Björk said in an interview “I wear masks because it’s a way to hide and reveal. With masks I feel protected, but it also helps me kinda be more expressive in the ways I know I can be generous to people that I don't know and give certain things to my close ones”. So I think that maybe she's using a mask during the performances to reveal that which is really emotional underneath, especially in the context of her last two albums, "Vulnicura" and "Utopia", which are brutally honest and share herself in an extreme way. Somehow, though, I don't like not being able to see Björk’s wonderful facial expressions and the nuance of her emotions.
I feel this exact same way. The masks subtract just as much as they add. Of course having Björk still working and evolving as an artist is a serious treat, but we lose a seriously huge human factor with the masks, part of her hallmark is how animated she can be when performing. And we're losing that in this era now unfortunately.
Sorry I am not a fan of Masked Bjork. Her music has become less and less relatable once she started wearing the masks. Bjork in all her weirdness used to produce universal music that anyone could relate to even my 70yo Korean deeply Religious Mother loves her old stuff.
Meh. I like Bjork's earlier works, when she had something appart from costumes and non-technical singing in her videos. I don't know. "Army of me" or "All is full of love" seem two heads above what she's doing now.
maybe that's because I'm not native or by my 21 years I grew too shallow-hearted, but my impression was all the songs just blended into something indiscernible. I'll give it another shot and try to listen to it again. But so you knew the calowness of my tastes, by my 21 year I suddenly realised how cool Avril Lavigne is, and were I you I wouldn't expect much).
It's okay to not like every work by an Artist. Feel free to listen and relate to what music you enjoy the most. Also, this comment is pretty old I see and I wonder if in this arch of time you eventually related to her newest work too. I think it's still pretty good, with a good mixture of feelings, sensations and sounds.

you didnt like her last album? it was great, mixing so many different elements and emotion
Vulnicura was up there with some of her greatest work ever.
Not only that, but Utopia is easily as good as Post or Medulla.
