The previous models used a software utility to update the firmware. I’m not finding anything yet for this model. I enjoy listening to the airband, might have to save up for one of these.
Hi Thanks yes the 450/550/750 have firmware but this one seems set from factory it does have a USB connection I feel this is why it doesn't display 8.33 mhz .
I have this one and there is a PC software that is allowing to directly add frequencies into the radio, when plugged in USB. Not sure what is your comment about the spacing but this is a 8.33 KhZ increment radio ( like in Europe)
You can feed it with software yce46 from your pc via usb with frequency/group lists. Question is if you can load an old list from FTA750 into it. Might be interesting for upgraders or in cas e of a broken FTA750.
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones Changing the antenna does help the situation. The antenna supplied with the FTA-850 is identical to the one supplied with my AR-DV10, I guess that's why AOR claim it's specifically tuned for the commercial aviation part of the spectrum. Was listening to the UHF military aviation band yesterday evening (USAF pilots undergoing training exercises) , something was going on, heard communications from a pilot (commercial?) asking permission to be diverted to a nearby airport and requesting law inforcement officials be on hand when the plane landed. I recorded the transmissions, need to review them today.
Thank you. Yours is the only videos on this ht!
Glad it was helpful!

Wouxun 9d
Thank you!
Do you find you have to turn up the squelch on your unit more than usual compared with other radios in order to close it?
External antenna is better or stand outside .
