Keep in mind we’re also down our best pass rusher from last year (Ebukham), so that doesn’t help, but I feel like Bradley’s scheme almost never blitzes and just tries to win with 4 against 5 every play, which is just not going to happen unless you have 2-3 ELITE pieces who can consistently beat 1 on 1’s. I’d say we have one of those (Buc) but he just gets double teamed. I think Ebu is pretty good at it, but he was out for the season. I think once Latu puts on some more weight he’ll be really good at it as long as his bull rush can improve. There are very few lines in the NFL that can rush 4 90% of plays and win. That’s like, Steelers, and I’d say that’s about it. Every other great pass rush has schemes around it to make it that way (Denver, Minnesota, Lions, etc). A good d coordinator would be scheming ways for Latu to get one on one vs a TE (who he’s shown he can easily beat), or free up d Buc, or allow Kenny Moore to blitz (one of the best blitzing slots in the league). And Bradley has refused to for 3 seasons now. It’s not okay

Hey says they fine players and deduct playing time from players for being late to team things (meetings, physical therapy, etc.). Well, maybe the amounts per offense need to be increased because if they're still doing these infractions this late in the season the penalties are impacting the players enough to change. So either increase the penalties or waive/cut the player.

Heres the first thing a coach should do.. tell ur players if u are out there celebrating one play while we r down the entire game you will be benched, if u are tweeting or on social media talking about how good u are while we are having a loosing season your benched, if you dont show up to practice or meetings on time you are benched, if we have to slow down our weekly reps and production so u can keep up u r benched, and all teams should hand out some kind of penalty/fine to players for just ridiculous oenalties in middle of game.
The number of DBs who tackle properly is near zero across the league. They all throw shoulders and hope bumping people is sufficient. This is because: 1. They are sprinters rather than football players; 2. They haven't been taught properly at any level of football; 3. They may business decisions and don't want to get hurt wrapping up.

Well if we had Sherlock Holmes studying the evidence he would uncover the culprits and turn them over to be dealt with. But Holmes is a fictional character and in reality there is far more uncertainty and you may end up not knowing fully who is to blame. At the top if you at least agree that you replace the GM then decide whether the GM or the Head Coach is in charge that person makes a plan. The plan in place the discussion goes along the lines of who fits or doesn't fit the plan. Nothing personal. Honestly Gus was the only coach this season that made adjustments the defense actually improved and played well for many weeks and I’ve been calling for the firing of Gus Bradley since last season. I still think Gus Bradley should be fired but he is just a small piece of a larger puzzle. Irsay, Ballard, Steichen, Bradley and everyone in between should be held accountable. And half the players on the team should be 3rd team elsewhere. This is not a winning organization and trying to build what we had years ago has cost this team years of good football. There may never be another Bill Polian who built through the draft and made little moves in free agency. There may never be another “good guy” Christian coach like Dungy. There may never be another Peyton Manning and the winning mentality that team had. There’s a thousand ways to build a winning team and we’re stuck looking for one that may never be replicated.

You blame the scheme, regardless of if the problem was player effort, player decision, overall execution, or the play call. None of those things are a scheme issue. The scheme is the problem when all of those things, and more, go right, and it still fails. I don't know how you can watch that game and believe that a scheme change would alter the game in any way. If the 85 Bears played with the effort and execution our players did, they would not be remembered today at all, because they would have been beaten like a drum too.
But the scheme for the '85 Bears fit the players on it, and was revolutionary in its time. They were also exceptionally talented. The defensive scheme has yielded points against rankings of 23, 26, 28, 28, and 27 for three different teams. Either the scheme doesn't fit the players or the talent doesn't fit the scheme. The scheme is in the mix as a serious problem.

Sure I have empathy for the guy, but I never allow my emotions to dictate my business decisions. He's gotta go. His schemes are outdated. I wouldn't employ Glen Pop Warner to be my offensive coordinator so we could run the wing -T formation either. Concepts change and evolve, and you must adjust to remain competitive.

Kent, I think you could learn something from Gus in this response. You always piss and moan about the scheme. You blame the scheme, regardless of if the problem was player effort, player decision, overall execution, or the play call. None of those things are a scheme issue. The scheme is the problem when all of those things, and more, go right, and it still fails.
I don't know how you can watch that game and believe that a scheme change would alter the game in any way. If the 85 Bears played with the effort and execution our players did, they would not be remembered today at all, because they would have been beaten like a drum too.
But the scheme for the '85 Bears fit the players on it, and was revolutionary in its time. They were also exceptionally talented. The defensive scheme has yielded points against rankings of 23, 26, 28, 28, and 27 for three different teams. Either the scheme doesn't fit the players or the talent doesn't fit the scheme. The scheme is in the mix as a serious problem.

I still believe that the biggest issue is the quality of players. Diamonds in the rough are nice, but maybe it's time to stop sifting through the dirt.

Ballard is great at finding overachieving 3* guys. Things would look different if we had a 5* guy somewhere in the backfield, regardless of the scheme.
