OK I'm thinking of buying my first EV. This seems super efficient and could be easy to live with. Anyone know long will EVs have severe depreciation? I hope it is just a temporary stage as prices sink down to realistic levels
The depreciation on EVs is extremely sensitive to the market that you're in. In Spain and many other markets (like France, the Netherlands and Norway) EVs a "suffering" far less depreciation than ICEs.
@@gregb1599 You don't state where you are, or what $ you're talking about, but in no way is $1800 "overpriced". And I'd expect that there are plenty of reasons why dealers may not be interested in buying in 1 y.o. EV6. The reason the Mach e is selling at $55k is because they're utter rubbish, and about as desirable as a fart in. a space suit.
@@gregb1599 Still no mention of which dollar you're talking about. The difference with the factory one is that it is fully covered by the factory warranty, isn't it? Having looked for towbars recently, I'd love to know which company offers towbars at that sort of price. Because even a towbar for a huge selling Renault Clio in the world's biggest market (mainland EU) was going to cost me in the region of €900 (which works out at NZ$1636). I just think that your expectations are based on costs that simply no longer apply, because it is a very long time since a standard towbar cost anything like the money you seem to expect,.
@@gregb1599 FFS, I had already asked for clarification about the currency and, ICYMI, the internet is international. "As for a factory towbar, it's illegal here to say you must fit a factory towbar to keep the warranty! " But the factory towbar would have the factory warranty, wouldn't it, you F**knuckle. It's also worth pointing out that NZ copied EU law on both the points that you raise, but they are not universal laws. BTW, I DID point out that used EV prices are hugely dependent on the market you are in. Considering that the historic complaint about EVs has been that they were overpriced, WTF is your complaint? That you got caught paying top $ for a product that the entire world was aware that EV prices were going to drop? Or are you pi**ed off that a 1 y.o. car is worth 50% of its original price? Since when was that "news"? This has been the situation in many markets for most of my life! I've got no problem with international feeds, they give me a more rounded view of what is happening in the world. It's hardly my fault that you couldn't be bothered to make any clarification. And if you expect a Kiwi channel to make enough money just off NZ views, then you've giot a very, very odd idea of how YT works. Similarly, if the only thing that you're interested in is NZ news and info., I'd suggest that you stick to your own parochial news service, The rest of us could give a sh*t for your parochialism. Oh. And finally, if you were so disgusted at the price of your factory fit towbar, WTF didn't you get an aftermarket one for your claimed "$800"? Your entire argument has been full of BS from the beginning, and I was trying to be civil about explaining how the economics of vehicles work. It's hardly my problem that you don't know, and appear just to be happy to rant. Grow up.
I always find it a bit annoying that the 0-100kph is trotted out as if it has some bearing on what to look for in a car. I expect that it is inconsequential to about 98% of the car buying public when purchasing a car, EV or otherwise.
@@Mububban23 Fair point. I guess for an EV it's a bit of a moot point, as they're not typically sluggish so should be more than capable for both of those things. I can see it being relevant to the real speed merchant EVs, but for something that's really targeted for the family segment, not so much.
So it looks like you need to get the larger battery to achieve in the real world the claimed range of the smaller battery especially in winter and highway use. Also claimed ranges are 100% down to 0% which if course is not realistic use.

The new project is designed to “reduce import reliance” while securing Hyundai a stable supply chain as the industry shifts to electric.
Although most LFP battery cathode materials are made by adding lithium to precursor materials such as phosphate and iron sulfate, Hyundai and Kia are developing a more advanced process.
@@gregb1599why trade such a nice car on a RAV4 after such a short time? Charging problems?
Similarly, if the only thing that you're interested in is NZ news and info., I'd suggest that you stick to your own parochial news service,
The rest of us could give a sh*t for your parochialism.
Grow up.
What a great looking box on wheels . All straight lines. 😂
The perfect storm trooper car.
It would be perfect if it was charging in less than 25min for the 10-80%. that makes a lot of difference in roadtrip
to turn off the beeps press the right silver button for 4 seconds.
It's already in there.
I have one coming in 3 weeks. In sunset orange. Sorry Kiwi's, I think it is a UK only colour.
I always find it a bit annoying that the 0-100kph is trotted out as if it has some bearing on what to look for in a car. I expect that it is inconsequential to about 98% of the car buying public when purchasing a car, EV or otherwise.
It can give some rough idea of how well it will cope with freeway on ramps and overtaking etc so it’s not totally irrelevant
@@Mububban23 Fair point. I guess for an EV it's a bit of a moot point, as they're not typically sluggish so should be more than capable for both of those things. I can see it being relevant to the real speed merchant EVs, but for something that's really targeted for the family segment, not so much.
Nice !
Nice ev but head space front and rear is small... Rest good. Waiting for Mahindra be 05 80 kWh AWD and this.
Like the car... test the lights at night please on rural roads. previous models have weak headlights.
I think if you hold one of the paddles on max regen it will stop you.
Glad it's LFP battery. Heat pump please!!
Kia must have had the design inspiration from Star Wars. It looks like the storm troopers. 😂
Will you be able to use a #TeslaSuperCharger
So it looks like you need to get the larger battery to achieve in the real world the claimed range of the smaller battery especially in winter and highway use. Also claimed ranges are 100% down to 0% which if course is not realistic use.
I wish the Australasian version included the space for a spare wheel. #flattyreanxiety
Yeah. This is going to be expensive in both Aus and especially NZ.
Gav, many teabags are plastic pouches. Learned this because there was a soil study years back in the Rangipo Desert. They put their experiments inside teabags. Leaf tea plus teapot is way cooler, too.
This is changing in the UK with many more Teabags home compostable. We have municipal composting where I live however.
After the new KIA logo, everything about them is different
Standard : over USD 35,000~
Long range: over USD 40,000~
Road User changes in NZ for EVs are horrific
All good until you said it will not come to a full stop on regen so you have to apply the brake in the end. That’s a FIRM NO from me.
Without a doubt, a very disappointing development indeed. I had watched a different review that said you could completely one pedal drive. She gave an example of her in traffic and she didn’t need to push the brake. She did have the adaptive cruise engaged, so who knows 🤷♂️
EV3's one pedal driving can come to a complete stop.
One pedal driving 3.0 on Auto will do a complete stop!
Unfortunately service cost on EVs still are unexplained high.
complaining about black color while wearing black haha.. Kidding. Agreed on color complain .. Orange Yellow would look so dope
I like it, I just think it'll be constrained in maybe 18 months as the rest of the world used LiPho batteries instead of NMC and they crippled the charger to be too slow. As batteries evolve, no one will want a car that charges in 30+ min in 2 years.
Nice car!! Too bad most kiwis won't be able to afford one... An ev with 600km range, should be able to drive from Wellington - Taupo with no troubles. Good thing about Toyota is they have in-house servicing at their dealerships.
75k nzd for base trim
👍👍👍👍👍
MG4 or this ?
MG4 is more spartan, but it's RWD which I much prefer. Kia has a bigger boot, more bells and whistles. I think the kia will be much more expensive so could wind up being a financial decision.
money!
@@mondotv4216 Still like the looks of the MG4 prefer the MG4 to this.
Not the same segment?
@@Mububban23 pretty much the same size
Should have made coffee instead ha ha !
What an EV pro review, it is dead in the water like so many others. But just ignore the hidden costs and you’ll be happy wasting your $$.
I love your videos but the permanent "ads" for driving electric are annoying. I feel like your viewers are already sold. Not sure why that is necessary.
I am afraid that the charging performance is very poor - that will kill it.
They alredy did what you are complaining about!
You can shut the system off by just pressing a button!
