Thank you for this video. I just joined my first static and trying to "raid" in ffxiv for the first, serious time. Its a lot to learn when ive been playing the game since heavensward but never any hardcore content. Lots of jargon and stuff i had no idea existed before. This was helpful
I mean… I’ve been playing for like 3 weeks. I’ve been maining whm cause I like it. But I hardly understand half of what’s being said in these videos or in my NN chat. I’m not simple, once I see a mechanic (and die to it provably) for the first time, I learn it and that’s that. But even to listen to some of the sentences that this creator says it’s just as well I cross my eyes and blow raspberries. Kinda frustrating but I’ve learned not to care and just do what I can.
@@DemocracySpreader I'd be happy to clarify anything that you found confusing or answer any questions that you have about things I went over in the video :]
I have been trying to get in since Endwalker and a combination of bad experiences from PF, drama in the FC, and Statics falling apart or having overly high requirements or restrictions that lock me out from doing it as well as tons of outside factors kind of made me sour on raiding as a whole. I tried each tier to get people to help me and they either reject me while letting in people even newer to the game who haven't touched raiding than me, friends too busy raiding themselves to help me, or PF being exhausting, I feel writing is on the wall that raiding is a wall I can't simply break down. But I did give this guide to a friend of mine who wanted to get in. I may feel sour on raiding due to my personal experiences and no one trusting me simply for being new to raiding even if they claimed to help newbies doesn't mean I shouldn't help friends. It was informative for them at least.
Absolute First Step: Sincerely understand that you are far from the worst player in this game. But you will really only find that out when you go play the hard content. A lot of new players have this fear that they will be a burden to the other players. That fear will disappear quickly when these supposed other "better"players who have no business inflicting themselves on anyone else inflicts themselves on you. So get out there!
My first savage experience is already filled with people lying about their progging point in a clear party smh 😂 Why can't these people just be bad, they should choose one and not a combo of bad + liar.
Agree completely. I've been playing since heavensward but never hardcore. For dawntrail, I finally decided to join a static I was invited to and the whole first night playing with them, I was weirdly nervous. Kept thinking I'm clueless and holding them back. I had no reason to think this, but I did. It didn't take long before I realized everyone was making mistakes. Some repeating their mistakes. Some making bigger mistakes than others. It resolved my anxiety and made me realize even hardcore players can suck at the game when everyone's learning a fight.
i'm still a "new" raider (started playing less than a year ago, raiidng only since march) but i managed to clear the entire anabaseios savage within the last month of endwalker and cleared m1s-m4s week one. so, quite literally, just raid! if you're interested and find it fun, you'll pick things up and improve. if anyone's reading this who's scared to get started like i was (cuz everyone treats hard content as if it's the pinnacle of skill) i want you to know there's no glory in raiding! your parse doesn't matter! your prog point doesn't matter! you're not any less than the guy who afk's in limsa with his shiny weapon out. as long as you're having fun, it's time well spent, and that's a win for YOU and y'know what? if you're not having fun, there's no need to do extreme/savage/ultimate. there are so many things to do in this game or outside of it that might be a million times better for you; do those things, and don't listen to anyone who might try to put you down for it!
As someone actively trying to do this, this gives me hope and more confidence. I just cleared my first on level trial, aka ex1. Now I've gotta keep improving and throwing myself at bosses :)
This is such a well put together video! I Definitely think covers everything for someone who wants to start raiding for the first time, I wish i had this back then when I started.
Prog point should be your personal point that you can reach in the fight consistently but are still learning. PF likes to think their prog point is however far they've seen once in gameplay even if they are floor tanking
My friend is part of a Static, and… I, in a mad bid to follow them, made P9S my first Savage Raid just before DawnTrail came out. 😅 I had two weeks, and kept attempting every day… I consulted guides, but Levinstrike made NO sense to me- it took five of them for me to even begin “getting” it! … I couldn’t clear it before the DR deadline. 😅 And now the whole notion scares me a little more than before.
yo, this is so helpful & clearly communicated. Raids with "personal responsibility" holy sht lol no afk gaming eh I've never raided, but down to try now, tbh
How to start rading: do the content you wanna do, just that easy. It's a video game at the end of the day, why be nervous? We're all just here to have fun on our free time.
I'm scared and overwhelmed to start doing savage for the first time, I've made all the preparations possible, I'm even visualizing myself doing the fights, wiping the party as I learn, and also beating the boss... that's how locked in I'm am lol. Thank you for the explanation about the look. Books are basically the totems you get from EX's as an alternative to save up for the weapons/gear on the side if you didn't get the piece when beating the fights. That makes me assume you actually get the pieces of gear from the chests and not a piece of something to trade later?
don't be afraid to just jump in and get started! no one is a god gamer at first, EVERYONE starts from a place of mistakes :] and yep, savage drops coffers ("head gear coffer," "chest piece coffer," "glove coffer," etc)
If I miss the first few weeks, am I out of luck for the entire expansion? Cause the only experience with hard content I have is pf UWU and still have nightmares from that.
absolutely not! there are many people who start prog VERY late - months after the tier has been released. Obviously as time goes on, there are less and less people actively progging, but there are always people like myself who have already cleared but like to join prog/clear parties to help out.
@@ClarissaEvergarden Ok. I was worried that everyone would be too busy to go back to help newbies trying to start, and that I'd be better off giving up on savage entirely. Because that's what happened last expansion. My friends came back to the game late in the expansion and people were only interested in the last tier, which deflated us.
I have around 800 hours in game right now. Apart from unrestricted grinding for mounts, I haven't even touched extremes because I'm scared to be the entire problem
Extremes are the best place to start because when joining a fresh group, either everyone doesn't know the fight, or a bunch of people don't with some vets helping out. I highly recommend the current 2 Extremes if you want to start because not only are they fun, but they play out in two different ways. Also, trust me, even in reclear/farm parties...loads of people mess up. If you're super unsure, keep joining practice groups until you're confident, and you'll get through it!
I wanted to start raiding woth this expansion but i still havent been able to bring myself to try ex yet. Ill pull up the party finder and start feeling the anxiety so i bail out before joining anything.
Wanted to ask you but for ultimates you said to be able to at least clear one tier do you mean the whole tier like from floor one to floor 12 bc that kinda confused me ngl also amazing video
Ok I wasn't quite sure if you ment the whole tier and just wanted to ask because it kinda confused me because I didn't know if you meant the whole tier like 1-12 or just the 1-4 5-8 or the 9-12 thanks for clarification

idk if i wanna stay subbded already they need to do something about the weekly lockout i hate having to wait 1 week to do any svg raids after i got my clears for ppl that love the savage raids but don't do ultimates or other content this game is so dry and lacking tuesday login clear and nothing to do for an entire week unless you get lucky and can help an any chest group clear its so bad and no i would even do them for fun loot comes after
step 1: you don't (i refuse to spend money just to play hardcore content that require months or even years to clear and idk seems a huge waste of time and money)
Saying anything in FFXIV takes years to clear is either a grossly dishonest or more likely uninformed exaggeration, as nothing in this game takes anywhere near that long to clear. World first of the savage tier that just released this week cleared the entire tier in under 9 hours, my group cleared the tier in 3 days completely blind, lots of other groups cleared between days 1-4 not blind, and so many people clear within the first week. So many other people are not in a rush to clear as quickly as possible, because they enjoy raiding and playing the game. If playing a game sounds like a waste of time to you, that just means you're not interested in it, and that's perfectly fine. I could list any number of hobbies that seem like "a waste of time" to me because I wouldn't enjoy them, but they are not a waste of time to the people that do enjoy them. "Refusing to spend money to play xyz content" is also a very ignorant thing to say. XIV is one of the most (if not the most) frequently updated MMOs, with devs always working on and releasing new content, hence the monthly subscription fee. I didn't think I would ever be willing to pay a monthly sub, but I ended up enjoying XIV so much that I've been playing for over 5 years now. Obviously no one would *prefer* a monthly fee over a one time purchase, but devs need to be compensated for their work so that they can continue to make more content for the game. All that aside, no one here is trying to convince you to play FFXIV or to raid in it. If you don't want to, then don't. This video is just meant to help people who are interested in raiding but are unsure of where to begin :]
and no i know friends that have been playing this game for years and still they can't clear all of the ultimates and most savages, you mostly got lucky in finding a static because you're a youtuber probably
also >if you don't want to, then don't fair, unfortunately this game has mostly only raiding as contents so or i don't play or i don't play the game, i don't have much of a choice do i
I have something to say: The last days I played Arcadion 1-4 like many others but the thing I have to say is: NO ONE NEEDS "GREEN DPS" - Healer which make damage. Its so pitiful and CONCENTRATE ON HEALING. So many healers need irl therapy, really
Healer damage does actually matter a lot when it comes to endgame content, and it will make normal content much faster if the healers are doing damage when they don't need to be healing! Obviously as a healer, you need to prioritize healing over damage, but XIV is different from other MMOs where it is actually designed around healers doing damage - because they are not meant to be constantly healing in XIV. The normal Dawntrail content so far has all been good, and actually required healing which is a very nice change!
Thank you guys so much for watching! If you've been wanting to get started with raiding in XIV, I hope this was able to help encourage you to take the plunge!
