Wonderful Jesus! I am wondering does anyone have a recording of The Revival Temple Mass Choir singing "The Storm is over?" I think that is one of the songs that I remember most that was recorded...if so PLEASE post it. God bless
I thank you for this trip down memory lane for me. I and my brothers were teen members of the Revival Temple Mass Choir and the Jeff Banks Choral Ensemble and Bishop Jeff Banks was my pastor and Godfather. I do miss my Mass choir family as well as my own family members who have gone on. Johnny Shipley was the best. He could cause the roof to come off when he stepped up to the mic. So many memories.
Anther bit of info, B-4 John left PTL he was singing at Billy Graham He went out to sing and they had a rule that u had to stayed to the script. He says that while he was standing on the stage lookin at his self in the monitor he started thinkin back over his life (he had some bad times when he played with Cameo) when he thought about what he had been thru he started singing "I need thee" and tore the place up. He said the ran out to try to stop him but it was too late the place was toe up
Some might not know this but the guy that wrote this David Allen was the one that pretty much introduced John Kee into the black gospel arena. When he started he was singing for Jim and Tammy Faye on P.T.L. Which was the frontrunner for T.B.N.
Will never be another Johnny Shipley, He will made you stand to your feet when sang.
