I definitely needed this. As a doll customizer myself I feel like I get stuck or that my dolls aren't good enough because I haven't sold one to anyone other than my grandpa. I mean I still have chimera from Dollightful's tropical collab in 2019. It gets really discouraging for me a lot
I teach any kids that I get, no matter what it is, art, math, music, ANYTHING to say, 'I'm in process' or 'I'm learning' instead of 'I'm not good enough.' It's good to have this attitude and can be just what you need sometimes to keep going, even if you're an adult.
For us it's 5 years of doll customizing and almost 4 years on YT! And it's one of the best things that happened to me, including the doll community! I like the retro vibe of the old doll but the new one is sooo pretty! My favourite part is the resin ornament and the shoes!

Illustrator's tip: if you draw the eyes one step at a time and mirror it in the other one at the same time, it makes it easier, for example: you draw the eye shape in one side and then immediately do that in the other side, and keep alternating like that It really helps me, so I thought I'd share!

this doll reminds me A LOT of the kpop girl group AESPA's concept!! especially with the chest ornament.. its always exciting to see people redo older projects and see all at once the improvements!! i hope ur proud of both dolls

The old doll had a softer looking face but both are gorgeous. The hair, outfit and accessories have clearly been taken to another level. It's been about 6 years since I made my first doll and I've only made about 20 so far.
this is inspiration and motivation to everyone who feels like they aren't good enough when just starting a project. we all start somewhere and continue to improve with practice. and this goes for any project, not just doll customization. i know i still have projects i have been putting off because i feel like i won't do a good job on, but this helps me to get out of my head and go for it. i have doll clothes projects to do still, but i also want to finish my novel and try my hand at sculpting a cat mask in doll size. the new version is breathtaking but the old one has it's unique charm too. thank you for sharing both with us. i look forward to other visits to the past to see the growth now as well as new projects in the future.

Idk if it makes sense but I feel like the new doll doesn’t just show your improvement in the art but also the improvement in your self confidence when it comes to your art. In the first doll you stuck pretty closely to the mold of the doll and played it safe with the colors and hair, now you are willing to experiment a lot more and aren’t afraid to break the mold! You not only strive to improve artistically but you are also a lot more confident in your abilities and yourself which I think is even more amazing!! I’ve been following you for a while now and I think seeing you grow and show us more of yourself, your goofy and colorful nature has been my favorite thing and ofc thats reflected in your art! I don’t know you personally but I’m so proud of you!!
I love how you can make monster high dolls not look like monster high dolls. The face was so gorgeous omg! It's so inspirational and I don't even customize dolls. I honestly love your style so so much
So wonderful to see your progression, and I can't wait to see all the dolls that are yet to come! The super long hair worked great with the tall shoes! A few tips: -You can remove hot glue in one piece easily by putting rubbing alcohol on it -- higher percentages work better, but 70% still works very well -As you saw, rubbing alcohol also breaks down sharpie, and if it needs to set longer, use hand sanitizer -If your clear resin tends to look a bit yellow, add a drop or two of purple alcohol ink to counteract it and get "cleaner" prints

I have been customizing dolls for nearly two years but I do a lot of other crafting as well so I don't feel like I have really been doing it for long. I love the silver on the face and the resin chest piece the most but I also like the eyes and the outfit

I've only painted a couple graphic eyeliner styles so far and I definitely struggled, but I think it gets a little easier every time. You're definitely my inspiration to keep trying! Your graphic liner looks are always so bright and fun!
I definitely think you improved! Your colors are a bit richer and more vibrant, but you also include more contrast so those vibrant colors aren't overwhelming.

Hi I customize American girl dolls and there is a way to get permanent marker off of vinyl. You have to get some acne cream and make sure it has at least 10% benzoyl peroxide then apply that to the stained area and wrap it in clear plastic wrap so it won’t dry out. Then put the doll in the sun or a UV light. If you don’t want the other parts of the doll to be sun bleached then cover them up with a blanket and leave the wrapped part exposed. It will take a couple of days of doing the same thing but it will remove the stain.

I got hooked on BJD in 2010, I love them but sooo expensive. I saw you and several others here on RUclips customizing the monster high and fell in love. I’m going to say about 5 years for these types of dolls and I still love it ❤️
Next time to pop that hot glue off the plastic, putting the doll in the freezer for a little while will probably help you peel it off in one thick piece! Iirc it helps make the glue more solid/brittle so you can more easily pull it up off the plastic. Might be a little easier than using hot water :D

You did a beautiful job both times! An easier way to remove hot glue is to saturate the glue in rubbing alcohol. It should peel right off.
