When in baroque churches they painted ceilings in trompe l’oeil manner to create an illusion that the architecture is fading into sky full of angels and saints they often used 3D elements like legs made of plaster or rays of sunshine made of metal.

Bliss I’m Brazilian and Melissa is not actually a luxury brand, it’s extremely affordable and only used buy lower classes. Some of the y project stuff are going for less then 20 dollars!
It would be so cool if you did an "Every Glenn Martens' Y-Project Show" video like you do for Jacquemus and Schiaparelli. His work is so multifaceted and I'd love to see you take his body of work apart.

I was born and raised in brazil and Melissa was not a luxury brand until rebranding a couple of years ago. They sold plastic shoes,basically was a cool thing to have when you were a teenager,but not the most durable after sometime the transparent plastic became yellow and in the 100 degrees that we got in rio de janeiro,you got sweaty stinky feet on the closed versions.
i remember loving them as a child! it’s fun to see them collaborating with brand i’ve come to admire as a grown person.

This might be very british idk, but that rude baby thing looks like it was inspired by the 2010s t-shirts that had cartoon characters’ bodies miniaturised in the same way that made it lool like your face was bart simpsons’ or Mickey mouse’s (I think it was done by topman first but I could be wrongn, it was a really pervasive trend in british menswear at the time)

The Barbican Gallery in London had an exhibition sometime around 2015 that had most of the clothes youre talking about, the trompe l’oeil from gaultier and margiela (and if I remember correctly, I think Walt was there too?) and I was surprised how wearable they were

Don't people realize that all plastics are made from petroleum? In fact, now it is more used for plastics than cars. Environment much?
Not all plastics are made from crude oils, plenty are made from vegetable by product. In fact half of the plastics used in fabrication are a PLA plastic thats pretty harmless in most senses, recyclabile, and moderately degradable. Plastics/Rubbers/Polyesters are as variable as fabrics.
I believe melissa uses PVC plastic, so amongst the worst of the plastics for the environment unfortunately, though they do claim them to be 100% recyclable
I just find it suspicious that they dont develop on what kind if PVC they use, where the plastic is from, esp when theyre so open about so many things in their process 🤷
At present the majority of plastics are petroleum based. Companies will then try green washing with a vegan label. " Let's use plastics but if we put a vegan label on it, it will be acceptable." Not very respectful of enviromental veganism. As religious vegans have solved the problem of clothing already perhaps some of these companies could take inspiration from what has gone before.

Big fan of what you do and I know that this might come across in the wrong way, but I did think the Patreon ads were becoming pretty bloated and actively making your content seem a little bit less professional / polished.
Don't want that to be taken the wrong way and I obviously understand why you do it, but the way it was handled this episode worked much better for me. Would be interested to know if this equals more or less patrons on your end.

The middle finger earrings are something I’d do unironically considering all the flak a Madison can pick up. Although I’d make them much smaller.

Those earrings I think you are absolutely correct. They are designed in a way that they don't detract from the other clothing choices on the model and don't take up valuable real estate on the model for clothing like that full sized top. Easy thing to just slap on a couple of models for some free PR in which you have also done.
For the jeans they also show the brown flap that they are most known for. Don't know why it was done this way but best guess is to distinct it as jeans compared to regular Demin clothing.
Outro, I watched until the end so that you for wasting my time staring at a black screen with your goofy face in the middle.
The processing on the images is just way too much and bumps up the contrast to 11 when compared to video footage shown for comparison. I dislike this misleading advertising. Really detracted me from actually viewing the garments in a neutral manner knowing that they are not representative of real-life.

They’re all filmed at my parents’ house. They bought the house in the 80s from the city for $1 and spent most of my childhood renovating it 💫💫

Recreating ugly dragon printed shirts who are worn in the 00 years by nerds isn’t funny and happy making, it’s senseless and stupid. I don’t know what happend with Y/project. When glenn became CD the brand was dark and constructed and actually the original brand aesthetic was pretty much what glenns style was back as a student in antwerp and now, it’s chaotic and styled. I prefer y/project over vetements, because there are always a few extremely great pieces, but over all, i will never get it and i will never understand the 180 this brand made. It has much more success now, i give them that...
