    Ive adapted this technique without having fully understand the science behind it- This was reassuring.
    I am now implementing this way of thinking towards everything. Ive noticed it helps thinking of this more holistically.
    Another concept ive come across is "system thinking." How does this differ from mind mapping? Have you ever used "system thinking" in your own life? If so, i would love to hear your take on that. Thanks

    • @The_Principles
      @The_Principles  4 месяца назад +3

      i've used mindmaps to help me designed large and complex systems and processes for businesses, and also the database driven software systems I have built for myself and others.. I have not looked into system thinking as a skill to develop but my take would be that the mindmaps are a tool that allows me to handle a complete view both macro and micro of simple or incredibly complex projects, issues, systems whilst allowing me to see relationships and links and potential new relationships and links that I csimple cannot see using more traditional methods of note making and note taking. as such they would be ideal as a complement and tool to use for system thinking. I consider it to be the best tool/skill I have ever had at my disposal.

    Hi Adrian,
    I am very left-brained. Years ago I was very proud that I just functioned off logic, and would almost look down on someone that wasn't as logical. What a complete idiot I was 😞
    Somehow I got to learn that a balanced brain is way better (it seems so obvious now), and got into a few things to try and develop my right side, including a bit of drawing and some Sacred Geometry stuff.
    I think the mind maps will help a lot, especially the ways you've described using it. I will for sure try and make mind mapping a habit.
    Thank you so much again. The content in this channel, and the way you deliver it, never ceases to amaze me.

    Would love more info on mind mapping. I have to write things down To remember them. I am a visual learner so I think it helps to remember seeing myself write it down plus the benefits of muscle memory. I have kept a hand written daily journal for the past 50 years. I have notebooks full. Sometimes I’m tempted to throw it all away but I can’t bring myself to quite do that. I also keep a small notebook where I write downQuestions to God and the answers he gives me. Sometimes I just sit down and write in that notebook the first thought that comes to me and then the next and the next. They turn out to be a beautiful letters from my heavenly father.

    • @The_Principles
      @The_Principles  3 года назад

      I once threw out a lot of my mindmaps and have regretted it since. Might be good to keep your journals.
      I also have my notebook of questions where I wait for the answers - i have not been writing down the answers, something I will now have a think about doing based on what you have said.
      I am with you. Visual works best for me. Any information books / videos by Tony Buzan are great for more on mindmapping. you can find pdfs online of his books. If you message me via fortheloveoftruth.co.uk/contact-us/ I can point them out to you.

    The powers-to-be, did everything opposite. We were thought linear, but we should think holistic, we should use both sides of the brain, not just left. In Maths, we are thought: t1 (time), d1,d2,d3,dx (distance, what IF its, opposite? t1,t2,t3 (3 time lines), d1 (one distance)?

    This is a great video about mind mapping. I've been doing it for years although I should be a little more consistent with it. I like what you said about only using one word if you can instead of phrases. I tend to put more phrases down. Drawings really do help with remembering things. I put down a lot of drawings. I did have a thought during your video when you were talking about using a mind map for a travel log. It got me thinking about journaling. I'm a big fan of journals. Not so much of writing down my thoughts but what I do as well as my family for that day. It ends up being a sort of track record of what happened to us that day, good and bad. Could one mind map your day and pass that on to their posterity where they would consider it valuable? I might have to try it and see what I think but I'm curious of your thoughts about it. Keep making good videos that has good value! These are great!

The archive mindmaps are there for my daughters and future generations to read, enjoy, and learn from should they choose to now, and in the future. wether they will is up to them. there is a lot of information in there and they know how to inner stand my maps and comprehend the infromation.

    • @The_Principles

      Thank you.
      Mind maps are a reflection of the brains natural internal process of information gathering, storage, thinking and retrieval and utilise both left and right brain. Traditional note making and note taking etc largely force one side of the brain to be dominant and shut down ones real ability and potential. Imagine being told you have to run but must only use one arm and one leg, with the other tied to the one you can use....

    • @The_Principles
      @The_Principles  Год назад +1

      Any or all books by tony buzan are excellent. bith paper and digital have their place. i love the paper ones because I have to giver careful consideration to each branch and word image. i also have better recall from the hand drawn maps. some interesting things happen between hand eye and paper. the digital maps are excellent because they can grow large - through I use rolls of lining paper for very big hand drawn maps, and it is simple to move branches about, edit them, create new maps from branch and hyperlink them. so I am a fan of both styles and use them both all the time.

      can you clarify - do you mean how you organise the drawing of them or how you store them? in any instance if it was me I would draw a mindmap with the question in the centre and a bunch of blank arms and then fill them in with the ideas as they come to me. then I can give a weighted average to each once complete to decide what the most appropriate once for me will be in my own circumstance.

    Can mind maps help with addiction. I've been an addict for a few years. The substances fluctuate. It used to be kratom which was the safest but I don't want any habits. I always put in my diary to try and quit but seem to fail all the time. I quit 10 days the other month and I could have stayed off shit but I thought cos I went that long I'd have some control. Soon as I went to get some shit I was back to square one. I tried to quit again last week and anded up lay in the dark with no TV on or phone just in dark depressed and low as fuck. Was writing again in my diary today and wrote my main goal to keep me off shit. It was to put my simcards in a time locked safe cos I can't buy shit then. But then I remembered this video and instead of the usual line by line shit, I branched off reasons why I want to stop, how it benefits me, the damage its doing etc. Can it have any impact on that at all or is it really focused on tasks or planning?

    • @The_Principles
      @The_Principles  4 года назад

      As a tool to focus your mind on the key points and the whole picture at the same time and keep you from getting distracted I would say they are ideal. Visualise you’re life addiction free as clearly as you can. The mind maps can help there too. Keep making that picture so clear and vibrant until it becomes your reality. @@The_Principles I guess my brain just sees it as disorganised and sooo much information spreading out on the page. I use vision boards and journaling more than mapping. Maybe I am more used to these forms of mind work. I am interested in learning a bit more about mind mapping though.

    • @The_Principles
      @The_Principles  4 года назад +2

      @@majellamcdonald5919 I can see that, maps are very personal to the creator so it’s a visual presentation of how the information is hooked up and associated. If the map I draw is cluttered and confusing it also is a good indication to me that the initial information "dump" or gathering was also confusing and erratic so the map is giving me more info that just a page of clean writing or typing that may look well but conveys less meaning and typically carries less information.
      Isn't a vision board a form of a mind map - a visual representation of things? You could draw your vision board and that would be a mind map. You do capture a lot of information in a mindmap. This video you watched was based on 2 mindmaps and i was talking for almost 30 minutes based on just 2 pages of A4 paper. So you can capture and convey a lot of information as needed, or just a little. Perhaps you could try to journal with a map instead of writing it our longhand if that is what you do?
      Have fun with it and stay curious. :-) , we learn by trial and error and the more you create the more you will get from it.
