    This or flagship/flagship pro to compliment my quiver of a Rome agent pro and a mind expander? Preferably the one that may feel more carving oriented, but super stable at speed, and longer side cut (open to other options!)

    I’ve got 100+ days on my 2023 ultracraft 160. I’m 230lbs and like to ride chutes and drops so I prefer the fast sintered base to get to those big traverses across the cirque and carrying speed through the chunder with minimal leg fatigue. (Max dampness you’d say?) lol sounds like the hovercraft 2.0 may be a little more playful with moderate dampness. When considering also the new Ultralight Hovercraft 2.0, which would be most damp? Thanks for the awesome review!! Hope you get some more days on summit soon!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Glad it works for you. If you like the Ultracraft 2023 you will probably like the Ultra 2024 too. The regulars are softer and better in most uneven terrain but you might not like that softer flex, slower base and less pop compared to what you are used to. Tough call.

    I am torn between the Cardiff Powgoda or the Hover 2.0 for pow ! Wich one will have the best float and will be better for chop and bad snow ?
    The white base of the Jones is little turn off !
    Thanks

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  11 месяцев назад +1

      Hover 2.0 will have the best float but the Powgoda will be the easiest to turn in tight spots. The Powgoda isn't bad in pow though at all. Both are very damp but the nod goes to the Hovercraft. So It really comes down to what kind of turns you make in pow. If you want turny/slashy go Powgoda. If you like more high speed turns go Hovercraft.

    Hello the good ride team; just find your channel and it is really helpful!
    One quick question, does this board works well with Burton step on?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  7 месяцев назад

      Thanks! Yes it works with the Hovercraft and any traditional insert board. The only issue is you can't adjust your stance width like you can with other full sized discs. Burton's Re:Flex discs don't slide tip to tail like most do so you can only adjust your stance by 20mm per foot which is the distance of the Hovercraft's inserts.

    Great review. I’m 6’2 205lbs 12US boots so kind of boarderline of 160 size. Should I embrace it and go big with 164 or will 160 give decent enough float in pow so I’d gain bit more playfulness outside deeps ? I’m usually downsizing my boards a bit like GNU RC C3 158W resort/park
    Did Davey eventually got to test Hovy the Second in pow to give his thoughts ? 🙂

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks! Davey would have preferred the 164 if he was going to own one. It was just a beter all around fit but he weighs a good bit more than you. Coming off the 158w RC C3 I think you might prefer the 160 for your specs over the 164. I would only do 164 if you plan to primarily ride it in super deep snow and bomb/carve up perfect groomers or just want a lot of board with the second ride in your quiver.

    • @MichalGolata
      @MichalGolata 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@thegoodridesnow thanks for reply. RC 158W works for me only cause I’m using it in park quiet a lot but if I’m being honest I’m missing length therefore stability everywhere outside. That being said I also think 160 Craft will be better choice as I’m still in its weight range and it’ll be 2nd board in quiver so need to be bit more versatile outside powder runs too. Im hoping it will still float well. And no I’m not in deeps primarily
      Many thanks 👊

    I had the 1.0 Hovercraft. Super stiff. Could bomb top to bottom blues without making a single turn Ha! In uneven snow, it was too much though, painful really. Heavy AF too. Guess that’s why there's the Ultra.

    I own a Stratos 162 2022 and I am considering getting the H2.0 156. I’m 5.10, 200 pounds (going down) and a size 9 US. I’d like to keep my stratos as an all arounder and get a slightly shorter pow board. Do you consider the boards and riding experiences different enough so that it would be worth buying the h2 and would you suggest a different size based on my measurements? Thank you!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  9 месяцев назад

      Two very different boards so this would be a good addition to the quiver. You are in between size 160 and 156. If you could turn the 162 Stratos no problem then the 160 should be doable but a little slow for size 9's. Its good for your weight. The 156 will be great for your boots but not as ideal for your weight. Unlike the Stratos it can handle a heavier rider so your call. More speed and float 160. More control and more turny 156. If you want to get into it more and get some other suggestions hit me up here. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Sorry for late comment and question, but considering going from my 159 ORCA to this in a 160, so I'd love to know how it may compare? I believe the ORCA might be a little stiffer, but I"m super intrigued and would like to try this board. Thank you and love your channel. Cheers!!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  6 месяцев назад

      No worries! I would say that the 164 Hovercraft is more comparable to the 159 Orca but it's kind of in between sizes. These boards accomplish the same thing but do it very differently. Orca is very loose between the feet and has a slow base but has more grip. The Hovy can hold a pretty good edge though, feels a lot more stable and has a much faster base. Both float well in pow but I'd give the nod to the Hovy. I would need more info about you to properly help though. hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Thanks for the video. I live in Japan and an looking for a dedicated powder board, so I'm focusing mainly on flotation. I already have a Solution for all-round conditions. Do you think the Hover 2.0 will float just as well as the Storm Chaser (or Mind Expander) in the deepest pow days? My riding style is about charging, big high-speed turns in bowls (as opposed to tree-runs, etc).

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  11 месяцев назад +2

      No problem. So I think the Hovercraft will work very well for you. Close in float to the Storm Chaser but much more damp and way less bucky if conditions aren't perfect. Better than the new Mind Expander with camber for sure and more suitable to your riding style. The Mind Expander is more turny/slashy vs. the Hover 2.0.

  • @connunez13

    How would this compare to the K2 excavator?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  10 месяцев назад +1

      Pretty similar but the main differentiator is the flex and the stance location. With the Hovercraft 2.0 its a little softer than the Excavator and rides more set back. It isn't as turny though and favors a straight line a little more but it also has a faster base and better edge hold. The Excavator rides a little more centered on board and favors more of an across the groomer to circle carve kind of ride. I like the pop you get out of the Excavator a little more as well. So if you could help me out, I’m deciding between the Stratos 164W 2024 model and the Craft 2.0 164 I’m 5 11 230 boot size 11.5. I have the aviator 2.0 in 159W and I ride Sierra cement and south cascades snow. I know I went for the bare minimum for my height and weight on the aviator so now I want an easier POW experience. So Wet and heavy lol I want a board that floats easier but don’t want to sacrifice too much which board would you recommend for a Pow board? Will the stratos feel similar to my aviator or will the stratos be wayy better is deeper heavier snow. I also love riding the steep steeps in Kirkwood so if that’s enough info lmk I’d appreciate it!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  11 месяцев назад

      Two very different boards. Stratos will be easier in pow but much more chattery than the Aviator 2.0. Especially for your weight if you plan to size down for your weight and to a lesser extent your boot size. I think you are fine with the 159w for your height but that is least important. Of the two I'd go Hovercraft 160 for powder for where you ride but not sure that's the best fit. James, what do you make of both of you guys preferring this board one size fully below your weight recommendation? Especially Davey, can't figure out why he'd prefer the 160. Would you still recommend following the size chart if powder is the primary focus?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  10 месяцев назад

      So sizing by weight should almost always be second to boot size. For me the 156 is much better for my boot size and I'm only 5lbs below the pretty conservative suggested weight range. The 160 was too hard to turn for me so I can confidently say this isn't my correct size. The 156 felt great for my weight too.
      For Davey, he is almost always over the suggested weight range so that's just a problem being 230-250lbs. The 164 would be the size he would own. The 160 worked for him but felt a little small. I think He said that somewhere. He rarely gets a demo his size because most brands don't make them in demo so he has gotten used to riding smaller boards.
      Bottom line. It isn't easy to get a demo's for bigger or smaller riders.

    Hi! I got the 152. I’m 170, sz 9, I ride 21” width max. I’m short, 5’6”. I stood on the 156 and it was massive! Did I get the wrong size? I feel like I’m always on size lower than most of the boards you ride. Thoughts on this board vs the orca for big mountain steep/deep pow?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  9 месяцев назад

      Same family but 3rd cousins. Mainly because of the sidecut and camber profile. Orca has a very tight/turny sidecut radius with a rocker dominant ride. The Hovercraft has a long/straight liner sidecut with camber from the tail to past the front inserts going to spoon nose. Two very different rides. Both float really well in pow, both grip well, turn well on groomers but just in very different ways. The Hovercraft does have a much faster base though. So depends on the kind of rider you are.
