    This was a MOST useful video for those of us not from BC but who plan to return there. Have you visited Beauvais Lake PP yet? Buried in a forest with a mix of interesting trails (mind the bears) and a nice lake. Well maintained, excellent camp hosts, water & pit toilets. Some spaces reserved while others FCFS. We found it more agreeable than the somewhat exposed Kikomum Creek PP, and nearby Pincher Creek has the stores one needs. I'll need to replay this video and capture the details! Thank you.

      Glad you found useful! Yes, we were at Beauvais Lake the previous year. We really enjoy southern Alberta parks! Often the parks along the BC coast are are heavily forested, so we really enjoy more open campsites when we can find them, albeit not if too hot out.

    Times change! That SunPeaks RV spot is where I used to setup my downhill bike. It was just a big, open parking area. For $1.00 I could shower at their pool facility. B/c they didn't have RV sites, I would stay at Paul Lake close to Kamloops. Locals couldn't believe I would drive all the way to SunPeaks, from Toronto, just to downhill bike there. And, yes, black bears on the trails have the right of way :-) I believe Nancy Greene is still a part owner of SunPeaks.

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  3 года назад +1

      Paul Lake is a great spot to stay, but also handy to be right at the mountain. We saw a few bears early the next morning, but they scooted away when they noticed us, but yes, they do have the right of way! That would be a long drive, but some interesting spots along the way. Be safe and be well! 🚐

    Cross Canada, took 3 months...do it! Northern BC, been there, will return. Do it! Do not overlook the Yukon and/or NWT.
    We live on northern Vancouver Island and every time we hit a Rec site or park we high lite it in our Backwoods Map Book. Been here for 20 years and still haven't done half of them! Retired now so the pace should pick up. We keep being drawn back to old favourites. I appreciate you two more than you might think...its a pleasure to watch your adventures. Keep well.

    I hope you are both keeping well.We are in another lockdown, so quite restricted from going too far and driving is not encouraged, apart from a few walks close to where we live, we are tied to the house. Seeing your recent video and the stunning countryside does lift the spirit and helps to think about taking trips when we can get back to normality.I am looking forward to your ventures during 2021 showcasing what BC has to offer those who wish to invest in a Campervan and see the spectacular countryside.Take care and best regards, Adrian.

      Thanks For the comment and yes, still challenging times. Here (BC) we are under somewhat similar circumstances; some business restrictions (limits to numbers of people), typical physical distancing, no social gatherings and limit travel to local areas only. Most people are being responsible and following. We have just also introduced significant international air travel restrictions/testing for anyone arriving from outside of the country. All intended to keep our numbers remaining low. Our local medical health officer however suggests international travel probably not appropriate until the fall, which likely coincides with when most folks will have had vaccinations. So far current measures seem to be be keeping our cases from escalating , and hoping perhaps restrictions may be able to ease a bit within the province sooner than later! It would be nice to get out more again, albeit our weather largely wet and gloomy right now! Be safe and be well!

    Great info! Close to Vancouver I recommend Nairn Falls near Pemberton (aim for spots along the river as it nullifiies any highway/train noise). I also really enjoy Chilliwack Lake as it is close, easy to get to, and beautiful. Avoid the campgrounds near the lake and aim for Radium for more privacy. For us, 2020 was difficult to get reservations as COVID cancelled everything before June and then the massive opening for the rest of the season made it difficult to score a spot (even during the weekdays) close to home. One last one, Otter Lake. It's a beauty and so quiet. Looking forward to your 2021 adventures!

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  3 года назад

      Appreciate the suggestions/tips...so close, but we have never made it to Chilliwack Lake! Yes, this year was very difficult to find spots unless you could get a bit farther afield. Thanks for watching and be safe and be well! 🚐

    • @margaretneely5632
      @margaretneely5632 2 года назад

      The Chilliwack lake campground has a shorter season and is reserve only, but there are also forest service campgrounds on the way up (ie Riverside and Thurston) which are open longer and often not full midweek or on a weekend (except long weekends).

    Hey!
    How are you doing?
    I'm planning to visit BC soon for ~3 months. I'm looking for finding a small RV for 1 adult (me and my mountain bike). Maybe a Class B?
    I'm open to both options rent or purchase. However prices are insane... more than $100 a night for renting. I'm not sure if I'm searching in the wrong places or what.
    Do you have any advice where to look?
    Best!

    • @hikenrv
      @hikenrv  2 года назад

      We aren’t really familiar with the rental market here, though have heard that it is very busy during the summer months (if that when your visit is). An internet search will turn up several options for class B vans, but there are also smaller vans (often a cargo or family van chassis) you may want to consider. Perhaps less expensive and may meet your needs. We have seen other campers in these type of vans from a company called Wicked Campers as an example (we aren’t familiar with them or their services or rates…just have seen a few). Did a quick internet search and noted several companies that offer what appears to be similar, also check out Vancouver Island, perhaps less well known local options may be available. One thing to note as well when you visit…like many places our gas prices are at record levels, so just be aware. Right now about $2.10 CDN per liter in the Vancouver area or approx $6.25 US for a gallon (usually prices are a bit lower in other areas such as the interior of BC). Hope you find something that works for you and wishing you safe travels!

      Thank you and appreciate you watching! The only spot we listed in the top 5 that takes reservations is Kikomun Creek Park and you can find reservation on the Discover Camping website (www.discovercamping.ca/bccweb/). You can find EC Manning there as well. Yoho would be on the national parks website www.pc.gc.ca/en/voyage-travel/reserve.
      Prices vary somewhat dependent on services, from $18 to over $30 with recreational sites on the low range. Sunpeaks was $25. Safe travels! 🚐
