    Looks great! I love small sets. I wish we got more of them, and across more themes.

      yes, they were really nice, especially for kids pocket money. Like I said in the vid you don’t really get anything like them these days apart from magazine gifts

    i still have this set. miss the days when sets were small and cars were 4 studs wide!

      Yes... 4-studs wide weer the best. Did you see my 4-stud wide version of the Coca-Cola "Holidays are coming" truck, based off the old 4-wide sets.

    I love the small sets, but nothing beats the 886 🥰

      886 is the best ever!!! I had several as a kid, and would LOVE to have one still in its box, but they aren't cheap! - The next best thing is that I own an unopened 6701 minifig pack: brickset.com/sets/6701-1/Minifig-Pack

    I think it was common at the time for the small sets to be released in two or three versions with different set numbers. My understanding was that some were released in both a box and a poly bag (with different numbers). It seems like some may have also been re-released a year or two later.

    • @MinifigJez
      @MinifigJez  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes, I've come across that before where the same set is in a box and a poly bag too.
      The odd thing with this one is that 1180 and 1265 were both small boxes and 3068 was a poly bag, but they were all released in 1999. That's why I wondered if it was because they were for different territories?

  • @eljaymurphy

    Looked on Peeron (our set database in that era) and the 3068 was a Kabaya promotional set. Kabaya is a Japanese confectionary company that had a number of promotional sets from many themes in late 1990s and early 2000s. All the space port 30** sets (4 of them) were these promotions.

      GREAT! - thanks so much for letting me know. Those ones were in Poly bags, (I guess that's easier. for a promo) the other two were in boxes, so I just need to find out why teh same set, in teh same year was numbered differently in two different boxes.
      Thanks for commenting.
      (I still use Perron, to jump to Picsl, as it's still the best b=place to get old instructions, I just got the ones for the Velux house from Picsl, as I need to build it!)

    I actually recreated this one 😊 but I used a black and white spacesuit figure with a blue transparent parabola, turned out pretty cool.

    No matter how many pieces it has, a sets a set. Although sets under 10 pieces are stretching the narrative 😅

      Yes, and it's a GREAT set too! Like I said, I definitely think I would like to get some more.

    I'd say that would be a paper polybag today but it's actually closer to next years F1 CMF 😂 How odd there are 3 sets so similar...

    • @mastermouldie

      Also, both of those (either polybag or CMF) is a little more than £2 today, but at least we get a few more pieces

    Very vague recollection here (bad memory), and unfortunately due to a construction project at the house all my Lego is tucked into a couple corners with tarps over it, so I can’t look easily. I seem to remember the larger sets in this collection came with a number of sub assemblies, in polybags or maybe boxes. If you look closely, you’ll see similar sub builds. I never payed attention to set numbers back then, so maybe they had a different numbers if they were part of a bigger set. Back then we didn’t have numbered bags, but this may have been an early experiment in something similar. Maybe this will jog someone else’s memory to fill in more details.

      Thanks for the insight... I've now been told in another comment that the ones with the set numbers 30** were a promo for a Japanese sweet company, but your comment could well explain the reason for the two boxed versions

    Why didn’t use the classic spaceman for this set

    • @MinifigJez
      @MinifigJez  Месяц назад

      Because by 1999, Lego were no longer making classic spacemen. The spaceport astronauts, looked much more like real astronauts, in all white suites and white helmets with gold visors.
