Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Thanks for checking them out. The maid outfits might seem like a gimmick at first, but once you dive into their music you'll realize that they have so much talent that they don't need gimmicks.
Oh, and Kobato Miku, the rhythm guitarist (she plays the Silver Zemaitis) , band founder (has red flower) and main lyricist likes Enka! It's always her choice for Karaoke songs. lol It's not in the documentary but I heard it mentioned in an interview. Her like of Enka is in the Kobato Miku documentary, however. :)
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. While they don't class themselves as a metal band, they don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. And they are the best live band I have ever witnessed!
Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

Maids and maid culture has been part of Japanese pop culture for several decades. It started as a branch of cosplay where girls dressed in "cute" clothes. There are other styles such as "Lolita" and "Princesss" clothes. Someone got the idea to start a maid cafe where the servers dress as maids and sing and dance to entertain the clients. The band founder worked at a couple such cafes and wanted to combine the cute image with hard rock as a counterpoint to one another.
That guitar is a PRS, or Paul Reed Smith. Just a couple of days ago she was actually given her own signature model PRS, which was presented by Paul himself. She's the first Japanese person to have their own signature PRS. It's a HUGE but very deserved accomplishment. These ladies are BADASS and simply great players and songwriters. Best band in the world today, IMO.

Tienes una carretera larga porque llevan 11 años y cómo 130 y pico canciones,pero son tremenda y en vivo son espectacular. Se llaman Maids porque en Japón hay cafeterias que se visten asi y la que formó la banda con la rosa roja trabajo en una cafetería, si quieres saber como se formó la banda te recomiendo el documentario de Miku Kobato,tiene la respuestas de cualquier pregunta que tengas. Cada una tiene su documentario te los recomiendo.

BAND-MAID , viene de su Fundadora Miku Kobato la 2º vocalista y guitarra rítmica ,la de la rosa azul en el pelo ,(no sabia tocar la guitarra cuando empezó este viaje hace 12+1 año ) . Miku Kobato quería dedicare al canto , por lo q para costear ,1er sus viajes a Tokio desde su ciudad natal y luego su vida ,dejando la Universidad , en Tokio comenzó a trabajar en 2 o 3 trabajos , uno de ellos fue camarera en los Maid-Cafe , como cafeterías pero temáticas (imagino q los conoces) en estas cafeterías las camareras van con un uniforme de MAID (sirvientas) de época (victoriana) de ahí su uniforme de batalla como ellas los llaman .
Lo de la estética es lo mismo q lo q hacían los Kiss , o todo el "genero" del Glan Rock , es una forma de establecer tu marca y diferenciarse del resto , Los beatles , al inicio tenían su marca estética los led zeppelin y casi todos los grupos famosos , importantes y no importantes , tenían su marca visual , su impronta .

En realidad, Japón lleva produciendo hard rock y metal ininterrumpidamente desde finales de los años setenta... así que estamos hablando de un bagaje de cientos de bandas.
Y sí, al igual que Toru, Kanami también usa una guitarra PRS... pero definitivamente ella es mucho mejor guitarrista, al igual que Misa es mucho mejor bajista que Ryota, Tomoya tiene un excelente trabajo de "tom-tom y snare", pero prefiero el "footwork" de Akane al cien por cien, ella es simplemente brillante.
Taka es punto y aparte, por supuesto que hay cantantes con más talento y técnicamente mucho mejores, como Kuroneko, Yuko Suzuhana, Fuyuki Tenge, Shiho Ochi, Akane Liv o Masatoshi Ono... pero la sensibilidad y el carisma de Taka lo hacen único.😉
