    I also like pause pushups, where i hold the bottom iso for a second or two, then finish off with the iso to bust as my last one.

    I'm surprised at how very little is needed to build muscle size . Lately I've been doing just 1 or 2 moves each workout and I'm gaining like crazy ! I believe this is because of the maximum recovery my body is experiencing from less CNS stimulation and elevated cortisol as i usually do much higher volume .

    Notice how he keeps the elbows tucked in on those twisting pushups, folks. You don't want to let them flair out and potentially cause any damage to the shoulder.
    Crawling pushups are my favorite. I love them forward and backward and randomly stopping and holding for an isometric hold. Matt, I know you already know this but maybe some other folks would love the challenge.
    Another favorite that can be adjusted to any level but still a great challenge are the classic (and dreaded) 21s. 7 top half range, 7 bottom half range, and 7 full range = 1 rep. Have fun with those.
    I can also reccomend using stairs, if you have it, to safely practice typewriter or unilateral pushups. This gives you the ability to adjust easily. Also, you can pyramid or drop set you regular pushups and really burn them out. Enjoy folks!

      These all apply just the same with pull-ups but some moves you may want to regress to rows or seated pull-ups so they can be a bit more manageable.

    Hi, I’ve watched your video on the mistakes people make during push ups and think it very useful. I’ve recently started feeling a strange pain on my upper back and shoulder blade area after just a few push ups. Are you aware of any possible causes/fixes?

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  3 года назад +1

      Hard to know what's causing pain, but I would take a video of you doing push-ups, from the top angle, and see if you're hunching up your shoulders.
      Also, make sure you'll allowing your shoulders to protract at the top of each rep. Trying to keep your shoulders pinched at the top might be causing a bit of strain on those traps.

    The one thing I didn’t see was a recommendation on how often and for how long. Every day? Every other day? Every three days? 5 mins? 30 mins? 1 hr?

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  3 года назад +1

      That depends on a whole host of other factors and it's never a one-size-fits-all. SO it all depends on:
      - Your training history
      - What techniques you're using
      - How hard you push yourself into a high state of fatigue
      - Your goals
      - Your recovery and lifestyle factors like sleep, diet, stress management etc.
      just to name a few.
      But for now, just do what you like if your'e starting out. It's hard to screw this sort of thing up however you do it. And add or subtract how much you do based on how strong you can perform subsequent workouts.

  • @Linkous12

    Hey Matt, sorry for the late comment, but I wanted to ask this on a more pertinent video. Why are parallel bar dips and regular pushups more-or-less equally difficult for me? My max on both are about the same amount of reps. I'm doing the dips with good depth (just below parallel) so I don't understand why pushups are relatively more difficult, especially since dips are supposed to be tougher. Ideas?

    • @RedDeltaProject
      @RedDeltaProject  3 года назад

      I would say it's because you're getting more dialed in and strict with your push-ups. yes, dips are working with more total bodyweight gains gravity, but if you get the leverage right, they should still be pretty difficult.

    • @Linkous12
      @Linkous12 3 года назад

      @@RedDeltaProject That makes sense, thanks for the response. I'll work on my dips more. I honestly have a feeling it's a tension issue (chest, probably). Thanks again!

  • @heartofalegend

    Brother, I'm so frustrated. No matter what I attempt or how hard I try to follow the examples given, my push-ups just end up hurting my shoulders and I don't feel anything in my chest. In fact, I've never been able to build my chest with any any exercise, weights or anything. I just don't understand why this is.

  • @fonduefulfatty9910

    Any tips on doing a table bridge properly? My chest seems to “sink” and I can’t get my body straight. I think my shoulders aren’t flexible and that’s causing the issue
