Hello friend, I have a packaging factory in Argentina, I love machines and tools and I want to congratulate you on your way of working and the order of your workshop, and the neatness of your tools, your machines and your way of working. You're a genius! God bless you!
@Bernd Mütze at the end of the day, a craftsman is a craftsman regardless of the material. It all requires the same essential skills. Patience, attention to detail, and practice
The right tool makes the job so much easier. And it finally dawned on me why you incorporated that roll of paper when you built that work bench. So simple and yet brilliant. Keep em coming, buddy.
I’ve been kicking around the idea of buying a domino, which clearly has many advantages, but for panel glue-ups, tung and groove would be fine and, a hell of a lot cheaper. Of course, bits for my Rockler router table setup are far cheaper than the monster bits you use. The only downside is that you’d see the tung and groove from the edge of the panel, but I personally like seeing the joinery so it’s not really a downside. Of course, you can cover up the ends with breadboards, but I don’t care for the look of breadboards. You always make everything appear so easy and, yes, the machines you have help, but you are truly the master of joinery and one hell of a great woodworker, at least from the products I’ve seen come out of your shop. I wish I had a set up like your shop, but I’m 64 so by the time this beginner could gain the experience, find the money to buy the tools and establish a customer , or even a RUclips subscriber base, I’ll be too old to actually make the products everyday. Actually, my wife would kill me before I even got to that point after she saw what I was spending on the machines alone. I enjoy watching your channel and living my dream through you. I wish you continued success my friend.
I’ve not had much luck with the centre referenced glue joint cutter. It never seems to be exactly the correct height and leaves a lip. Your loose tongue method is good as it preserves all the width of the timber when the timber is in short supply. Cheers
I left a comment on the power pole table....while watching, i was thinking of all different things to do with the large roll of paper. Laying I out for glue run out didn't register till now😂😂. Incorporating it into the table is perfect👍
Very cool Equipment you have. I like Woodwork. As a young Boy, I beginning to building boxes and cabinets... But I have only a few Machines. My last new was a tabel saw from Bosch.....
Do you have a preference for which of these 4 you would use for all joints like this? Meaning if you only had to use 1, for all projects, which would it be?
Essas máquinas são top. As minhas foi eu mesmo que fiz. Fiz serra fita desempenadeira.
I learned a painful lesson with miter-lock and glue. Once cut the fit is perfect and the dry assembly was beautiful. Add glue and the small grooves capture the liquid and have no vent for air and excess to push out. Do you have this cutter? Can you do a video? Jer
sup man, why dont you get a power feed for your spindle moulder? seems like money isnt an issue and you'd use it a lot. Great vids and woodworking btw!
Dusty, you’re living the dream, dude - at least mine! Thanks for sharing your shop time with us, and I love that you ‘show’ without ‘telling’ as your style. You seem to have been custom-built for YT! Question: how much power does your shop take? I’m assuming 3-phase power but what’s the service size? OH, and does Festool or King Canada comp you stuff or are those tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools directly from hard-won and hard-earned effort?!?
It won't be as much electrical draw as you'd expect... since it seems to be a one man shop.... so lights, air temp control, machine used plus dust collection wouldn't add up to a whole bunch... but get several people in there running equipment and it goes up exponentially
Lol I was thinking the same thing about Dusty being perfect for RUclips. Almost like he didn’t even grow up, just popped out of a Maple tree one day and got to work 😂 🇨🇦
The question is which one of those four would be the strongest joint? Wished he did a 90 degree break or a straight pull. Oh, that is Project Farm dude. 😊
The glue always seems excessive. Is that necessary? Probably a dumb question... You're a professional and that's the amount you use so I'm sure it's good. I'm an aspiring wood worker.
I wouldn't say it's excessive. The dude who replied below doesn't know what he's talking about. The important part is to guarantee that you don't get a dry join. If you do, the piece may not be usable. Glue is cheaper than wood! I will say I don't think it's a good idea to have the clamps touch the wood where the wet glue is. The steel and glue together on the wood will cause deep stains.
@hashkat That makes sense for sure. I've seen Mister Duffy use brown paper before to protect surfaces and pieces from glue drips. I'm afraid I'll sand weird when I'm trying to remove the extra glue. You all (professionals) make everything look so easy.
Was mich ein bisschen stört, warum nimmst du immer so viel Leim?
I are very talented, I love watching your videos, but if you're making something can you please speak the instructions, a lot of videos these days are just playing music and pointing. I still give you a 👍.
Please keep your fingers off the end of the work piece as you feed it through. My father lost a finger from a kickback! Use the palm of your hand on the top rear edge or better still get a motorised feed roller.
I’m sure the wait will be well worth it! We all live a little vicariously through your shop though! It’s like Christmas when you get something new! We get a new video!

I am so in awe of how easy you make it look. Im also wicked impressed with the amazing tools you have. You definitely get what you pay for

I highly rate Freud stuff. I am really jealous of your machines though!

Dang, you make everything look so easy, especially those crazy joints in your other videos. Do you ‘ever’ make a mistake!! Thanks for sharing.
Mr Dusty,
The Master Continues!!!! Thank You for sharing Your Talent with All!!! Big Inspiration!!!!
I am so jealous of that shaper. It is like a router table that went through puberty.
I left a comment on the power pole table....while watching, i was thinking of all different things to do with the large roll of paper. Laying I out for glue run out didn't register till now😂😂. Incorporating it into the table is perfect👍

Yes, with the help of such ingenious inventions, you can make a tabletop for a table.

🙌🤣 Toys is correct.
I know.
I can't believe I won the drawing you had. Looking forward to my new tools. 🍻
Having the right tools and accessories makes work so easy.
Would be interesting to see if he could make all this using hand tools.
Amazing work. Liked and subscribed.
Is there a reason a Canadian woodworker wears a Swedish Blåkläder Tshirt in all his videos?

How do you decide which one to use for each project? Is it just aesthetic? Customer preference? Or engineering considerations?

Great cutters but only really good for alignment, Butt joint is just as strong, plus you loose width on the tongue side.
Wow, very cool! What is that machine called and why isn't there a link to all your parts?
Its a spindle moulder
It's a Shaper table in some parts of the world, or called a Spindle moulder in other parts. I get all my cutters and blades from @freudtools

Been thinking of making an 8ft fence like this. Thoughts?
You would have better gap filling and strength plus waste a lot less glue if you used a polyurethane glue on that job.
What do you call such a machine?
Nothin' but awsome!
