I wish we had one here in Dallas TX. Love McKays and the few times I have gone to Nashville I always go. Half Price Books here in Dallas and elsewhere is nice. But I only get one or two things here and there. McKays is amazing!

Nice Tyrone Power box set. I heartily recommend "Love is News" if you haven't seen it. "That Wonderful Urge" is a remake done just 11 years later and not quite as good, but does have its moments.
@@JCH2768 this is another box that I’ve been meaning to pick up, but it’s much less common and usually more expensive than the adventure set I have. So when I saw the spine of the box poking out on the shelf, I immediately grabbed it!😂
Great video - could watch these all day as we share many of the same tastes. Wish this store existed in the Midwest. The closest thing we have is Half Price Books who often prices most of their stuff to Amazon pricing (because they are a major Amazon third party seller). Also - if there is a stranger assortment of covers than what was done for the various “Colonel Sun” releases, I’ve never seen it.

The original surrealist cover and then this simple amazing paperback cover, a variety of other approaches but the definitive is the US Bantam paperback with the amazing art by James Bama.
A decade ago I was living in Nashville and hit the store there every week, and a couple times at the Chattanooga store. I almost never spent any money because I received store credit on bulk trade-ins. Great times.
Wow some really good finds! I wish we had stores like that out in CA. We have a really good private business that does all kinds of media and culture but thats basically it. Im jealous of the Severin, Warner titles and the Grand Duel which i STILL have not gotten. But you know how it is ;) Cheers Crusader

@@sophiebongos I feel you on that. HPB is a nice concept and you can occasionally find great deals but they are very few and far between. Definitely stop by one of the McKay’s locations if you’re ever near one but be sure to set aside time..a lot of time.😂
Sounds like a business we used to have in my hometown called Hastings. And I think the spreading into things like musical instruments and toys was what led to their downfall.
@@rampdavidson6397 I definitely remember Hastings! McKay’s does have a little bit of a similar vibe, but their business model is smart in that they don’t sell anything new as a bookstore. It’s all stuff that has been traded in. They have such a constant large volume of material that’s always rotating that they can’t even put it all out at once.

I have the later mill creak reales of defenders of the earth and the movie version of phantom 2040 on dvd . Did that ever get a series release on dvd ?
@@Bucky749 sadly, there’s never been a complete series release of 2040. That’s one of my TV series Holy Grails to get an official release. All we got in the US was the movie compilation on VHS, laserdisc and then DVD. There were a handful of VHS tapes of individual episodes. A couple years ago there was a DVD release of season one in Australia, but it was very expensive to import and in the PAL format so it has speed up. They never did season two. Recently, the comics kingdom RUclips channel uploaded both 2040 and defenders of the Earth in their entirety, which was very surprising. But it just seems like old low quality masters for 2040 and a compressed version of the DVD master of defenders.
@@Schlocky I had pretty much resigned myself to not being able to participate, but thankfully a few things lined up and I was able to partially do it that day. You could tell the stores were not prepared for the sheer amount of people that showed up and the logistics were a bit nuts.

I went to the Chattanooga and Knoxville McKay's and got over $500 Trade-In combined during that event. I got a lot of Horror and TV series.
