate they will address our problems. If we involve politics in this, we won’t find a solution. So I welcome everybody but one should not come with their party flags because the issue belongs to a community, not a political party," Debbarma added.
