Thank you for all of the great ideas! My GSD is getting more walks than ever before but I think the fact that we are around all of the time has her all excited. She just won't settle down. We will definitely be trying these.
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a way to get back into an instagram account? I stupidly forgot my password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Harlan Wilder thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im trying it out atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Harlan Wilder HOLY **** IT REALLY WORKED :O Just hacked my ig account after about 30 minutes by using the site. Just had to pay 15 $ but for sure worth the price =) Thank you so much you really help me out !
For the stairs make sure your pup is at least a year old for they haven’t finished growing be careful as for your dog may injure there ACL and trust me that surgery cost upwards from $2,000-6,000
@@denccvv1107 I taught my dog at 3 months. He actually kind of taught himself. It’s important to do certain things like stairs before a year that way they’re not scared of it. I waited to introduce my dog to swimming after he was a year old and he went in the deep end (by mistake) but now he is terrified of going in deep. Even though he loves the water! He attempts to go swimming but he gets scared because of the one experience where he almost drowned.
I taught one dog who was terrified of stairs but actually just carrying her up and down the stairs and she was scared of me carrying her more than she was of the stairs so eventually she just decided to go up and down herself instead of me awkwardly carrying her 😂 didn’t even take treats! Dogs are so smart!
Another Great Video. Thanks for the advice. My Min Pin got the zoomies yesterday. I'm gonna try teaching some of the bigger dogs I take care of a new tricks. I bet their owners will love that!
This is also a perfect time to work on any separation anxiety issues since you can run drills desensitizing the normal "I'm going out" things us humans do. Another that I've found helpful is just taking your time on a walk so your dog uses his nose and brain. Sure, the walk takes longer, but what else are we going to do when trapped at home. We also play "find the kibble" that I hide around my home. Also, I'd like to suggest if people are going to use Kongs a lot during the day (I know I do on some days) to use part of their kibble instead of treats and then add a layer of peanut butter to seal it up. Maybe have two Kongs so you've got one in the freezer at all times for extra lasting power.
I agree with everything you've said! Especially with the kibble in the kong. Some dogs aren't as interested if it's their kibble. If that's the case, I've often cooked some bacon (one or 2 slices will do), cut it up into tiny bits, and then put it in a baggie for a bit with the kibble in order to "marinate". It makes it more appealing to them but means you can avoid giving too many high calorie treats
Liked the video! And sorry for saying something 'bad', but be careful with the #5, going up/down stairs are bad for dogs, they body are not mean to do that and can generate future problems (when they became old). So, dont play going up/down the stairs.. really! But nice tips! Thx for the video.
Thank you for saying that so kindly :) I'm always open to feedback, especially when it's meant to help rather than hurt. That's one thing that I love about the dog community! In general, everyone is always so willing to help each other learn, and in such a nice way
@@InRuffCompany Sure! What unite us is the love for the dogs, so we can just keep the good energy around! I just said that because I already saw 3 dogs with pelvis problems (big dogs have that problem more often), and the vet said that the principal enemy for the dog pelvis are the stairs. :) Be safe this season!
@@GoodBoy-lu4wx kind of.. what breed is your dog? if its a big dog, be more careful. go to the vet and ask about hip dysplasia, and what you can do to prevent it. its more genetic, but you can make it goes faster. a good feedings its crucial to keep his bones and joints health.
I have a HIGH ENERGY 16-month-old rescue. She's a Lab/Terrier and has lots of anxiety from her former life in a cratel The best thing for my girl is an off-leash playtime in our condo community's tennis court. I taught her to sit and stay in there and to retrieve the Kong ball. We have a leash law in our township so it's a long drive to a wooded area for a long run. We live in a condo so that means no backyard, no kiddie pool etc.
@Student Jack Roberts making big dogs run up and down stairs is even worse. Giant breed dogs are already predisposed to joint issues and having them go up and down stairs just can make these issues way worse.
Thanks for watching! Boomer and Demi haven't done much agility (but I have done it A LOT with my old dog), and I was thinking of making a BIG agility course in my backyard using things I find around the house. Would you all be interested in seeing that as a vlog in and of itself (as in, the set up/competition of it), or would you want me to throw in some tips/educational bits as well?
It can be really bad for the dog though, especially if it's a breed that often gets problems with hip dysplacia or other stuctural problems. If the dog is 100% healthy and has a good bone structure it should be fine, just be careful so they don't fall.
If you are a first time owner you should do some research! Malinois are highly energetic and are good with training. Teach them how to play fetch properly and stuff. Hope it goes well.
I’m taking care of my brothers GSD for about a week while hes out of town, i’m trying to train him. Hes a really hyper pup but loves affection so i wonder how its gonna go
I have my first dog and he's an American bandog and he's a big softy at 10 months. my dogs bites are damn cute he never really tries to bite hard, even with chew ropes he bites them a little then lets go. I don't train him to chew ropes and tug and make him aggressive. he loves chasing my feet and biting my shoes so I let him and then when it's too much I say NO NO MORE! and he stops. same for when he's nibbling my hand and fingers, if he bites too hard I tell him and let him know and next bite is softer so he does understand and listen. I just wish his recall was good and 3 times now within last month he's ran off away from me and im shouting him at top of my voice for over 15 minutes trying to find him and have him come to me. normally he stays close by and not go off far and always follow me. now he's becoming too big for his boots and I don't like it so I teach him to have muzzle on and walk home now because u ran away from me so ur not walking home free off the lead. he doesn't like the muzzle but its tough shit, he shouldn't run off on me and have me worried and crying and shouting him for ages. im coming to the point where I won't enjoy my walks now and let him off the lead. my dogs dads owner said u might want to look at getting a shock collar. I got a leather muzzle for my dog so I can have my mind at ease and let him off the lead and not worry about him going to other dogs or people. he's not aggressive or barky and just want to play play play with everything. the leather muzzle helps me control him like a halti does and without that he's a little pully, not very pully but it can be annoying constant pulling a little all the way to somewhere because he hasn't let his energy out and be off the lead, after being off lead he's calm and walks normal no pulling. also tbh when I seen ur dog next to u being hyper active I was like no I couldn't deal with that its too much calm down now! lol my bandog gets a little hypo but yeah mainly when in bed the idiot when im trying to sleep.
Never use a shock collar! Especially for something that's so easily trainable if the owner just puts the time and work in. Most the time, it's the owner that needs to be trained in how to properly train their dog. Rarely is a lack of listening and responding the dogs fault. Dogs, like humans, aren't a one size fits all when it comes to how they learn best. You have to try many different things until you find what works. Some are food motivated, some toy motivated, and some just love the praise they get when they do something right. You should constantly be rewarding and praising your puppy when they listen and do something right. Because if they don't have the motivation to care about doing something right, then they don't care about listening to you. Praise and reward when listening, and correct (not punish) when not listening. It's sometimes exhausting, but it's your job as their owner to put in the time and work. Eventually they will need less treats and such as they get older, and will just follow commands. There are a ton of recall training videos on RUclips. Try a bunch until you find what works. A shock collar was never meant for a quick fix to an issue because you won't put in the effort properly. If the dog is overly stubborn, the most I would use is a pronged collar and only on walks and while training, and you definitely have to look up proper use before using one. I hope this was helpful.
I actually have time to watch this video because my sisters puppy is finally sleeping in my lap right now, but when she wakes up these things will be useful
@Alicante Actress well it could be a rescue, I agree that could pose some issues as American pit bull terriers have some animal aggression in there genetics and GSD are very protective. Hi, Audrey from Mauritius Island, thanks for the video, really useful. Please, did you 'train' your 2 dogs together or apart?
This was very helpful! Thank you!
My puppy loves ice cubes. I put one small cube in each cup of a muffin tin. He loves it!
