Got to see them in London on 14th June and will be at the penultimate concert of the European leg of their tour back in London on 1st July. Before seeing them live, I knew they were petite, but not just how small they all are, and very beautiful ! Amazing energy on stage, and we got to see the sound check before the show as well, an unexpected bonus. Lovebites are one of my all time favourite bands. 🐺
This was in Tokyo, the first song of the first comeback concert with new bassist Fami, after two years of absence from the stage. No one was pregnant here. Miyako, the dark-haired guitarist and pianist, was four months pregnant in one of the last concerts two years before that was also recorded; you saw Set The World On Fire from that show. I just was on a Lovebites concert at more or less the other end of Germany from me, and the atmosphere was great, with a very loud and active audience that partly sang the lyrics. (The band has remarked how loud we were, LOL.) Met the ladies briefly and had a selfie taken with them. Got Covid somewhere during the trip and am now laid up at home. 'Twas worth it.
During Lovebites live shows, their vibe always even crawls through the internet. You stare at them in awe, like mesmerized, like in disbelief, on the computer display. Imagine the full amout of vibe, if you actually are _in the crowd_ . Must be mind-blowing. I never had that privilege myself, I only try to imagine.
I was in Paris show, incredible show. Miyako was caufing and tired but she played perfection as always. Asami was nuts. Very crazy concert. I still had star in my eyes. I was in front row and Asami gove me a check. LOVEBITES was on fire 🔥🔥 on the bassement of the small venue ( 500 peoples) no air conditionned. It was hot as hell. But a great show. I ❤them 🇯🇵🥁🎹🎸🎙️🇨🇵❤️🔥💪
Opening song at the 2023 Knockin' At Heaven's Gate concerts. Fami's live debut on bass. Asami yells "We Are Back" to start. First performance in about 2 years , due to lockdown and the search for a new bassist. Haruna IS 4'9", they are all smaller in stature. Asami 4'10", Midori(body builder lady) 4'11", Miyako and Fami 5'2". Original bassist Miho 5'1". Song is an old one, from the 2017 first album, Awakening From Abyss. It as written by Miho, Mao co wrote the music with her. 2nd track on the record , after the instrumental intro piece "Awakening" which has been played as the intro in concerts past. "Awakening" was written by Miyako, then known as Mi-Ya.

I hope this is taken as intended. I was in high school when thrash and speed metal came into its heyday and not in my wildest dreams back then would I ever have seen all female thrash band. During high school I couldn't name one girl in school who listened to let alone wanted to play this kind of music. Now there's more killer all female metal than there are male bands. Not to mention how many have female lead singers. Hmmm, I just had a realization. Why were all these guys trying to hit all those crazy high notes back in the day when they could have just gotten a woman to do it for them? Ego is why.
I loved this kind of music in high school! All my female friends and I were pretty much "metal heads" but I was the black sheep who also listened to Rap LOL!
Legend has it that Fami's smile powered the entire venue, lights, amps, everything. And the rare occasions when she's not smiling, the dynamo behind the kit, Haruna, takes over. LOVEBITES - The Hammer Of Wrath lyrics:
What's the worst way to die?
Burning to death, or drowning?
Everyone laughs in derision
There's no hope at all
Why is the world rotting away
Howling in pain, they slowly die
All of the sorrow is murderous
The insanity
(Burn up)
They're calling me
(Burn up)
It's do or die
(Burn up)
Get ready for hell
(Bring down justice to the wicked)
Don't look away from the mistakes
Open your eyes, and see the truth
When lightning cracks the blackened sky
Listen to the screams of distress
It's like a bad dream but it's not
No way to get out, a living nightmare
Bring down the Hammer of Wrath
Who will be the next to burn?
God only knows the victim
Everyone knows they are innocent
All the hope is gone
In despair they pass away
There was no hope to begin with
Even the angels are giving up
Looking down on us
Will this night ever break dawn
