Get pillars of eternity 1. I was impressed with the storyline. Plus its pretty much bug free and its at a lower price. The load screen between areas is still the main headache as with most ports of this kind. I would still recommend it.
@@WhirlwindHeatAndFlash I disagree. POE 2 is much much better. Storyline lack of consistent, I agree, and the gap between the side quests and the main quest is real. But the lore is great, the content is huge, the gameplay is a terrific improvement and since v5.0 the game Is not easy as it might have been at its debut. I've spend 350 hours on POE2 and merely 100 hours on POE, because of the lack of immersion for the first one.
The best : Turn based combat option, general asthetic of the game are incredible, customization The worst : loading times in consoles, story can be bored sometimes, horrendous AI of the companions
Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 are AMAZING. I am not a classic RPG fan and I gave Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 a try, but I got bored after 15 hours. So far I have sunk almost 200 hours in Pillars of Eternity 1 and 2 and I'm still in love. The storytelling is amazing and the AI scripting in part 2 is pretty cool.
Why in God's name would you label a video "9 things you need to know about pillars of eternity 2" ( obviously aimed at those yet to play it) and literally drop spoilers non-stop from the first 10 seconds of the video straight through to the end? Jfc.
PSA: Do not get this game on consoles at the moment. It is a very broken port with multiple bugs and crashes. This is a fantastic game, but it's a horrible port. If you really want to play this game wait for significant patches and updates to the game. Look up all the forums and threads online about this game to be informed. Have a wonderful day ;)
#1 - The game is an unoptimized, bug-ridden mess that bogs down even the beefiest hardware you can afford. #2 - Buy Divinity Original Sins 2 instead. You get better graphics, similar story, tighter gameplay, better sound design, better music (I swear, in Pillars 2, the background music of Nekataka will drive you insane if you don't disable it), and wait for it - with Divinity, with just one user's client, you can share with friends via LAN. That's right, LAN - in 2020!!!
This version of the game has a turn-based system, unlike the first Pillars of Eternity game. It's kinda closer to D&D than Divinity is in terms of stuff like multiclassing, turns (actions and bonus actions), and the way certain abilities and spells refresh on an encounter/rest basis, instead of Divinity's turn timers.
@@fareel25 Yeah. I got back into it after being turned off for ages by the RTwP style combat, and having recently gotten used to that style I've found it to be an incredible game.
Namely you need to know that it absolutely does not work on console. Your saves corrupt constantly, making the game impossible to enjoy trying to complete.
Definitely this. I gave original sin 1 and 2 a try, but I got bored after 15 hours. Pillars of eternity 1 and 2 are AMAZING and I've sunk almost 200 hours into them so far. The storytelling is unbeatable.
To IGN: how can you do a review video of a game without looking at the negatives?! And there are plenty of negative with this game: 1) load screens (1-2 minutes per load screen, each building can have up to 3 or 4 load screens) 2) game crashes with alarming regularity (every 15 minutes on PS4) 3) game will randomly make your save files corrupted (lost game time, either partial or total). I find it very misleading that you wouldn't make players aware that the game is actually UNPLAYABLE due to those issues. Have you actually played the game on console? Do you receive endorsement from the game creator for not mentioning such huge problems??
I loved this game at until it broke! Put about 20 hours in (ps4). All of my saved files somehow corrupted. Tried uninstalling the game. Nothing helps. After spending $60 to miss out on a great game, it kind of hurt my feelings.
Same here. All my save files were corrupted after 30 hours game time. Can't be fixed. Obsidian and VSevil acknowledge there are huge issues with playability/bugs and are working on a patch. No guarantee of when or even if it will be fixed. My choice? I returned this very expensive game (GBP 50.00) for a full refund. IF it ever becomes playable, I may consider buying it again.
On PC Pillars 1 and 2 are great games... really enjoyed the hell out of both :-I Sad to say Pillars 2 underperformed in sale numbers, thus a third entry is quite unlikely :-(
#1 Should be the damn bugs, and errors. Playing on ps4 i get an error every 20 minutes. Ps4 is up to date and so is the game. Not even excluding bugs. One thing you should do is SAVE every 5 min just in case..
Not at all it's not a hack n slash but much more tactical. In real time you'll often have to pause or slow time to manage your team. In turn based... Well it seems obvious it's not like diablo
This game is MUCH better than divinity. I could not stand original sin 1 and 2 and quit of boredom after 15 hours. However, I have sunk around 200 hours into pillars of eternity 1 and 2. The writing is unbeatable.
Both great games, dos:2 is more fantastical while pillars is more like playing d&d. Really up to preference, personally more a poe fan myself but i would say both if you ever get the chance.
Am i the only one who seriously cringed at most of the so obvious things that were said and some totally useless thing. Yes, but due to negative feedback about it being broken on consoles they took it down. They never mention how broken it is on consoles right now.

The things we need to know about this game is make sure you have mouse
This game is great bur the large number of crash-bugs and the long long loooooading time.
