      Not quite underrated, anymore. He has a very decent subscriber base, of 500k+, which is, quite telling of his popularity. I don't think there is any other channel with a higher subscriber base, except those frivolous "opening the wrapper of a toy" kind of videos.

    Thank you very much... I've had a phobia of C/C++/C# since my master's days where I learned Ada, Pascal, assembly, etc. Saw some terrible spaghetti code in C and thought, "No way I wanna learn that..." Plus, once you get into Windows programming it gets quite complex. You've re-energized me at 47 years old! I'm excited. Thanks!!!

    Let the plebs see the light. C# best language 10/10.
    Edit: Why you ask? Well here's stuff you can do with it:-
    1. Android/iOS applications through Xamarin
    2. Native Windows applications
    3. Windows mobile/Universal windows applications
    4. Web sites through ASP NET
    5. Games through Unity
    Plus it has a couple of cool features such as:-
    1. LINQ
    2. Extension Methods
    3. Properties
    4. Lambda/Expression Bodied
    5. Conditional Access Operator and Null Coalescing Operator
    6. Easy String Interpolation -> $"Hello I am {name}. Welcome {guestName}"

    I have no plans of becoming a software developer but I am very much interested in online education, the delivering of most of all school and college courses via the internet and other computer based media. They are great because the student can go back and review again and again. Many colleges are hopping on to the bandwagon because they realize that is a good part of the future, although not all subjects can be efficiently taught over the internet. the mistake they make is that they use the professor to do the talking and often these professors fail because they make it all look very dry and boring. They just cannot deliver their lecture. You seem to have overcome that deficiency and I wish there more online teachers like. You keep me interested. In fact colleges and schools should have their subjects delivered using professional narrators, such as the ones used in the series " How it is made" on TV. Once they have the script they can do a much better job. One suggestion: may be keep every tutorial no more than 15 minutes.

    Hey Derek, you should check out the new string interpolation in C#6. Instead of ("Arg {0} : {1}", i, args[i]), you can say ($"Arg {i} : {args[i]}").

    Hi Derek, I am a huge fan of your java tutorials because you explain things very thoroughly and clearly. I am a senior in high school who has only ever had experience in java. I'm going to be starting college in the fall and I'm looking for a new language to start learning but there are so many out there. I don't know which ones are relevant for the oncoming years in college.

    • @derekbanas
      @derekbanas  7 лет назад

      It depends on what you want to do. If you are going to school no doubt you'll see Java, C, C++, maybe Haskell and C#. If you do anything with the web you'll learn about PHP and JavaScript. All are great languages

    have you ever considered doing video solutions to problems on sites like hackerrank?
    i'd personally love to see a video from you, attempt the problem, and then have you explain an approach/solution. i know those sorts of sites give the code/answers, but often if you don't understand the logic it's hard to follow.
    eitherway, agree with people on here - you are definitely way too underrated. have recommended your stuff on various forums in the past.

    • @derekbanas
      @derekbanas  7 лет назад

      Thank you for the recommendations :) I haven't tried a coding competition in a while unless you consider what I do here which is basically create whatever people challenge me to make. It might be fun to give that a go in a few videos. Thanks for the idea.

    • @nickwoodward819
      @nickwoodward819 7 лет назад

      it's for selfish reasons really :)
      i'm kind of at the point where i know a decent amount of java, but never studied discrete maths or anything to help me learn more complicated algorithms.
      most of the recommended books are also kind of a step too high for me!

    normally you would have an array initialized in code not from settings, and how do you change the content of a string with just a variable?
    if you asked me I would do:
    console.writeLine("Arg {" i "} : {" args[i]);
    which does look messy but way more logical then changing context of a sting
    in case you are wondering, yes I am a C++ programmer and I find this spinoff very strange and confusing...
