Luka talking about bringing in more pieces. We've already got a couple of pieces to look forward to.
First off, there's Dereck Lively. His game is only going to get better. I expect he'll actually have a few post moves to be able to compliment the nice touch he does have right around the rim. Would be amazing if he could get like a solid 7 foot hook/push shot to utilize in that short roll. Then maybe for Year 3 he's got a strong 10-15 jumpshot and is starting to test his 3 point range.
I'm hoping that Dallas can finally trade THJ for whatever. At this point, I don't care. Let's just get that 14-18 million off the books and give it to DJJ. I guess if I had a choice, get me a big Stretch 4. Someone who could play some center in case Lively or Gafford were banged up. Maybe like a Dollar General Maxi...if he exists. Just someone to have in case Maxi is missing another 40 games. I think that's the Mavs only hole they have.
Then you've got some serious minutes for Hardy who is starting to look like that 2nd ball handler whenever Luka or Kai is resting. He's getting Lively several oops during his meaningful playoff minutes. He can still shoot it better but he's making enough shots. So if he takes another step next year in Year 3 he could be a legit 6th Man of the Year type of player that THJ was supposed to be.
There's O-Max. Has the tools to become the next PJ and shown flashes of why he was a 1st round pick. If he actually does live up to his potential starting next year, the Mavs will have an INSANE defense that extends well into the 2nd unit. There's also Lawson who came out of nowhere and turned some heads...kinda reminds me of a Josh Green 2.0.
Seriously, the bench would have Lively (or Gafford), Maxi, O-Max, Josh Green and Hardy. That's a pretty solid defensive unit that can also score. And you still have Exum if you wanna trade Hardy's offense for some more defense.
