I am new to this. A doubt. Why to use more data types if available a long range of value storage and the positive negative numbers also? Ex. Long has a long range of value and positive, negative numbers too.
Because if you want to store a number that has less range and you store it in long...then it can store it but your computer will use extra memory to store that number...and in programming you have to write an efficient code.

If a short stores a 16 bit value,then why is its min value -2^15?why is it 15?
Because the -ve take 1 bit😊
Because 16th bit denotes that number is positive or negative e.g if 16th bit is 1 then number is negative, and if 16th bit is 0 then number is positive
