Thanks! You can always start with lamb chops to see if you like them before doing a whole leg of lamb. Here's our recipe: www.madbackyard.com/how-to-smoke-lamb-chops/
This is awesome! I've done a bunch of lamb leg but always pulled it and made sliders and Cole slaw. This looks like a great "Christmas ham" alternative for those of us who don't eat pork! Saving this and gonna try it in a couple weeks as my wife just bought a 4.5lb from Sam's the other day! Thanks for this awesome video Man!🔥
Great video, I have done lamb in my Pitt Boss a couple of times, but you can never watch too many videos to get new ideas. I love your idea about the red wine jus. Think I will give that a go tonight. My lamb comes from Costco to, I paid $A15 per kilo, so after converting $US5 per pound to kilos and allowing for dollar conversion, which sucks terribly for me at the moment, it worked out a little cheaper here. Which it damn well should since the cute little lamb probably grew less than 100 miles from my home.
Thank you! Yeah I love that red wine jus on lamb. Make sure to check out our smoked rack of lamb video too! I actually prefer lamb chops to leg of lamb myself. Funny that you guys get your lamb at Costco down there too!
@madbackyard You can pretty much by lamb in every grocery store here. Costco may be a little cheaper, I pretty much keep my Costco membership just for the baby back ribs. Far better selection there. Lamb here is almost always served with Rosemary in some manner. Some Aussies like mint sauce or jelly with it, which I personally do not like.
Haha, nice. You can keep at 270 the whole time if you want. I like to crank the heat a little at the end to get a nicer color on the exterior and render some of the fat a little better.
Man this looks so good, I haven’t had lamb in ages but I may just have to give this a try! I see that you use Bear Mountain a lot for your cooks but have you tried any charcoal pellets yet? I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on how they stack up.
I haven’t because I’ve read they mostly burn clean and are best for efficient heat but with little to no smoke flavor. I may give them a try this summer though. Thanks for watching!
I just subscribed because of this recipe and looking forward to learn more. About the charcoal pellets, I mixed them with other pellets at a 70/30 ratio with 30% being the charcoal ones.
I’ve never had lamb at all. Never really wanted to try it, but that looks good enough to try.

Woohoo! First to the party! This is a definite try this spring. But why jack up the temp for last bit? Can it not just keep going at 270? Thanks. 🇨🇦👍🏼

I love lamb roasted on my Traeger. I’ve converted many family members who thought they hated lamb.
Thanks for the recipe. BEAR DOWN
