Hey they have identified him! Gordie Sanderson, an Indigenous survivor of the Big Scoop and Foster care system. Genetic genealogy. The CBC and other Canadian venues have the story. RIP Gordie
Identified yes, but not solved. The RCMP are making claims that it was someone from Edmonton, but the locals know that that’s unlikely since the property where he was located was a derelict abandoned property, the McLeods didn’t own it they lived next door and knew that it was but that there was a unused sump that they could scavenge. Us locals have suspicions who might have done it but we know that it had to be someone local because not only was that property abandoned it’s tucked back way off any of the main roads in the bush, if you didn’t know it was there you never would have found it
Honestly the John and Jane Doe cases I feel are more important than the solved cases and possibly some other cases. Since they not only have no answers but also no identity which could help solve the case.
They are more important. At the same time, though, it is very satisfying to watch a solved case. I guess that it depends on your mood. If you are feeling that your life is a bit out of control, you want to see something with a resolution. At least, that's the way I feel.
this is a fascinating case but the reconstruction of the face terrifies me for some reason I remember hearing about this story when I was a child and that photo gave me nightmares for so long
I wish Jane and John Doe cases would get more attention on RUclips. I know you and Cayleigh Elise have done videos but other true crime RUclipsrs shy away from it. With exposure like the Caledonia Jane Doe exposure can give them their name back. I'm excited about ancestry sites as well solving some of these old John and Jane Doe cases like Marcie King previously known as Buckskin Jane Doe. There is a good ten I want solved in my lifetime so badly. No one should die nameless.
I actually subscribe to both of them. Love how Gabulosis covers older cases and the educational spin Danelle Hallan puts on her cases. Love both of them but do not associate them with John and Jane Doe cases. They do a lot of research and produce great content. I would recommend them myself if you have never seen any of their content.
There a bunch of others that I have started watching recently that I’ve enjoyed.. but I can’t even remember their names because I’ve only discovered them in the last week... I’ll jot their names down and share them with you when I watch them next!
Alright.. I just went and looked them up.. I haven’t gone through all their videos to know if there are Jane and John Doe cases but there might be some stuff you like if you don’t follow them already... Shauna Rae, Stephanie Harlowe, Bella Fiori, Eleanor Neale, Caitlin Rose
I live in Canada and just read online news stating that "Sam" has been identified through familial DNA! His identity will be released tomorrow, June 30 hopefully.
Septic Tank Sam has been identified as Gordon Edwin Sanderson. A First Nations man who was a resident of Edmonton, Alberta CAN at the time of his murder. He was a 26 year old man who survived the 60's scoop only to suffer a horrifying death.
Like they did? you assume a bit too much. Prolonged torture doesn't fit with a killer wanting to "get back", those are most often outbursts leading to overkill, not keeping them like this. Premeditated and dragged out torture, we're probably talking a sadist with much less emotional depth than that
The child molester theory is what makes most sense to me. Small town, probably got away with it a lot, and the people wanted him tortured, in sexual ways as well, and that's why no one ID'd him.
I wonder if he was indigenous? Indigenous crimes are so bad in Canada, especially in the 60s and before. Look up indigenous boarding schools in Canada.
Doe cases make me so upset... there's people out there without closure. They also make me upset because I wonder how many Does actually have no one looking for them?
I recently started an office job and I’m listening to these sort of as ‘podcasts’ while I do data entry, getting through them so fast don’t know what I’m gonna do when they run out
I live in SK the province beside Alberta, I can’t believe the torture he went through. Based on the composite he definitely looks like a native male, could he have been from a reserve nearby?
420SJA I live in Edmonton, and I am definitely inclined to believe this theory. I do think he was an indigenous man and I think that is part of the reason he doesn’t have his name back, tbh.
With Sams case I always felt it had the feeling of revenge torture and killing. Possibly by a victim of sexual assault. The genital mutilation seems very person and emotional, as does leaving someone in a septic tank to show the most disrespect they could to him even after death. Maybe that is why no one reported him missing, especially in the tight knit native community. They knew what he was and had no care about what his fate was. Or even he might have been in a relationship with someone and it pissed someone off enough to do such a atrocious thing to him.
You always do an incredible job with these kind of cases Georgia. They are so interesting and I am really glad that you cover them. Your hard work is very much appreciated. Love this.Thank you for sharing.♡
I had a feeling it was your video that I heard about this from! I saw and article by the CBC that he's been identified! They haven't released it to the public yet though.
I feel like whoever did this has a very personal motive. The excessive torture really leads me to think someone knew him and did it for emotional reasons
jon and jane doe cases are actually more interesting to me i wish u would cover the less well known ones .this one is so sad to me its one of the ones that never leaves my mind like the boy in the box.i hope that this particular case is eventually solved even if he only gets his name back and a proper burial

I have always considered and leaned towards the theory of the murder being the result of a vigilante killing such as him being a rapist/pedophile due to him being heavily tortured sexually mutilated, like he was - I just seems way too personal to be a random murder or the work of a serial killer, it seems more of a revenge killing. However, like you mentioned it is only a theory, which has no solid evidence. This case has always played on my mind since I stumbled across it on Reddit a couple of months ago. Very unsettling. The pictures about him are so chilling.. full body chills
I know… it’s so creepy😢
I think the genital mutilation means it was much more personal than a hate crime , like the killer knew him and wanted him to suffer like they did

Could be possible if its not a hate crime against a native person... That was common also.
