- What an incredible day out, a total of five silver finds, including a Roman silver all topped off by my buddy's Roman Gold Fede Ring [Wedding Ring] and Umbonate Brooch, an absolutely amazing detecting day.
The Roman ring is stunning and the silver British coins are very nice.

@@Janhyooz It’s amazing really Ian how much is still undiscovered and how fast the history is, it’ll be interesting to see what the TT say about it? that would be my dream find of a life time incredible . here in nz theres nothing very old maybe 180 years if u r lucky .imagine if u could see back in time to see who wore that ring and how they lost it .cannot imagine the thrill u had in finding it

That was an Awesome 22carrot Gold Roman Ring Ian,that’s what we do this Hobby for to find Ancient Roman treasures like that. It looked small looks like a woman’s ring,but I may be wrong. But it’s Beautiful what a find mate a true bucket lister 👍👌😊all the very Best to you HH.

Hi Gordon, very strange but I've had several people telling me they've been "Unsubbed" must be something that RUclips does as I haven't [and wouldn't] unsub anyone. I've actually been putting videos out on average every two weeks for years now, except for a period of a few months around 8 years ago. I find it odd that all of these items were found in an open field. What is the history of the land? Was there a city located there in the past where commerce would have taken place? Just seems odd to me.
Hi Edwin, thanks for your post, not really so odd when you think that there has been at least 6000 years of occupation in Britain, interspersed with centuries of wars, sackings, raids and other internecine strife. There are many places in Britain where there were villages, settlements and even towns that have now disappeared and become fields, I have detected on several archaeological sites in Cumberland that have produced huge amounts of small finds [coins and artefacts] from bronze age through Roman occupation through Viking occupation to medieval and modern eras, that's what makes detecting here so interesting. I guess people in the past were very careless about dropping valuables in farm fields. Odd...
Hi, although these items are found in farmers fields today, they weren't always farmers fields, some have been sites where towns and villages were in the past or where pathways were in use for many years but no longer in use. Part of the "art" of metal detecting is researching where people used to live, camp or travel and, in many cases, these sites are now used by farmers. Yes, they probably will, but they will have to pay a reasonable value for it, even though the treasure process seems to take at least two years to complete. Will just have to wait and see. Thanks for watching. GL&HH.
