A great symbol of WWI, Manfred Albrecht Freiherr von Richthofen, known the world over as the ‘Red Baron’, was a fighter pilot for the German Air Service. Considered the deadliest flying ace, he had 80 confirmed allied kills to his name. He was known as the ‘Red Baron’ because of his distinctive red plane. The Red Baron wasn't a soldier, he was a warrior. He didn't just fight for his country, he fought for the valor and honor of aerial combat. He respected his foes rather then hate them, and as such he has been immortalized as the finest airman in World War 1.

If I remember correctly, WW1 quite a few pilots were quite the gentlemen. Many of them being from the more elite families of Europe, because of this they actually knew each other. So, when they were required to fight each other, the intent would be to disable the plane rather than the pilot, giving them a chance to land and live another day.

What was left of it was sent to the Berlin museum, which was apparently destroyed during Allied bombing in WW2 although I've read somewhere that the wreck survived and was moved somewhere else but forgotten. I wouldn't be surprised if it did end up in the USA as a souvenir or historic theft as many other things did.

I didn't knew about who buried him. I knew he was respected by the foes. But that much respect... Wow.
Imagine, you're fighting in war and have that deep respect for your enemy. It's hard to believe in that strong and huge humanity... Preggo me shed a tear 🙄 there are so many story's in war that just show love, appreciation and humanity. In those Situations! I can't even imagine being in war, but less i could imagine to celebrate Christmas or having such a funeral for my enemies. It's amazing. Maybe this part is even more amazing then von Richthofen's skills... Just an impressive story. Thank you for this video and the education

I mean even though a big part of war is to demonize the opponent. Humanity does overrule the regular doctrine every now and then. The respect shown here, the Christmas truce, the story behind no bullets fly.
Soldiers are after all just humans paying with their lives for the failures of their leaders. They aren't inherently evil, no matter what the victor puts in the books of history or the current leaders tell us.

Yarnhub what a great video. Music and the way this story was told while telling it. To make this was nothing short of a masterpiece. For the story told you couldn't have made this any better. To be honored as a true fighter of the sky. What more could one ask for as a fighter ace. What a collaboration. What will be the next video. You got the worlds attention now. Too say I loved this video is an understatement.
