Thanks for including clips of Jade dropping food and throwing the plate on the floor! I felt like my baby is only one doing it since most blw videos show babies eating most of the food well. I also love how you say your baby did well when she didn't most of her food! I get very frustrated when my baby doesn't finish all her food which is pretty much all the time. Thank you so much for noticing! Showing that was very important to me because it’s realistic especially when first starting out with BLW. Playing with their food, throwing it, and not finishing everything is completely normal. It’s all part or the process. It’s your baby’s way of getting used to all the different flavors and textures of the food. 😊

Thank you! I’ve been struggling so much because honestly I only eat once a day so it’s like ramming my head into a wall thinking of things to make & feed my daughter. She’ll be 7 months on the 18th & she’s done so good at BLW so I want to keep going because she loves food lol any kind of food she loves it.

My 9mo baby seems like he does not want a mushy traditional porridge anymore. He is always happy when he grab and eat his snack by himself.
I am a bit scared of the nutrition he gets if he eat himself, but seeing moms sharing their adventures training their baby to eat is really relieving.

Thank you so much. You’re too kind! 🥰 I recommend the Solid Starts App + their Instagram. On their app you can type in any food and then it was show you how to properly cut the food according to your baby’s age. It also has tons of videos of babies eating the food so you can get familiar with the difference between gagging and choking. It was super helpful for me! 😊
I highly recommend the lifevac for choking!!!! I keep one in my car, one at the baby sitters and one in home and it has eased my worries 100%. Totally worth the money if you’re worried about choking

This was so helpful. I’m a first time mom and I’ve been doing purées for about two months but my daughter seems interested in food when I’m eating my own. I think we’re ready to move on to finger foods, im excited and nervous lol

We actually give our baby a combination of purées and finger foods. I know it’s not for everyone but I feel he gets more veggies that way.

@@mariaflores8299 yes just do the pre loaded spoon method. Traditional spoon feeding doesn’t correspond with BLW.

I started blw & i still do this, but i felt like we weren't interacting together enough at meal times & I've incorporated spoon feeding my daughter purees...especially for the times i can't bathe her right after each meal. She likes to rub whatever is on her fingers into her hair 😂 Thanks for the meal ideas!!

Yes! Just make sure your baby meets all the readiness signs before starting. Has an interest in food, is able to bring hands to mouth, is able to sit unassisted for at least a minute, and has great head control. 😊

No those were added on. I have a video on my channel of us making over the highchair & setting it up.
Do the wooden suction plates stick on very well?
Yes! She’s tried to pull them off but they don’t budge.
what is the feeding schedule like for everyone? how long after a feeding do you offer solids?
Usually I like to breastfeed her first and then about an hour after I’ll give her solids. For their first year of life breast milk or formula is where their main nutrients should come from so you want to make sure when you introduce solids you don’t drop or replace any feedings. Hope that helps 😊

Hey! Though it can be scary and frustrating at times the gagging and spitting up is normal especially when first introducing solids. A baby’s gag reflex is more towards the front of their mouths vs the back like ours so it’s common for them to gag frequently. It’s also their way of preventing any choking. It’s also normal for your baby to play with their food. Your baby is just trying to get used to all the different textures, tastes, and how much food they can handle. An amazing resource that helped me is Solid Starts. They have an Instagram with tons of info. I also recommend their app. They show you how to properly cut and serve foods. What foods are age appropriate for your baby. There’s also videos of different baby’s eating the foods.

Question, so what does the feeding schedule look like? I know you mentioned your still giving her bm so how do you balance when to feed a bottle vs food?
I always breastfed her first! Food came second because breastmilk or formula should be a baby’s main source of nutrition until they’re 1. I didn’t put any pressure on her to eat a ton of food because she was still getting plenty of milk.

No I never feed her. The purpose of baby led weaning is to follow your child’s lead so you let them eat as much as they want. As they get comfortable with eating they will know when they’re full and are done. Even if they don’t eat everything on their plate it’s fine because their main source of nutrition for their 1st year comes from breast milk or formula.
She must be rich to throw all that food in the Trash like that.

I didn’t start until just before she turned 7 months. I wanted to wait until she met the most important readiness sign which is being able to sit unassisted for at least a minute. Sitting up on their own is super important so they can properly chew their food and gag if they need to. Thank you btw 😊

My daughter also not eat ..only scrumble and squeeze the food. If i tried to feed sometime she eats sometimes not .. so i m worried about it that how her stomach will fill if not eating by herself or by myself while in dining table

Plain Cheerios are good for around 9 months old. I just checked on this app I have called “Solid Starts”. I was referred to it. On the app you can click what Age your baby is (starting with what food they can eat), It has a list of food of how to introduce, what age to feed your baby (size wise), they have video clips of it. It’s super helpful even though I’m clueless and lost with this being a FTM. And I’m still nervous about giving my baby girl cheerios as a choking hazard as well. She’s 10 months old.
Does Jade have a few teeth? I’m not sure if I need to wait for my girl to have more teeth for her to be able to eat some of the dryer things like Cheerios. (First time mom 🥴) Also do you find that banana constipates her at all?
She actually didn’t have any in this video. She didn’t get her first tooth until she was 11 months. Babies don’t need teeth to eat. Their gums are strong enough. You can always start with softer foods first so your baby can get the hang of chewing and then when you feel comfortable you can start adding different textures. The bananas didn’t have any affect on her.

At least 6 months but you ultimately want to wait until your baby is able to sit up unassisted that way they can properly gag if they need to so they can avoid choking.

I'm really scared of choking... I bought a BLW audio books and cookbook and choking hasn't been talked about much but obviously it's a huge fear? How do you trust your baby won't choke? Especially on those cheerios ?
Before starting I took an infant cpr class and I watched a ton of videos to learn the difference between gagging and choking. Learning the difference between the two is key! You want to make sure you let your baby work through gagging because if you try to fish out food with your finger you can cause them to choke. A baby’s gag reflex is towards the front of their mouth vs the back like ours so they’re more likely to gag. Gagging is good though because it’s their way of preventing choking. A good resource for this info is Solid Starts on Instagram. They’re a team of pediatric feeding experts and doctors. They share videos of babies gagging so you can become familiar with what it looks and sounds like. Their app is also great to learn how to cut and prepare food properly to avoid any choking hazards.

My daughter actually didn’t have any teeth in this video. She didn’t start getting teeth until right before her 1st birthday. I definitely recommend solid starts on Instagram + their app. They share a ton of great info on BLW & how to properly prepare food.
My baby is 12 months. I am still breastfeeding him. I always makes different foods for him but he doesn’t like most of them always ends up with breastfeeding. I am so worried what should i do now 😢

6 months but you mainly want to wait until your baby can sit up unassisted. Due to that I didn’t start giving her solids until 7 months.
